    I love my RS11V for sparring. Took a few rounds on the bag to break in, since then theyre perfect. Sparring only now. Love the wrist lock too.

    I recently bought RS11V directly from Rival, and I thought I share my impression here, as Rival will not post reviews that are less than 5 stars on their site (obviously). Not even sure why they bother asking for the feedback, if they are not intended to post it. Anyway...
    I bought 16oz gloves, and initially they were so tight that I had to put tennis and golf balls in order to make some room for the hands. They are quite compact, which I like, but it's a bit difficult to make a good fist in them. Maybe it makes sense to go one size up, so maybe I should have bought 18oz, especially considering that the real weight of these are less than the nominal number (my 16oz weigh about 14.7oz).
    I thought they needed to be broken in, in order to fit better, so I used them on the bag, but even after a month of using them on the bag, they give me a lot of pain in the knuckles and especially in the wrists - so much that I had to take some time of the gym. I'm doing boxing for 7 years and my hands and wrists are generally well conditioned. I can work the heavy bag just wearing thin mittens, but not in these gloves.
    A few other things to note:
    1) the thumb position feels great, but it's a bit protruding, and not as protected as in some other gloves, hitting an elbow can lead to an injury.
    2) the padding is quite hard, it's actually very comparable to my Rival mexican bag gloves (which I love), maybe even slightly harder. I prefer softer gloves for sparring, in order to protect my sparring partner. For the same reason I don't by Reyes or any other mexican gloves for sparring, despite a very comfortable fit - they are great for the bag work, as well as for a fight, where you really want to hurt your opponent, but not for sparring.
    So, overall, despite great construction and material, I cannot recommend these gloves. I think there are much better sparring gloves out there, that cost same or even less.

      So the wrist support was actually bad?

    • @leonshamis
      @leonshamis 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@eyeofsauron2812 Well, I don't know about you, but I need a bit of an inward fist rotation when I punch to have a good and strong wrist position during a punch landing. So, for me, the ideal wrist support should allow the inward rotation but resists the backward one. If the wrist support of the glove is perfectly straight and doesn't allow any movement in any direction, it's not good for me. Basically, it means you won't be able to have a tight fist during the landing, it will somewhat open. Just make a tight fist and look at it - you will notice that it's naturally inward rotated.

      @@leonshamisI have the Hayabusa T3 and are fantastic, none of the problems that you said about the Rival ones. My only problem with them is about the sweat absorption, I spend time drying them after each training session, and I think that the Rival ones have the same type of interior materials. Did you notice a full sweat absorption with the Rival ones?

    RS11V are my overall favorite gloves even though I think the ergonomics of the RS11V used to be slightly better in the mid 2010’s. They’re slightly stiffer now even after 2 years of use and the fist feels different but they did make them overall more durable and the velcro seems like it’ll last forever now(the biggest issue with older RS11V’s).
    I hope they add some new color ways soon, particularly with regards to the almost always orange logo. The blue/black gloves but with a medium-dark grey logo would be perfect to me.

  • @jxlee91
    @jxlee91 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I read that the biggest difference is supposed to be in the padding. RS11V = "Extra-Thick, 2" (50mm) Layered Foam Padding Specifically Designed for Intense Sparring Use" and RB11 = "1.25" (3cm) of Closed Cell Foam and Latex Padding Specifically Designed for Intense Bag Use."
    Do you find that actually makes a big difference? Or do you still strongly believe the RS11V can be used for all around training?

    Picked up the RS11V 16oz gloves. They are overall pretty decent. However I found the thumb protection to be problematic...get a random sharp sensation at the tip of the thumb when throwing power shots...never had the issue with my old 12oz century gloves. Anyone experience the same?

    I use the RS11V Sparring 14oz and they are a bit big for me and I'm looking for an exclusive one for bag. I was thinking about the RB11 Evolution bag gloves but I doubt the size. Do you think the size M of the RB11 will be smaller than the 14oz size of the RS11V model?
