Thank you so much for this! It was a great crash course and I feel much more at ease now with ventilators if the situation arises where RT is not available and I need to make decisions for my patients. I also appreciate the free courses you are offering, you have no idea how much this means to many who are unsure about the future of the economy and jobs and so on. Even though I am still working, not everyone is and this is huge!!! I also look forward to the online study courses, such as the CEN as I really want to obtain mine, but with everything going on, it is getting harder to pay for the study courses and the test fees. Thank you again for all you do for us in helping, just know it is greatly appreciated. -Misty, ED RN
I'm an ICU nurse with 10+ years experience. This is still too complicated for the average nurse who is taking her first vented patient ever. Please cover the basics in a basic way. Where is the Rapid Sequence kit? How to assist with intubation? How to suction? How to adjust the FiO2? When peak pressures are high? What is a cuff leak? What is a mucus plug? How to increase the AC rate? How to increase the PEEP? Usually Respiratory would address these concerns, but they are busier than ever! The RN needs to know how to manage the vent until RT is available. 😳
you are an amazing tutor
Great stuff! Thanks for posting. Stay safe!
