  • In this video I cover some high level topics like autofocus, using the camera in the bolt and some general processes with the bolt. We take a general look at the controller and how it functions. We watch how the bolt engraves and what time differences are between a 700mm/s engrave and a 400mm/s engrave. This project is fast and easy to do with the new Thunder Bolt!
    Clarification for Mac users intending on using the camera. if you’re running a Mac thunder recommends using an Ethernet able for more reliable connections. You will still need the usb cable to operate the camera.

    Great video! Looks like your the first channel other than Thunder to feature this machine. Congratulations. I was just about ready to pull the trigger on another desktop laser when they announced this. This machine is now the front runner and most likely what I will purchase. You just can’t beat Thunder quality. I wonder though if it is capable of working with 30oz tumblers on a rotary. Tumblers are still very popular where I am and being able to work with larger tumblers is a must. I’d love to know your thoughts.

      Yes doing 30 oz tumblers on the bolt is no problem. I’ve done several

      Thankmyou for the suggestion, yes that’s coming very soon, a modified piBurn grip(shorter main rail) works great in the bolt. you will need a Twister tray that I make or buy the supports that piBurn will be coming up with. my twister tray is available now here

    Is the final cutting board shown the same that is shown being lasered? I just ask because the first spoon looks like part of it didn't engrave along with the lower star. Wondering if it is just the glare of the lid or what? I have a Bolt coming in and am watching all the videos. Thanks for doing them.

    • @computercreationz

      Yes, at the end and pictured at the end, it's been oiled and reflects what you would deliver to the customer, the board was very dry when it was engraved. The 400mm engraving is deeper than the 700 mm engrave Different wood grain too with that type of wood.

    • @computercreationz

      You’re one of the first to connect with a Mac on the bolt so that’s good news. Some struggle with Mac connection on the nova series

    Hey Robert, another great video. Do you know if the Bolt comes with hybrid servo motors or does it have stepper motors like epilogs? I couldn't find that information on there website.

    • @computercreationz

      usually stepper motors are slower than hybrid motors. not sure what the epilogue has. the nova series lasers are 1000mm/s and the Odin series thunders are 2000mm/s the Bolt is 1000mm/s as well.

    • @Manlilow

      @@computercreationz Actually I got those reversed the epilogs use a high speed servo, which has very little overrun allowing you to engrave at full speed, unlike stepper or hybrid stepper motors which has to slow down to stop and the faster you go the more overrun to each edge. The glass tubes also have trouble engraving at high speeds unlike the RF tube like the bolt. I know you said you could run all day at 700mms, just wondering why not 1000mms.

    • @computercreationz

    Can you please do a video with the Thunder Bolt laser, cutting out different materials at various thickness?

    • @computercreationz

      Cutting wood 1/4” or thicker with this laser is slow, if cutting wood products of this thickness is your main focus this laser is not for you. It’s cuts all 1/8” materials fine and does a beautiful job on engraving with unreal detail!

    • @1-Nice-Guy

      @@computercreationz thank you for your honesty, knowing that the Bolt does not do 1/4" thick wood to well is a disappointment.

    What is the advantages of rf over diodes, uv, co2
    .

    • @computercreationz

      RF tubes have a much smaller beam spot great for engraving details, 10,000 hour lifencompared to 2000-4000 hours for co2 glass tubew, much faster than diode!, No chiller needed. Takes up less room in your work space. There are the types of co2 tubes you find in very high end lasers like Trotec or epilog.
