The Case of Mick Philpott

  • Mick Philpott was quite a guy. He had 17 kids by a number of different women, and, when the local government wouldn't give him a bigger house, he gained infamy as "Shameless Mick". However, that would only be the start, and he would go on to do something a lot more infamous.

The thing about that is the majority of people who commit violent acts with intentions of murder, outside of gang activity / the societal underground, they target one person for spesific reasons. If you were to stop anyone with a violent incident in their past from having children, the children would starve. Unless you want to basically give them to the financially capable, when then you've got a whole new list of characters to investigate, because it's a burden that the regular, working class, already almost bled dry tax payer couldn't support. There has to be a more discretionary way to isolate the people like this guy from people who had a mad two minutes. Keeping the distinction between those two totally different situations is important.

I believe if you look up the words worthless, low-down, waste of human DNA you might see Mick's picture. I love how he gets all indignant "I don't care what you think about my having 17 kids because at the end of the day it's my life and my business". Well, that's not exactly true, you piece of garbage. When the people are paying for all your kids because your worthless hide is too sorry to work, it actually becomes the business of all those people who are raising your children. Oh, and Mick, BTW, for what you did to your children, England should reinstate the death penalty so you could have the honor of being the first person executed under the new law. When I see those two decent men who cry because they were unable to rescue the children and their own father is reminding their mother to cry a little, it makes me ill. I hope those men have found some peace by knowing that they did their best to rescue the children and NO ONE is to blame for the children's deaths except the scumbag parents. **** I don't believe the interview with the men who made the heroic effort to rescue the children and cried while they explained how they were unable to do so was included in this particular piece but I saw it on another story about the children who died at the hands of their own mother and father. They were good and decent men and the very real grief they showed at their inability to save the children is in sharp contrast with the POS "father" who scrubbed at his eyes even though they were dry as could be and then asked his wife if she had cried while she told the story to the cops and/or the media.

Like so many things shit about this country, like its rail network, it’s due to the country being first, in this case pioneering incarceration as an alternative to execution or deportation, while being terminally unable since the mid-50s to engage in government capital infrastructure investment, mindful of genuine future need.

ITS CALLED A CONDOM. Every low income family is deserving of TWO children at most as long as the money is actually going towards those children. The reason why I say this is because a lot of low-income families do work they just can't get a living wage with a good job here in the US. and I don't think that if a woman really desires children that they should be denied that. Have more children if you can afford it. I don't think anyone should be deprived having child if they really want and are going to take care of them while low income but I also don't think that they should be allowed to have more than two. That will put a strain on tax payers. Unfortunately you do have idiots here that'll have child after child after child just to get benefits and it sickens me.

SENTENCED to 7yrs, he’s not even on parole for life!
In the US you rarely get a flat sentence (meaning no probation or parole after prison/jail) for any charge, let alone a murder!
This guy was CONVICTED of a murder charge, and isn’t even sentenced to any supervision. This is what happens in the UK and Canada, and they almost always reoffend for the same crime they’d usually be under supervision for in the US.
Unfortunately you have countries going to the extreme of both sides when it comes to the legal system. US acts far too harsh in a lot of scenarios they shouldn’t such as drug possession and other non violent offenses. And you have countries like UK and Canada who are way too lenient when it comes to serious crimes like murder and assault.
Canada has has multiple cases where murderers get out in under 15 years and murder someone else.
There should be zero tolerance for murder and serious assault. If someone is seriously remorseful sometimes they shouldn’t rot in prison either. But people often need supervision after release, especially in cases where the person has done a long prison stay.

There’s laws covering psychological abuse now, but sadly the victim needs to apply for a no contact order/restraining order. I’ve complained to police about my abusive natural family because they’ve committed hate crimes against me (homophobia and ableism) and whilst they can charge them under hate crime laws, they won’t offer a restraining order, that’s something I’ve to do myself. Tell you what else it would: Have the justice system dispense justice for once.

I am not an expert in UK law, I just looked it up on Wikipedia real quick. But there it states "The murder of two or more persons" would be punished with a minimum sentence of 30 years. So, when Mick got sentenced to 15 years, didn't the jury (or whoever is responsible for the punishment) think it was murder? I really don't understand this verdict at all.

    • @tcritt
      @tcritt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@wohlhabendermanager The jury doesn't choose the charges or the sentence. The CPS decides the charges, the jury decides if he is guilty and the judge decides the sentence. Murder has a strict legal definition, and if he didn't mean to kill them, then it's not murder. There is a mandatory 'life sentence' in the UK for murder, but as far as I know, there is no mandatory minimum for the number of years of that sentence you will serve in custody. You could get a life sentence, be out in less than 10 and then serve the rest on license.

I would hope you're right....but sadly, it doesn't always work that way. I watched a crime show last night where a bloke murdered his girlfriend thru a window that was covered by a mini blind and black trash bag with a .40 cal. He then went outside and shot her several more times while she was bleeding out on his porch. He stood directly over her shooting in a downward angle. His sentence? TEN years!!! From what I read they reached a plea deal for 2nd degree murder. Sometimes the system fast tracks cases just to clear their overload of cases....but 10 years? That's just a little over a year for every bullet he shot into her. )According to reports he "knew" she was coming over there at the time it happened.)
Then this morning I see where a guy was sentenced to 30 years to life for holding up a bank with an ink pen in his pocket because it resembled a gun thru hoodie because of the way he was holding it. (He had only minor incidents before then.). No one was physically harmed, and he was captured within moments.
I love my country and the officers, servicemen, and all others who serve & protect it. I worry for a system where justice isn't fair. Bad lawyers and judges have destroyed the system.

@@andrewjackson2011 I think that in some ways we've become too smugly humane and sophisticated for our own good. I agree with you, and with those who lived in days of old, that in cases where the evil is manifest and perpetrator certainly known, the punishment should be swift and match the gravity of the crime. For in the end it is a heavy burden upon society, and indeed an evil itself, to keep such people around to continually vex us with their plots and disgusting antics, let alone to pay for their food & medical procedures, etc. when there are many innocent people in want.
I believe that often a lack of noble resolve and a disinterest in the sufferings of others is the real reason such people are allowed to live. And if I was in charge I would gladly hand over to you all the Philpotts our society could catch.
