That's such a great idea, I need to revert back to being that person but (and I'm not joking or being sarcastic) when I was a non-plaintive person, people treated me like I was some fucking muffin-rainbow airhead. So now that I'm a negative nanny I'm the most popular girl in the office and even got promoted!! However, life, in my head, was better when I wasn't complaining.
Three weeks ago I stopped drinking coffee because of my anxiety and how stressed I was. I was a coffee addict for two years I then started drinking green tea and it's amazing the difference I felt!! I am more relaxed, less stressed and I am calm!! It's worth it!!
BostonBarbieDoll I rarely put heat or chemical based products in my hair except my typical shampoo snd conditioner. Only use heat and chemicals on special occasions
Back in highschool (this is over 10 years ago now *shiver*) there was a girlfriend of mine that would drink a can of coca-cola every morning. I challenged her to skip it for a couple days and the first morning? She was shaking like a leaf and pale, sweating profusely, VERY irritable...poor thing had to cave because she was just SO miserable. Caffeine addiction is no joke people!
I almost completely gave up coffeine. I drink a cup of tea per week (black tea) and I feel amazing. People don't understand that you feel more energized without coffein than with.
+Refinery29 About 5 years ago, I gave up coffee, cold turkey, for 2 years because of anxiety issues. Thankfully, the anxiety issues went away when I stopped coffee. I have since found a coffee brand that does not give me the issues and I am back in love with the nectar of the Gods. Coffee for me is all about the warmth and perfect smell.
Tea. I could not give up tea. Tea is amazing. I don't pay attention to if the tea has caffeine in it or not. But I believe most of the ones that I drink most frequently do. But tea is so good I just love it so much.
I've given up processed sugar, certain fruits, chocolate and coffee for weeks and sometimes months at a time throughout my life. I don't think I could ever give up the Internet for more than a few of hours.
+Iman Cut it out cold turkey. Make the decision once and then you don't have to deal with it anymore. Letting yourself just have a little bit is actually harder because you're always having to make the decision of "should I, shouldn't I" Also, you can make your own deserts with a good quality stevia, which is a natural sugar free sweetener, without any negative effects.
+Iman with the chocolate I cut it out for 2 weeks, I ended up having yogurt and bananas a bit more to get that creamy feel. The sugar was tough, the first time I cut it out was a coincidence and for nearly 6 months. I just happened to be extra poor and could only afford a few different foods and sugar wasn't in the budget. It worked really well and I became sensitive to sugar to the point that I could taste how sweet cows milk is. The second time I cut sugar was kind of a fail, I wanted to hold out for a month but could only do 3 weeks. What I did was cut down on my fruit intake a ton, especially in the morning, so I didn't have that sweetness trigger. I also started going for walks around my neighborhood when I really wanted something super sweet. The combination of the fresh air and distance from my kitchen worked. I broke down the day before a party where I knew there would be desserts I couldn't resist. Hope this helps!
+Christina Miller thanks! I do use Stevia to sweeten my drinks, I won't ever get back to adding sugar to them :) Yeah, I guess it is best to cut it out once and for all, but sometimes I have no discipline at all and yeah... Well I'm gonna try a sugar free week and then keep extending that period until I'm completely living without any processed sugar
I'm a barista and every time I promise not to drink any coffee, I drink even more coffee than I usually do. I'm addicted. The smell, the warmth, the buzzy feeling, the alertness it gives me. I NEED A COFFEE
I work at Starbucks and tommorow I won't be drinking coffee for a month to see how the changes are. Its addictive I know, but to me I quit soda for 2 months and coffee won't be a problem for me. Still, it's going to be so much fun anyway.
I didn't see anyone else notice this in the comments, but Lucie's teeth are so PERFECT! Besides this (I'm not crazy, I just wish I had her teeth) I need to say that I watched every single episode of Try Living With Lucie and LOVE the series as well as her great personality!
I decided to give coffee up for a week and see what I feel like at the end of it. I was just fine so I kind of gave it up altogether. It has been 5 weeks now and I feel fine. I still drink it sometimes though, like every two weeks, socially. Love your videos Lucie xxxxxx
Sophia M. I didnt realise my stomach problems were due to coffee.. i tried giving it up but my god the headaches! But after some days it was fine!! And now i drink occasionaly
I love this series. And Lucie is so adorable Can you do *5 days of (Ramadan) fasting*? (and only eating halal food when breaking the fast - after sunset and before sunrise)
I would love to see Lucie go one week drinking de-caff instead of regular coffee. That way she could still get the feelings, smell, etc. and we could understand better how caffeine effects her.
I can't give up Lip balm. I'm addicted. If I think about it I have to put some on otherwise I go crazy. I have about 7 lip balms around my house at any given time. Annd now I gotta put some on now because I'm thinking about it.
+TallyPlant OMG, I though I was the only on that was addicted to Lip Balm. I have some in my car, desk (at work), gym bag, bag as well as in my makeup bag. I even have some in my home office desk and kitchen. This is really a problem...lol. The funny thing is, is that I just put some on right before I jumped on TH-cam.
There is something amazing about a hot cup of coffee or tea. the steam, the smells, the warmth. My english friends call it a "Hug in a mug." I could never give up sugar for a week. It's as much mental as physical.
so ramadan started on monday... and on my first day, I skipped coffee thinking it would make me too hyper. but skipping it ,gave me a massive headache, plus the sore throat I got the night before, wasn't at all fun. The whole day my head was spinning, my throat was burning, it was hell. And then, when the fast was over, I started crying, at the dinner table, because it hurt so bad, and I couldn't swallow for a few hours. I took it as hormone imbalance because I just finished my period the day before ramadan. But it's day 5 now, and so far so good! Alhamdulillah! (praise Allah)
I've been 10 days coffee sober. The first seven were painful with headaches and irritability like you. But the 8th day was magical! I felt awesome! I was a coffee addict drinking 2-4 cups a day as well, I didn't want to depend on coffee to help me through a day! I have saved tons of $$$!
not to defeat the purpose of giving up coffee most personals stay to give it up switch to decaf, start with 75% normal coffee 25% decaf and go all the way down to 0 to help with headaches.
This was so wonderful Lucie. I periodically quit coffee because I add too much milk and sugar and I refuse to live without my hot creamy sweet goodness. You perfectly described my feelings. What could I not live without for a week? I'm going to say riding the train without book/phone/magazine/newspaper. I don't even want to think about it.
I open a coffee shop every day at 4 a.m. and started to drink A TON of coffee because of it. I started to notice that I'd have a day off and wake up with a caffeine headache. It was awful. It took me about 3 months to fully break my caffeine habit. Those months were filled with headaches, sneaking coffee, and a whole lot of complaining. I feel you.
I gave up caffeine, I read all these benefits and I gave it a try. I only drink green tea decaf and I feel amazing my skin looks much better, I sleep better, my teeth are whiter and green tea also has anti-ageing properties. Overall feel better look better, see if you can give it a try.
I gave up alcohol in April of the last year. Wanted to just try. Now it's 1 year without drinks or wine, actually, it feels good. I was so surprised just after 3 weeks of no alcohol, of how often I get invitation to have a bit of some alcohol from friends, colleagues or even family members! I never noticed how often I have a drink until I stopped using it. Even went to 1 wedding and didn't use any alcohol at all. I think everyone should try this.
I find it funny how people love coffee and "cant live without it" whereas Im the exact opposite and cant stand the stuff and have never drank a full cup in my life and Im 22 lol. I hate coffee sweets, coffee cake, coffee drinks. Everything. If I could name 3 food/drink I hate the most in the world coffee is up there along with liquorice and olives lol.
My skin lost it’s dull pigment after giving up coffee,I looked 5 years younger and not as depressed. Starting again today, the first time I was off for over a year and did not feel an urge to drink it. Second time was only a month,it’s the smell that got me,now I get up twice in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Time to ride the pain again and come out fresher than a daisy.
I never drink coffee for energy, I drink it to get this nostalgic feeling from when I was little, and my mom and dad where together, the smell, the look, everything about it reminds me of the time we were a complete family
I just stumbled upon this series and have now watched...I lost count, 5? I have to say, you are adorable, engaging, and quite comical. I love that you make this series educational and not just "lets see how far I can push myself." I can't wait to watch more! And I totally get the love affair with coffee. I worked at a coffee shop for 5 years and actually didn't drink coffee then, mostly stuck with tea, but holding the warm mug or paper cup of sweet or spiced and frothy or creamy hot caffeinated goodness, mmmmm, that totally does it for me.
Oh and also, I cannot live without sweets! Whether its a square of dark chocolate, an éclair or even a muffin, I can't do without it. Believe me I've tried.
I gave up coffee and tea and switched to herbal tea and soda water (when at restaurants) and I definitely feel like I have much more consistent energy, less stress and less tenseness in my shoulders. I sleep a lotttt better. I still drink Four sigmatic's mushroom coffee every now and then as a treat. It only has 40mg of caffeine.
I can never let go of tea...ever. I have reduced my tea in-take a little bit over the years though. I've gone from drinking a whole pot of tea (rough equivalent of 7-8 cups) to myself to now only having 3 cups a day and rarely having any caffeine after 3-4pm. If I have a cup of coffee I might take out a cup of tea during my day but that takes a lot of will power for me.
I'm pregnant and before I found out I was drinking 3-4 cups daily. Now I'm limited to one and its much more difficult than expected! Like Lucie, the smell/heat/atmosphere of having a cup makes me more focused and at ease - it's not all about the caffeine
I personally hate coffee . 2 days ago , my friends forced me to go to a fortune-teller and i had to drink a cup of turkish coffee . OMG . I ALMOST PUKED . then they forced me to try softer coffee's and they were disgusting either . My best friend is a coffee addict , and she wakes up every morning sooooooooooooo annoying , and so frustrated , she needs the coffee . But me , i wake up just tired, drink a big glass of cold water, wash my face and we are awaken the same amount . She is just addicted and I AM NOT AHAHAHHA :D i just love hating coffee :D
The headaches are from you having so much coffee every single day to having nothing is making your body feel sick and its begging for coffee! there for you must just drink less every day until 1 cupa day or 1 every other day to regulate your system and keep your health level steady ..
I'm with Krystian Mazgajewski on this one. I don't use the word "addict" out of sensitivity for people I know personally who have been truly addicted to something and the addiction had a massively negative impact on their lives (addicted to work, porn, heroin, etc.). That said I am not ashamed of drinking a cup of coffee habitually every day... I also have a habit of brushing my teeth and showering and opening Instagram to get some inspiration from amazing photographers first thing in the morning before I even roll out of bed (after my alarm clock on my phone goes off). To each his/her own.
I did a no sugar diet (not counting the natural sugars in fruits, veggies, nuts and dairy). It was so hard honestly. But it definitely was a learning experience! My goal was to go a month, but after only 2 weeks I learned that my body didn't have that physical addiction like I thought it did. Plus, I want to enjoy the sweets and take advantage of the fact that my body can handle them while I'm still "young".
I was like this, and in the end I decided to go down from 2-4 cups a day to 1-2 a day. If I want more I have decaffeinated coffee. I drink much more ginger tea etc now instead. I definitely have to have at least 1 cup a day though, in the morning. I definitely avoid it past midday.
as a Swede, coffee is like apart of everyday life. "if you don't drink Coffee, you are not grown up yet" is something commonly said here in Sweden. you said 2-4 cops/day here 2-4 cup is just one break sort of. Swedes drinks about 3.2 per day and person. me myself can drink up to 10 cups a normal day and far more if it si some special kind of occasion. The Swedish 'fika' is a part of our culture and most every coffee place here offers one or 2 refills. and meny restaurants offers coffe after your meel when you buy a Lunch for example. //Joe
Coffee is also known to lower or raise blood pressure and for me, occasionally, cause anemia. It is also harsh on the colon (as far as I can remember). So once a month, I replace coffee by drinking twice as much water which will actually give the same affect (without the beauty of a warm cup of coffee) or replace it with a light herbal tea that actually has restorative properties (such as oolong or matcha). Great video! I am now subscribed and hooked on your channel!
weird how addition work , I usually have about 8 - 10 cups of coffee a day. But have stopped drinking coffee sometimes because I preferred rooibos tee ( no caffeine ). Somedays especially in the winter coffee taste soooooo good but warm sunny days, I don't like coffee :)
I grew up in India so coffee wasn't one of the necessities. Then I moved to Toronto, and I see coffee shop everywhere, still didn't drink coffee until this year. Becoz of the school and workload, coffee became my lifesaver. Now I can say I am addicted to it Coz without a cup of coffee a day, I get all the same manifestation as yours. So I, too, can't live without a coffee!
Some nutrition expert said to me, drink 1,5 or 2 liters of pure water daily. She said coffee causes dehydration, but if want to drink coffeee, drink also other 4 cups of water.
Omg I absolutely love this!!!!!!! I think it would be so cool to do a five days with no phone and a five days off intense gym sessions see how each of them affect your body. Will the phoneless days make you more active, and will the gym sessions make you strong and sore?? We will wait and see
Have done this for a week now and it feels great! Now drinking chocomalt drink (we call it, MILO, here in the Phils... or sterilized milk will do. Thank you for the tips!
I used to be a person who drank coffee 1-3 cups a day out of habit not because I needed the caffeine (honestly it has no effect on me energy wise or alterness). I had a migraine where I threw my morning breakfast and coffee all of a sudden I had much less desire to drink coffee. This was going into my junior year of highschool. I cut back to once a day during the week days. I cut back even further eventually to 2-3 times a week or so. I have always loved coffee because of the taste and having it less and more a few times a week allows me to really taste the coffee. When I first started drinking coffee it was with sugary creamer with some sugar added. I transitioned to creamer only, then heavy cream, half and half, and now can even use milk sometimes. I definitely prefer half and half or heavy cream, because I like a creamy, milky coffee. I am an iced person though and can't stand hot coffee. Coffee is an experience for me now vs a daily ritual and I like it better that way. I can enjoy coffee way more because of it.
I would always drink like 5 to 6 cups of coffee a day and then when I got pregnant I had to stop and only then did I realise how addicted I was it was so hard it was like withdrawal symptoms constantly ! Headaches were the worst pain ever !
In my whole coffee life, I only abstained for thfirst trimester of my pregnancy. After which I convincenced my ob to let me drink once a week.. After a month I drank once a day. After my pregnancy, I was back to 2-5 cups of coffee!!! Woohoo!!! I really feel you Lucie ☕️☕️☕️☕️💖😘😁
I used to be obsessed with coffee and drink it all the time day and night! After I got diagnosed with PTSD I noticed caffeine coffee in particular would bring on my anxiety / Panic/ PTSD attacks and I haven't drink a sip of coffee in a couple years now!
Thanks for the video. I suggest maybe creating a 10+ day series, because based on statistics a sample size of 5 is much too small to get an accurate reading.
Started drinking coffee since I was 8 or something but I decided to give it up after 10 years because I realised that it didn't help me stay awake anymore. Major headaches for 2 whole days and minor ones for about a week but after that I was coping just well as I did before when I had coffee.
Here's an idea: give up complaining for 5 days. I tried this and failed miserably.
+Monica V HAHA! I try this every morning, SAME girl!
yes
Good one
That's such a great idea, I need to revert back to being that person but (and I'm not joking or being sarcastic) when I was a non-plaintive person, people treated me like I was some fucking muffin-rainbow airhead. So now that I'm a negative nanny I'm the most popular girl in the office and even got promoted!! However, life, in my head, was better when I wasn't complaining.
Monica V lol!!! Must try!!!!
Coffee doesn't give me energy, but it just makes me happy when I'm drinking it.
+Angela L ok, don't tell anyone but some of us agree with you. xx
Same for me.... I just love the taste of it....
+Refinery29 k
Same
Coffee doesn't give anyone energy, it just temporarily tricks you into thing you into thinking you have more
Three weeks ago I stopped drinking coffee because of my anxiety and how stressed I was. I was a coffee addict for two years I then started drinking green tea and it's amazing the difference I felt!! I am more relaxed, less stressed and I am calm!! It's worth it!!

You should do 5 days of drinking warm lemon water when you wake up and before you go to sleep 😊
Why Lucy are using a desposable cup to take tea? This was before or after The week without trash?
not to defeat the purpose of giving up coffee most personals stay to give it up switch to decaf, start with 75% normal coffee 25% decaf and go all the way down to 0 to help with headaches.

+Marmar R. Well you're only supposed to wash your hair like every 5 days anyways..
I cannot give up TH-cam for a week! Gosh, m addicted!
I honestly hate coffee

Your addiction to coffee scared me lol I dont drink coffee, nor do i drink tea often.

I´d love to see Lucie trying 5 days without showering... or without washing her hair. Is that weird?
+Laina T No joke, we've talk about that. xx
I had a terrible headache when I stopped drinking coffee! It was the withdrawal and it really shocked me how much my body was asking for it!
I find it funny how people love coffee and "cant live without it" whereas Im the exact opposite and cant stand the stuff and have never drank a full cup in my life and Im 22 lol. YAY TRY LIVING WITH LUCIE IS BACK WITH A BANG!!! Great job Lucie, I dont drink nearly as much coffee as you but i could definitely feel your pain
I wouldn't saw I like coffee. Whenever I drink it I have to drown it in sugar/creamer...which masks the actual coffee flavor
My skin lost it’s dull pigment after giving up coffee,I looked 5 years younger and not as depressed.
Starting again today, the first time I was off for over a year and did not feel an urge to drink it.

i couldnt give up bread for week
Can you pls make a 5 days of saving the environment. It'll be very interesting and inspirational.
5 days is bodybuilding! Aka weight lifting
I never drink coffee for energy, I drink it to get this nostalgic feeling from when I was little, and my mom and dad where together, the smell, the look, everything about it reminds me of the time we were a complete family

Oh and also, I cannot live without sweets! Whether its a square of dark chocolate, an éclair or even a muffin, I can't do without it. Believe me I've tried.
I could not give up on TH-cam
I gave up coffee and tea and switched to herbal tea and soda water (when at restaurants) and I definitely feel like I have much more consistent energy, less stress and less tenseness in my shoulders. I sleep a lotttt better. I still drink Four sigmatic's mushroom coffee every now and then as a treat. It only has 40mg of caffeine.
It's called a caffeine addiction and boy does she have it!
Smoothies are my coffee!! I hate the taste of coffee so much. My day doesn't feel right if I don't have my daily smoothie in the morning!
I'm pregnant and before I found out I was drinking 3-4 cups daily. Now I'm limited to one and its much more difficult than expected! Like Lucie, the smell/heat/atmosphere of having a cup makes me more focused and at ease - it's not all about the caffeine
5 days of learning how to code
5 days of volunteering in retirement home
I gave up coffee a few months ago the headaches and stuff will go away and you will feel a lot better!!

า
Same here I hate coffee with a passion, even lattes every damn thing but I love cappuccino that shits the bomb lol.
Do you have planned trips to the bathroom? Just wondering.
5 days of going green!
you mean being a vegan?
There's an indescribable feeling to that first sip of coffee 💞. Been abstaining from it for almost half a year.
5 days with no mirrors/reflections
The headaches are from you having so much coffee every single day to having nothing is making your body feel sick and its begging for coffee! there for you must just drink less every day until 1 cupa day or 1 every other day to regulate your system and keep your health level steady
..
no internet for a week
I'm with Krystian Mazgajewski on this one. I don't use the word "addict" out of sensitivity for people I know personally who have been truly addicted to something and the addiction had a massively negative impact on their lives (addicted to work, porn, heroin, etc.). That said I am not ashamed of drinking a cup of coffee habitually every day... I also have a habit of brushing my teeth and showering and opening Instagram to get some inspiration from amazing photographers first thing in the morning before I even roll out of bed (after my alarm clock on my phone goes off). To each his/her own.
What about "5 days with no colour"?
+Brita Bakk Ugulen Hey! Can you elaborate?
+Refinery29 Like, only wearing white, all white decor, etc.
Could never stop eating fruit🍒🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋🍌🍉🍇🍓🍈🍑🍍🍅
I was like this, and in the end I decided to go down from 2-4 cups a day to 1-2 a day. If I want more I have decaffeinated coffee. I drink much more ginger tea etc now instead. I definitely have to have at least 1 cup a day though, in the morning. I definitely avoid it past midday.
5 days of no sugar!!
as a Swede, coffee is like apart of everyday life.

Caffeine is a drug
Coffee is also known to lower or raise blood pressure and for me, occasionally, cause anemia. It is also harsh on the colon (as far as I can remember). So once a month, I replace coffee by drinking twice as much water which will actually give the same affect (without the beauty of a warm cup of coffee) or replace it with a light herbal tea that actually has restorative properties (such as oolong or matcha).
Great video! I am now subscribed and hooked on your channel!
5 days without wearing a bra? I think i could, I have a small chest :) lol
i love when lucie does her five day challenges! please do 5 days of eating vegan!!!
i never drink coffee and guess what? I NEVER get headaches. lack of caffeine? pls stop complaining
I never do heroin and guess what? I don't miss it, like, ever.
weird how addition work , I usually have about 8 - 10 cups of coffee a day. But have stopped drinking coffee sometimes because I preferred rooibos tee ( no caffeine ). Somedays especially in the winter coffee taste soooooo good but warm sunny days, I don't like coffee :)
I hate coffee :/
I love your series!
Internet. Not even 5 hours... Also, what's wrong with being addicted to coffee. I dare you say it causes cancer.
caffeine increases cortisol the stress hormone. just go Google why is stress bad for you.
where is your bracelet from? it's adorable!
Your cons are typical of addiction. Leave the coffee for a month and sure these cons disappear.
We will wait and see
For people who have chronic constipation, extra trips to the baño is a blessing, not a drawback 😂
But I sleep a lot better now !

Honestly i probably couln't give up my bujo!! I love it so much and it brings me so much joy to look at the hard work i've put into it.
love this series!
In my whole coffee life, I only abstained for thfirst trimester of my pregnancy. After which I convincenced my ob to let me drink once a week.. After a month I drank once a day. After my pregnancy, I was back to 2-5 cups of coffee!!! Woohoo!!! I really feel you Lucie ☕️☕️☕️☕️💖😘😁
yeah lucy I think youre addicted 😂 I could not loose one week without TH-cam 😭❤❤❤
Love you Lucie . I am 100% a coffee addict. I can not imagine my self with COFFEE.
such an awesome video!
Started drinking coffee since I was 8 or something but I decided to give it up after 10 years because I realised that it didn't help me stay awake anymore. Major headaches for 2 whole days and minor ones for about a week but after that I was coping just well as I did before when I had coffee.
