How 'bout something from Upgrade? I thought it was particularly fun how Marshall-Green had Grey reacting to the way Stem controls his body while also protecting his head.
They Live is close to my heart for fight scenes because I've been in fights and they will gas you, it's not how long they last that gasses you it's how many punches without stopping by punch 12 of using full force you're gassed, you want to stop, it sucks and thats what makes sparring and cardio important because without it you will fail, have a friend who could build all day on construction spar him he's going for the kill but 10-12 punches he's panting, "They Live" conveys that sense of "you aren't a fighter you're just buff because the job demands it" because those 2 are construction workers not some soldiers just everyday folk. These guys can't fight very well, and if they have, they weren't long. The scene is so realistic to me because you can feel the energy drain as the scene goes on. At the beginning, very powerful punches are trying to hurt the other, and as it nears an end, it's more of "I just want to hit the guy" tired out of breath it feels real
Fyi, I was watching die hard with a vengeance on TH-cam movies yesterday and I realized there's an elevator fight scene, very similar to the one that they eventually used in Captain America Winter soldier. I then did a Google search and I think there are a few people that compare different elevator fight scenes and there's a bunch of them over the years. However the die-hard and the Captain America one are very similar in feel and tone in the sense that there's a smaller singular hero in the middle surrounded by bad guys.
Before die hard 3 was an elevator fight scene in Sonatine, which for gun play beats die hard but not the fight in Captain America. The Russo brothers had been making episodes of a show called Community and in one episode was a homage to Sonatine/Die Hard elevator scenes using paint ball guns.
@@satyb nice that you remember and caught all that. You are a true fan of media! Although, I never watched community, I didn't remember the die hard scene today and probably wouldn't have 10 years ago.
I'd love to see your analysis of the Ekko/Jinx fight in Arcane season 1. There's a LOT of great fights in Arcane, but the Ekko/Jinx one just fits in so much storytelling into a brief segment. It covers their childhood when they played together, but Ekko has learnt and moved forwards, whilst Jinx hasn't really moved on from her trauma and does exactly the same as when she was a child, playing. Come to think of it, that does feature a gun. Maybe for Arcane, the first fight between Vi and Sevika is a classic brawl.
I first saw Kingsman in China and that church fight scene was entirely edited out. It was only after I bought the movie through Apple that I was able to witness it in all its glory
Old Boy was excellent, but I don't know if I ever want to watch it again. I can watch They Live over and over. That fight scene is comedic and harkens back to old-time American westerns. Yakima Canutt and John Wayne kind of pioneered some of those techniques.
I'll keep asking for you to take a look at the hallway fight in Repo Men. It starts with guns but then goes in a crazy direction. Although, I can't explain the context without spoiling the film.
Just for reference th-cam.com/video/TnhWxmhUZDo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cF0jJNNdTUdDrqdB whole movie is full of flights like this. I'm curious to know what you think.
Hahaa! They were the ones mentioned the most in the comments. The Kitchen fight deffo isn't underrated! People call it the best fight ever, all the time! I've covered it before, in the first ever video about Movie Fights I've done :)
You should check out the fight scene in season 3 episode 8 of the TV Show “The Good Place”. There’s normally never any fighting in the show so I think it’d be a humorous scene to cover
@@MarcusFlemmings look up “Janet Kicks Some Demon Butt” and it should be the first video. The fight itself isn’t good compared to actual action movies but I found it both just as amusing as it was impressive for a comedy show
Man you need to react to the fight scene from transporter 1 (im Talking about the moment where he goes to the gang to take revenge for them blowing up his car)
Have I understood your statement correctly in which you described Birdman as the first film to have a 1 take look? If so, I must remind you of Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece Rope.
Shooting with multiple cameras don't mean it's getting the job faster. I worked on a TV show that's started with 2 Camera. That's normal. But in the end the director wanted to add a 3rd camera to that set and it's slow down the tempo of production. To Ridley Scott. In my opinion, he should retire with this attitude, he's not doing his reputation any favours. That's sad.
Agreed! I hope he does retire soon -- I don't watch his work anymore...it's literal trash. His last great movie was The Martian...should have tapped out there!
How 'bout something from Upgrade? I thought it was particularly fun how Marshall-Green had Grey reacting to the way Stem controls his body while also protecting his head.
Great shout! Love that film...have covered a scene from that film in an earlier video - may break it down further soon!
Good shoutout, let's see Upgrade reaction,
The infamous "cripple fight" from South Park is based on that fight from They Live.
What a show! What a fight! What a movie!
@@MarcusFlemmings What do you think of the fight between Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi in the movie "Crouching tiger, hidden dragon" (2000)?

i guess i'm getting my ass kicked then!

I love one-shot fight scenes. Kingsman, Carter, One Shot / One More Shot are awesome!

I came here to hear Old Boy get praised and I was not disappointed.
MY FIGHT MADE IT ON THE LIST!!! Hell yeah... amazing video Marcus!
Hahahahaa! My pleasure!
That sad moment when self proclaimed film expert havent heard of Hard Boiled. One take, no montage, film. All done in HonKong basement.
Not only have I heard of it, I've also seen it. However, watch the film and that scene again -- and tell me how they filmed it....
