I cried when I saw that scene in Captain Marvel. I have loved your stories ever since Clerks and your friendship with Stan has always made me so happy.
If you'll forgive the word choice, it was, for me, a very "cosmic" feeling. Like she's in the middle of being the story, living it out, and there's this guy who represents the genesis of the path to her story being able to be told, inserted into the story itself. A magnetism of self-awareness, like she couldn't not acknowledge it, even if she couldn't place -why- she felt drawn, it was without a doubt unquestionably a positive vibe. I didn't have a problem with the movie (save for the first maybe 15 minutes) so this might sound weird to say but it was one of my favorite parts. Just that damned smile on both of their faces.
I once met Stan lee once. Super short in Vancouver. I was walking back to my hotel from a nerd con there. I saw him while walking back and made a face of like omg it’s Stan lee. And he saw me and nodded at me. That was it but I cherished that single moment. He had a shit ton of security lol.
I was emotionally destroyed before the movie even started with that Marvel Logo. The theater should have handed tissues and gave a warning or something. My daughter was like, "Daddy, why the heck are you crying? The moving hasn't started yet!"
I honestly thought the smile had something to do with stan lee being a watchman. Her smiling at him doesnt really make sense now :( still pretty awesome cameo

Tears in the intro and NOW I have to go rewatch Captain Marvel to look at the script. I was distracted with the cheering in the theater when everyone knew it was the Stan Lee cameo.
@Dusty L Captain Marvel was just as good as Iron Man 2 ... yes I actually said that. It is on par with the worst Marvel movie today's date because it's disjointed storytelling and lack of a cohesive narrative that only say comic book reader would be able to understand. A friend of mine actually paid for my movie ticket because he hates watching movies alone and he could not understand the story and he easily understood Dr Strange. The one part that actually annoyed me was they gender swapped Mar-Vell and the cat scratch (Keeping it vague to stay away from spoilers). Those 2 things just made it worse then Iron Man 2 & 3 combined

@@shane3674 There will always be some kind of reference of Stan "The Man" Lee in future MCU, difference is he won't "live", but his Spirit remains in all he created or co-created! Just wished Steve Ditko & Jack "The King" Kirby, John Romita Sr. , & others also receive the proper credit they all deserve!
Kevin Smith looks like Robert Downey Jr. dressed up as Kevin Smith.
No insult to either implied or intended.
Indeed
Hah. That is true.
He's just a dude dressed as a dude disguised as another dude!
A very deserving tribute. Besides Stan, no one has done more to promote the world of comics than you have Keven Smith. You have shared your love for this medium with all of us and we are all bigger fans because of you. Thank you
Iy was such a beautiful moment. And the way Captain Marvel smiles at him. (tears)
Kevin You deserve it Brotha!! Stan the man is Mallrat 4 life!!
Kevin Smith for directing Howard The Duck Movie!!!!!
I'd watch that
No Kevin need to Direct Batman or be one of the producer he know his shit
Not gonna lie, I'd watch the fuck outta that.
I'm still holding my breath for his Green Hornet version. Slowly getting blue in the face here...
I have to admit I love Kevin Smith the way that he loves Stan Lee.
Congratulations man.. have not seen it yet, but heard the news. Pretty sure Stan Lee would have loved to see your reaction, you had a big part in making him mainstream.
Well deserved, and glad you enjoyed it.
First off, Kevin you looks amazing... Second you know how to pull at the heart strings. 😭
+1, Kevin you do look good, for a guy that has been crying. Seriously though, you look healthy and happy, I can't imagine the emotions coursing through you because of this.
Dude. Heartfelt, honest, devastating. This was a GREAT contribution to the legacy of Stan Lee! I was lucky enough to meet him on his 91st birthday in Austin at Wizard World Comic-con and he was the epitome of class and grace with everyone who stood in line to meet him. I really appreciated this video, man...I have admired the man for almost 40 years and your emotional tribute to him really struck me to my core..
That's a great story, I am glad Kevin's kindness is being returned back to him.
Agreed!
Stan and Kevin are my heros.
Sad your heroes are a theif and a brown nosing kiss ass.
It/s kalled æ “snowboll”
No mention of Brie Larson's 4th wall breaking smile/acknowledgment. In a post death cameo that's what really made it emotional for me.
Their smile ❤💔
It was a beautiful moment in the film. Thank you Stan!
Or was it that she recognized him as the watcher character
I noticed too, and it pulled so hard on my heartstrings. One thing was the mallrats nod, another was that little smile she gave. ❤
I dunno, Man....Marvel could be grooming you to direct the Goose stand-alone....Skrullrats? Flerks? Cat vs. Dogma?
Fuckin Brilliant. Cheers!

RiP Stan Lee. Thanks for sharing special insight.
God Bless Stan Lee! God Bless Kevin Smith! Excelsior true believers!!!
HAIL HYDRA!
Congratulations Kevin! You deserve the salute. You and Stan together for all time!
This was awesome! Kevin do not sell yourself short, you are an amazing story teller and director. So many movies like Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma, and Chasing Amy are the soundtrack to my life and every time I watch these classics it truly warms my soul!!
Chasing Amy and Dogma are two of my favorite movies!
Thank you Kevin for putting Stan Lee in your movie many years back. I wish you good health and long life!
Surf's Up! "Excelsior!"
Ive been waiting for this video since the second i saw the cameo thursday night. Love you Kevin!
Same. As soon as I finished the film, I totally thought "what is Kevin gonna think of the movie"!
The Stan Picture Tribute at the beginning replacing the Marvel Logo was AWESOME!!! Left me with my mouth wide open. I missed your Easter Egg on the train. I must have blinked. Will have to rewatch it. Big Ups to you Mr. Smith with the Mallrats nod.
This is beautiful. I have to admit in the moment i didn't even connect the Mall Rats dot when i was watching. The moment to me just seemed like a real genuine tribute to him and now after watching this i realize i had not even scratched the surface of that moment. Wow just wow...
All dhose memes will be lost in time like tyrs in reign
I’m happy for you. Awesome moment with Stan Lee. It was very cool!!!!!
Not a fan of the new onion cutting smell technology in TH-cam. (Sniff)
Right!?!? What the hell, man.
Yea man who brought the onions man
Same here i had to pause it because i thought it was just me
This comment cracked me up
Dhere/s no need to hold back dhe tears of soy
My entire screening in unison went AWWWW😥 during that scene.
Never experienced that before. Thanks for that Marvel and Kev🤘🏾
Someone at my theater started clapping after the thank you to Stan Lee and everybody joined, it was bitter sweet. Very powerful way to start the movie.
@@electroplaque that's sweet. My theater was quiet during the opening logo. It was a nice surprise. You could hear a pin drop. Which is probably why we reacted the way we did at Stan's cameo lol
I'm not crying.. we're crying. 😭❤️
I love how moved you are by things Kevin! You are a true gent!
I have been lucky enough to work as an extra on Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and Kevin Smith is genuine and always good to his fans, he appreciates every single one of us. Can’t wait to be back on set to get some more laughs.
View Askew U for you!😁👍✌
Lawrence Rinehart snooogans
Btw I’m not saying they’re not working hard on this film because they absolutely are. I’m an extra and they only need me for certain dates. They’re filming all over New Orleans and we’re loving it. Hopefully Kevin notices the love he has here and makes it his 2nd home.
@@facehunter504 tell Lunch Box I said hi! Snoochie- Boochies!
I can imagine the general atmosphere. Livin' the dream.😁👍
Well deserved, you've done so much for comics and comic movies. Your enthusiasm is infectious.
I cried when I saw that scene in Captain Marvel. I have loved your stories ever since Clerks and your friendship with Stan has always made me so happy.
And I absolutely love how Brie Larson reacted to Stan Lee--priceless.
Rob Ostry,
Same.
It was a perfect, “Thank you.” smile.
I wouldn't be surprised if they reshot her reaction after Stan's death.

U my friend are one lucky Man.. I envy u.. gRRR HULK FEEL LEFT OUT !!

My friend met him too. She got a pic.
@@vamanosninja4143 i could have. tickets were 500$ and the last time he came to vancouver.
Your last sentence tho. Hahahaha. Quite sure some of his security members gave you an ocular pat down.
Awww. Bless ya, Mr.Smith. RIP Stan. That opening Marvel Logo DESTROYED me. Great way to start the flick.
Yeah it was intense
I was emotionally destroyed before the movie even started with that Marvel Logo. The theater should have handed tissues and gave a warning or something. My daughter was like, "Daddy, why the heck are you crying? The moving hasn't started yet!"
'Well, I can die now.' LOL!! What a super cool honor to be given by the Master himself! Wow...
Kevin I have been a fan for over twenty years and I cried too
That scene was definitely a treasure. Loved the film from opening to end.

Not my favorite but still a good movie. One of my favorite Stan Lee cameos. He's missed.
I love this so much! The Stan intro had my whole cinema cheering. The mallrats reference slayed me. You are amazing!
The theatre I was in cheered too.
I didn't cry about this until now. Somehow, seeing you react to it touched off the feels like nothing else.

I'm still on the fence about the movie, but I like how when she passed Stan, gave him a smile, and proceeded.
I honestly thought the smile had something to do with stan lee being a watchman. Her smiling at him doesnt really make sense now :( still pretty awesome cameo
@@NiliMotoI guess she just detected something special about him.
Dude you have been canonized by the MAN.STAN LEE.much love bro clerks an mall rats still rock
Two great Kevins honoring One great Stan.. together... priceless!!
Love this story Kevin, thanks for sharing with all of us. Brought a tear to my eye.
That means you're in the MCU.
DID YOU SURVIVE THE SNAP?
That is what I need. I need a Kevin Smith cameo for when the snap is reversed.
all pot smokers survived the snap as the herbal stone protects all its disciples from the other stones..... stoned? stones? lololol.....
Kev survived, but lost half his body

I haven’t seen it yet but this is so fucking amazing! Congrats, Kev. So very glad you’re still with us.
You should give yourself so much more credit than you do Kev. You are a great storyteller in you’re own right. You also are a voice and inspiration to all of us nobody dreamers, who because of you chase our dreams. I’m sitting down and writing my first comic script because of you’re book I just read. I’m taking the chance, because a kid from Highlands. Took a chance with nothing but his talent and his friends and made a timeless movie. I said this to myself when Stan passed “ The torch has been passed to Kevin to be the new leader of the true believers!” Thank you Kevin for always encouraging us to be more and have something to say!
Love your heart, man. Seeing that made me extremely happy too.
too many times these days people are condemned for having too much heart.. you my friend are the pinnacle of what it means to have a heart and the world would be a better place with more kevin smith. love you man.
I loved the special Marvel intro of Capt.Marvel...RIP Stan Lee
Does this mean Jay and Silent Bob will stop Thanos in Endgame?
snooch.
Bluntman an chronic to the rescue
Silent Bob, in his Batman Costume FTW!!!!
Mark Hamill's CockKnocker needs to make an appearance with the two stoners in the movie. In the trailer Cap was looking at the list of ppl on the screen&both BluntMan&Chronic's faces with Mark's should be displayed on it.

Tears in the intro and NOW I have to go rewatch Captain Marvel to look at the script. I was distracted with the cheering in the theater when everyone knew it was the Stan Lee cameo.

I didn't even hear him say the line in the movie
Dude, I would have LOVED being there with you when you first saw this. I'm glad Marvel gave you this gift.
Bless Stan the Man, and bless you for loving on him, Kev. So very glad you lived to see the cameo.
Bless on Stan Lee
It was the best part in the whole film.
Excelsior!
Fatman in Paradise - Well the actual scene sure! But the actual movie that would be a hard pass!!
The only part worth watching
@Dusty L
Captain Marvel was just as good as Iron Man 2 ... yes I actually said that.
The one part that actually annoyed me was they gender swapped Mar-Vell and the cat scratch
(Keeping it vague to stay away from spoilers).
Those 2 things just made it worse then Iron Man 2 & 3 combined
Absolutely fucking awesome! You totally deserved that shout out though man. To be honest I'm seriously surprised it didn't happen sooner Kevin. Much love and respect from the Jersey Shore. 👊🏼
