Thanks for featuring a MK2 TTRS Marcus, I sold my 1994 JDM MR2 turbo hardtop and bought a 2011 manual TTRS it was the only modern 2 door sports car that really spoke to me and felt unique enough to fill the place of my MR2. absolutely love it they have quite a special feel when driving them from the way they sound and still slightly raw without too much electronic nannies.
Interesting! My brother has a 3sGTE Mr2 and I desperately want a TTRS. He's forging it soon and I hope to get what you have so we can go out together. Old and new-ish. Enjoy your TTRS dude
Absolutely! I'm sure that was a tough sell for you to get rid of the MR2 Turbo.. I had the same up until about a year ago :D Still absolutely on the right side of the analog era which is great. Glad you're enjoying it.
I bought one this summer and I’m in love. Fun, sporty and somewhat practical for a daily driver. I love the sleek restrained styling. A lot of random inquiries about it when I drive it.
Wow, I’m only three minutes in and I’m already impressed by the video. I currently own a 2012 Nissan 370z Nismo that I’ll be supercharging to around 500whp soon, but I’m so interested in the second generation RS. I had the chance to drive a friends mk3 TT-S with an APR Stage 2 package equipped and I was blown away by how it drove. Seeing as I prefer a manual transmission and I couldn’t afford a mk3 RS even if I wanted a DCT, I think I’ll be looking to pick one of these up as my next car eventually. My biggest issue with this car so far is that it’s so rare that it’s nearly impossible to find new content about them on TH-cam or Instagram. Great video.
The TTRS was and is possibly now still much faster than a RS 3 so not sure where "its not a RS 3" came from. By way of history the RS3 engine came from TTRS not the other way round. The engine has not changed much apart from cheaper less reliable plastic and aluminium parts so that is not necessarily an advantage.
I own an 8J TT RS and I will tell you that the generations of the RS 3 and TT RS are right on par with each other. Obviously the DSG will be quicker than the manual. We didn't get the 8P RS 3 in North America, and that would be a direct comparison. The TT RS was indeed introduced in 2009 while the first RS 3 came out in 2011. The TT is a little bit lighter, but the weight difference is minimal, therefore the TT RS is NOT "much faster."
@@safetyofficer4689 its faster ;) 8j is about 1450kg and 8p is about 1600-1700kg depends of spec. Plus tt has better aero. During 100-200 pulls you need 100hp more in rs3 to match tt rs etc.
@@radosaw4935 Oh, I don't question that it's faster. Like you said, it's a smaller car. 150-200kg isn't going to result in a "much faster" car though, like the previous person commented. And I don't think you'd need 100hp to keep up.
