I hope this hymn “It is Well With My Soul” is a blessing to you! Calvin and I dedicated and recorded this song for our dear friend and fellow musician Beth Nickel who recently passed away quite suddenly. When she found out she was sick her husband said she was at peace and said, “What will be will be”, a similar statement that the composer of this hymn stated in this hymn when he sailed to the place where his girls perished in a ship wreck... “It is Well”.
What a blessing it is to know that through life’s greatest tragedies we have the hope and assurance to one day be in the presence of God for eternity.

This is the most beautiful and sincere instrumental rendition of this hymn I have heard. The passion for Beth in this tribute is more than evident. This has always been a favourite piece of mine. I heard it when it first came out and dozens of times since. Couldn't help but notice that Beth died 2 days from my wife's date of death and this video was posted one day from my birthday. Now another family death brings me back once again. Am also sharing it with someone who lost a loved one. I totally agree, bring back the hymns !!!

Rosemary, I just wanted you to know how much of a blessing you are to me and my wife. "It Is Well" has always been a favorite, but it was especially beautiful with two violins. But last Sunday it was especially needed in our lives and our church. The last four months have been difficult. We have a small church in a rural area of Nevada. Our families have been going through difficult times. Seven deaths, (four in one family) in the last four months. This last Sunday we found out another family member has an inoperable brain tumor. And then last week my wife had a stroke, and had to be flown to Salt Lake City. So when last Sunday came, there was a need for comfort from the pulpit. God's Word did its work, but I also mentioned you and the song you played that morning. That illustration added to the comfort. Thank you for that selection. When I mentioned you during the sermon, I hope it's ok that I called you a friend. I know we haven't met, and may not this side of heaven, but it feels like you are a friend. By the way, Shirley is ok. When we got home from the hospital, she had to sit down at the piano and make sure she could stilI play. She can though her left hand was a little weaker. I was sorry to hear about Beth. I will be praying for you and her family. What a blessing that she knows the Lord and is with her Savior now. Thank you for sharing the gospel as you spoke of your friend. Looking forward to this coming Sunday.

In the end, isn't that is what matters. Death is Always a tearing of the soul, the word of God says death is the final enemy. Knowing and accepting Christ as our Saviour does so much to ease the pain of losing a loved one. The certainty of knowing we would one day see them again, whole and alive, is something to look forward to.
