Sticking the lyrics here just because is kind of clueless and dumb. The whole point is to have an instrumental version without the lyrics present - including the comments.
reading this part gave me chills.... "The band chose this song as their concert opener for their 2002 Vapor Trails tour, something they had never done before. After all the trauma and tough times endured by the personal loses of Neil Peart (wife and daughter dying within a year of each other) and the possibility of the band being done for, they believed "Tom Sawyer" would send the message that they were back to stay. They usually introduced the song with a 1 to 4 count, but for Vapor Trails, there was no count, at least not in the usual sense. Peart gave the signal: he simply closed his Hi Hat cymbal pedal with his foot, and this gave the band the signal to silently count the start of the song. This can be seen in the Rush In Rio DVD - before the concert starts you hear a muted cymbal sound that starts the count."
And then after intermission... it was One Little Victory to open the second set. The perfect song to compliment Tom Sawyer by saying, "HE'S BACK!!! and WE'RE back... and until the end, whatever the end might be..." Little did we know, nor could have predicted to be back in 2002...
Rush songs are SO awesome it's almost "too much" for one song. Awesome lyrics. Awesome singing. Awesome instrumentals. You almost can't appreciate it all at the same time. That's why I love the instrumental versions so much.
I also like the zinger about the music industry in The Spirit of Radio -- "But glittering prizes and endless compromises shatter the illusion of integrity."
That's the thing about Rush I love all their 20+ albums and I might get tired but I never get sick of their music. Tom Sawyer. I've listened to that since it came out in 1981 and I still listen to it! Love it!
So I’ll start with I love Geddy as a vocalist. Completely unique and instantly identifiable,, but I wish I had every single Rush track, all 175, in instrumental version as well!!! I can dream!
Your instrumentals seam to be the best on the net for RUSH, any chance of doing "Limelight" and "Vital Signs" to complete the Moving Pictures album? "Freewill" & "The Spirit of Radio" to complete the catchiest of that era.. ??
I know many people like Geddy's voice, I don't. I always wonder if Rush would have been better with a different vocalist. Thank you for the instrumental version of this song. I do believe Geddy is one of the best bass guitar players. Perhaps they didn't want to employ another person to sing?
When I first heard Rush a few months ago thanks to my dad, I thought he was awful and wouldn't listen to it. But I got used to his voice surprisingly quickly and now I can't imagine Rush with someone else :P
Dear NickOXIDmusic! Thank you for your wonderful work with these songs, and most of all the Dream Theater tracks! Nobody on the entire internet have managed your level of expertise and performance! You have been a tremendous blessing to me, dear sir! Thank you! Still, at the risk of annoying you with more questions, do you think you will one day complete the remaining Dream Theater discography as instrumental-only versions? I would sure love to hear it, most of all the Six Degrees album from 2002 🙂👍🙌

OMG, imagine somebody like Bruce Dickinson singing the lyrics?!! A powerful masculine voice, not sounding like wicked witch of the west. It would breathe a new dimension of badassery to this classic!
its not theirs. it was a song from rush in the 80s. yes you can use an instrumental from a band in the 80s for background music for a video. just credit rush in the vid
For me, it's the fauxlosophical lyrics that annoy me more than the style of singing itself. How do you read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and come away with "a modern day warrior"??
This will be unpopular, but I've never liked Geddy Lee's voice, like at all. Very grating. But they are otherwise a fantastic band, so the instrumentals are great for me.
A modern day warrior
Mean, mean stride
Today's Tom Sawyer
Mean, mean pride
Though his mind is not for rent
Don't put him down as arrogant
He reserves the quiet defense
Riding out the day's events
The river
What you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the mist, catch the myth
Catch the mystery, catch the drift
The world is, the world is
Love and life are deep
Maybe as his skies are wide
Today's Tom Sawyer
He gets by on you
And the space he invades
He gets by on you
No, his mind is not for rent
To any God or government
Always hopeful yet discontent
He knows changes aren't permanent
But change is
What you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the witness, catch the wit
Catch the spirit, catch the spit
The world is, the world is
Love and life are deep
Maybe as his eyes are wide
Exit the warrior
Today's Tom Sawyer
He gets by on you
And the energy you trade
He gets right on to the friction of the day
A modern day warrior
His name is Tom Sawyer
He floated down the river on a raft with a black guy

Imagine what it was like being a long time Rush finally getting to see them live on that tour and this as the opener. A wonderful experience.
Songs without vocals take a different meaning, a new kind of awesomeness
I think the best part of Tom Sawyer is the synth chord held in the very beginning lol
