Let everyone have a taste of where HOA's eventually go.

I bought a new mailbox and painted it to look dented and rusty. I am an artist so it turned out to be very realistic. The post master sent someone to inspect my mailbox and mail delivery was restored. I heard through the grapevine of this backward rural area that the postmaster as pissed off but had no choice. He was later arrested for embezzlement. I won.
As a schoolboy a friend, his mother was American, and he told me that his uncle who was an iron worker long story short he had a story very like yours, his uncle remade his mail box out of painted steel and use a steel post. The next time someone tried to smash from the back pickup truck, the young man ended up going over the tail gate of the truck.
It’s still an “eyesore,” yet in compliance behind the fence. I remember some years back on the TV show “Little People” he was building a railing on his deck and it had to be so many feet high that it would have literally been at his eye level. So he added dirt to the ground and was able to be “in compliance,” yet out of his view.
As a kid of the 60s we knew a Guy who did the same thing with his RV...he built on to his home a garage large enough to hold the RV than had a artist paint a RV on the side of the Garage

The idiots in a city I lived did this to my parents. My father was a veteran who had to deal with harassment by the city for stupid things. Especially after they tore down the tiny house next to us and built a Mcmansion. Immediately the people that moved in had complaints about everything including parking in front of their house, saying they owned the street! My parents were forced to spend nearly $1,000 to put a fence up to cover the motorhome they already had before these people moved in! Distance from 6 feet high in the motorhome was 8 1/2 ft high. The house next door literally blocked sunlight and they could see directly into our backyard from their second floor. So what was the purpose of making my parents put a fence up, except for crossing my parents money! My father worked in the military installing phone lines for the soldiers in brutal cold weather just to be harassed by the city that he lived in!
This is why government over reach has gone way too far. Our law is not for people but money. Common law needs to be relearnt by common people take back our power. Corporations shareholders were given priority in the 1920s and the common people have been screwed over, starting with the biggest fraudulent organisation, pharmaceuticals.
I live in an area where there are almost are no lots available new construction. The vast majority of "new" homes are tear-downs or remodels. There are also severe restrictions on the percentage of any given lot that can be covered. So the only way to get more room is to build up. Our immediate neighborhood is older, fairly modest single level homes, but many have nice views of the surrounding mountains, meadows and forest. Most full time residents (it's a popular vacation spot) have trepidation any time one of these single levels goes up for sale because of the very real possibility that the buyer, often an absentee landlord, will add a 2nd or 3rd story, and (god forbid), turn it into a vacation rental. This inevitably means a loss of privacy, views, and all the inconvenience, obnoxious renters and noise that goes along with these types of rentals. Happens all the time.
Well in areas of farmland, people move in complaining of the smell. Crazy huh? how about buying that well priced house near the airport and then complain about the noise?
