I thought about that, but since the vanilla game doesn't have any "axle in a block" type blocks, we'd always have a bit of an extra view into some of the uglier spaces inside the walls!
Will our intrepid locust Burt *ever* get his own room? A room with a heat source, a bed, and a water bowl? Tune in next week to find out! P.S.-Sorry to hear that you were ill, but glad that you are feeling better.
He's got a job as a security guard in the butterfly room! XD I pay him in rusty gears and metal parts. Thanks--I'm all better now, and working on catching up!
Love episodes like this! Always very cozy. Why don’t you add a small handle to the panel in front of the windmill shaft thing so it’s like a little door for maintenance? That way the boards on both sides are not too out of place in the hallway and it looks like they have a purpose other than support.
Thank you! :) Someone else mentioned that, too (over on Discord). I didn't want to call more attention to it than necessary, since my original vision was to completely hide the axle.
Not strictly related to this episode, but I've been playing around in the 1.19 pre-releases and.... chiseling with slabs now works as expected! If you haven't tried out the pre-releases, it was worth it for me just to know that that was finally fixed.
Yeah, I saw that Tyron had fixed that bug! I'm excited to be able to actually use all of the material in a block again. I just hope it also fixed the issue with chiseling stairs. I haven't tried chiseling stairs since the start of 1.18 but in the last version, it was never possible to add material back to a stair block!
I love the top of the arched window just for the shape in the middle. It looks to me like a butterfly, beautiful on its own but also meaningful as a bit of a core feature of this playthrough.
Might be a lot more hassle than it's worth, but using a combination of glass, quartz glass, and possibly ice to give the window a little unevenness could look really good
I'm wondering if you should maybe slab the pumpkin patch water holes like you did in the greenhouse. If vines can grow across any solid block that isn't dirt it would open up all directions for growth. Having all the vines grow off in the same "upwards then right" direction would be oddly coincidental, but Murphy's law and all that.
That window man, wow... that looks great! Also WTB "Fill Tool" to select an area and it fills in everything in-between, that would be PERFECT for filling in custom glass panels. I honestly don't know if I have the patience to make such a glorious window lol and if I did I'd make every excuse to copy paste that design everywhere just to make that pain worth it xD
Thank you! Yeah, working with glass is a pain in the.... glass. The hand planer gives you SOME ability to fill row by row, but it's not perfect. Still better than doing it all by hand one pixel at a time!
I love chiseling so much, it lets you get so detailed with a build, even if it is extremely wonky. Also I'm so excited for connected textures in 1.19. The baseline glass blocks look so ugly because of their thick black borders, I hope that they'll be able to connect together cause then I might use them in regular windows.
Chiseling really is such a great feature. If the requirements for having a "room" in the game were a bit more relaxed, I'd probably chisel all of my own windows. The panes are nice but not a perfect solution, especially for large windows!
Nice bunker man, 30+ rockets to TC i bet ;) am not sure but seems u can easy add one more tiny layer of foggy glass with thees additional chisel tools. maybe colored some of em =)
Adding another layer would actually be kind of complicated--and it would probably look better to just replace the existing one instead. With the pantograph, that would probably be pretty painless, though. Maybe at some point I'll do it!
Nicely done on the episode... Suggestion, though -- how 'bout adding in more of those boards in the hallway in a repeating pattern? That way they won't stand out as much...
Thanks! I'm thinking of keeping just those ones there; since they're centrally located in the house, it's kind of like the extra supports you'll see in some real-life homes, including my own! There's a steel I-beam running across the center of my house that supports basically everything, and in one of my rooms, the ceiling is actually sculpted around the beam to hide it... with wood paneling, actually, just like in this hallway! XD
Have you tried placing a beam across the gap in the front of the house, where the two sod roofs don't quite connect? I swear it's been bothering me for months now...
I dont know but can you modify a placed chiseled block with another block? You combined the limestone and the wood in the crafting grid but if you chisel it you can edit another block if press f which is much easier
Hey for future 20 Kuestions, what is your opinion on the Firearms mod? The circumstance that we have cementation furnaces but no blackpowder arms seems a bit off.
Hey, thanks for your question! (I'm assuming even though you didn't use the hashtag.) Someone else actually asked a very similar question that should get answered in the next 1-2 #20Kuestions segments!
Kurazarrh, Out of curiosity, at 28:00 is it possible to do colored glass, oppose to the clear? If it is possible, would you be willing to consider doing a few colored glass statuary, similar to the bee, but with a hidden candle under them.?... I'm pretty sure in last season you did mention something about stained glass. I am sorry, that I can not remember. Its nice to hear about possible family D&D game night.
Yep, you can do stained glass, which is something I'd like to get into sometime, though possibly in a future series. I think stained glass might be a bit too posh for a simple Hobbit-hole! As far as hiding candles goes, you can't chisel a block into the same space as a light source... which is a shame! Though there are some creative-mode-only light blocks that can provide light even after they are chiseled into another block. But given that we're in survival mode, we don't have access to those!
I think I can, but that would also rotate the whole block. Not the worst thing that could happen, though, and I could just re-chisel any decorations on that block that are visible in the room!
Just a short question have you played red dead? From my previous question (which was a very long time ago) i asked if you played popular titles you said you perferd slow and relaxing games such as Vintage and was wondering if you played red dead redemption 2? (Apologies for my bad English)
I should play Red Dead Redemption, but I never even bought either of the games. It's right up my alley, honestly, since I love RPG/adventure games with some action (Witcher, Mass Effect, etc). It's just that I haven't had the time to invest in huge games like that, and with Baldur's Gate 3 having come out, and having been a big fan of the BG games since their early days (old? Me? Nah!!!! >.>), it's kind of been pushed to the top of my list. XD
Going back and forth in terms of design on microchiseling is definitely my least favourite type of content to watch. That being said, overall it's still quite fun to watch you complete all those minor details that you missed so far. That, and clayworking and bearhunting is fun.
Thank you! :) I try to mix things up; some folks really like the deep chiseling and thoughtwork; others like the macro building, and some... a LOT, apparently, just like watching me noodle around with no goal in mind! XD
@33:00 or you could embrace it, have some kind of grating or access pannel that you can see the turning shaft through.
I thought about that, but since the vanilla game doesn't have any "axle in a block" type blocks, we'd always have a bit of an extra view into some of the uglier spaces inside the walls!
The first time you see the godrays hit your chiselled window you forget all about the pain of making it.
Yeah it was really cool to see!
Will our intrepid locust Burt *ever* get his own room? A room with a heat source, a bed, and a water bowl? Tune in next week to find out! P.S.-Sorry to hear that you were ill, but glad that you are feeling better.

you should have put the invisible pine in a display case lol
Hah! If only... and it would probably crash the game if I did! :P

The top of that arched hallway window would look amazing with a couple shades of coloured glass. Hope you are recovering quickly!
Thank you! It's been a couple days since the episode was recorded, but I am finally back to 100%!
Might be a lot more hassle than it's worth, but using a combination of glass, quartz glass, and possibly ice to give the window a little unevenness could look really good
That probably would look really good!
I think those pumpkin vines grew in the same direction.

Done and done! You and a couple other people mentioned slabbing those water holes, and you're 100% correct!
This was a fun episode!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!

Stained glass would have been beautiful. Awesome arches
Thank you! I think stained glass would be an interesting venture at some point, probably in a later series!
to fix that door texture: copy the shape with pantograph rotate with chisel and replace the shape with pantograph
I'll have to give that a try! Thanks!

Aah. Finally, I managed to get back to this series. Real life got nuts..
Welcome back!! You and me both! @.@
I think that room might have to be a bunny room!
Maybe so! :D

Ah, a beam! I do need to fix the front of the house a bit, to make it less blocky. A beam might be just the thing for that spot, too! :)
I dont know but can you modify a placed chiseled block with another block? You combined the limestone and the wood in the crafting grid but if you chisel it you can edit another block if press f which is much easier
It depends if the block you're adding is already chiseled or not. If they're already chiseled, you have to combine them in the crafting grid. :\
@@Kurazarrh ah okay that makes sense because i saw you doing what i described later in the Video
ok yeah that glass is pretty much invisible

I think the word you're looking for at about 23:45 is "mullion" 🤔
Aha! I don't think I've ever heard that word before! Am definitely only a block game architect, not a real one! XD
But what about the dirt next to your storage chests?
That's structurally important dirt! :P
Love your videos but you should turn the Panel in the hallway into a cupboard instead. Just a suggestion.
:) Thank you!

Sorry I’m going to be that guy: the kitchen chimney, you know
Shhh! They're not supposed to know! ;)
can't you change grain direction with a wrench?
I think I can, but that would also rotate the whole block. Not the worst thing that could happen, though, and I could just re-chisel any decorations on that block that are visible in the room!
@@Kurazarrh I think you'll do it eventually no matter how much you tell yourself you don't care, thats just that inner OCD

I've asked this before and I am asking once again, can you please stop saying "oh, queso" so much? You keep making me hungry 😋.
