I found info on your ginger ale. I was curious about it. Anyways it said “The name “Wilkinson” might have you think that it is a non-Japanese brand, but it is, in fact, thoroughly Japanese. It pays homage to a British man called John Clifford Wilkinson who discovered a carbonated mineral spring in the mountains of Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture during hunting. Since then "Wilkinson" is a brand with more than 100 years of tradition and trust since 1904.”

Asahi currently owns Wilkinson Ginger Ale. Lots of breweries also make carbonated beverages.

Good to know! I have found similar kinds but usually they’re only sold in Trinidadi or Jamaican-style shops unless I drive like an hour out of the way to a specific natural foods store.

This video brought back fond memories of the days I spent walking on my own around Portland, Oregon - finding random stuff down random streets, finding myself in places where walking isn't so easy, spending a long time traveling to a place that's no longer open, feeling that buses have a greater chance of getting me lost than things on rails, etc. Thanks!

That's how my time in Seattle, WA was. I found so many little spots that were neighborhood favorites, but not necessarily on the main bus lines. But yeah, sometimes I walked for an hour only to have to turn around and go somewhere else, ha!

7:58 - What I was told is that in japanese, "kitte" means stamp, and is often used to refer to the post office? The use of the cats for delivery is a play on the word "kitte" - because they know it also sounds like "kitty". :)

That memorial is... Humbling. I think recasting past errors in a light of humility signifies growth. If they just knock it over and pretend it never happened, there's no physical representation of the error and in a few generations things like that can get lost.
At the same time, what an awful thing to preserve. But in a way, most of us carry awful things like that with us. Things we've done or things done to us. And as any good therapist will tell you... Stuffing them down and pretending they don't exist, doesn't work.
It gets in deep. Thanks for sharing that. This made it a way more thought provoking video experience with my morning coffee than expected.

Walking down the street was super interesting to me. I'm in Canada and you'd never find businesses and residential flip flopping like that here unless it was a home business but it's not common. Id have so much fun walking down streets there because the different buildings and little businesses are super interesting, so much variety. The closest thing we have like that here (in my city at least) is the very old neighborhoods sometimes have very different style of houses. Please do another segment like that in another video sometime!

A failed quest can sometimes turn into a great or interesting adventure, i am not saying that happened here but i have had plenty of times when i have went out for something but it turned into a whole other quest and even became a little adventure with some interesting surprises.
Visiting Nintendos old headquarter, i would be in on that, my brother actually have some of those old Nintendo Hanafuda cards and also some of the old toys they used to make, old Nintendo fans here man :)
The cucumber looks worth a try and i do like some weird bizarre art and creations in random places :)
I like the shrine and the colors, get a good feeling from it. That light up park section was very nice, coudl spend some time alone in the dark at that place, but the dark water looks inviting, would it be weird or not so good if i went for a dip?
If only the world would open up again and this madness would end, but i think it is gonna take some years before everything returns to some sort of "normal".
Get well Kyde! hope you feel better soon so you can be out and about togheter again on some adventures and exploring!

About the thing where things never work out because you put in so much effort, like thats just what always happens. I just realized the exact same thing happened to me in singapore. i did a 2 hr hike in the heat and had planned on going to a specific hawker center for a specific dish afterwards as a treat. thing is the hawker center was in the burbs and also the specific stall was like...at one point pretty popular but then closed down and then I found an article that said the owners were rumored to have opened up again somewhere else. and because the new location was in the burbs, i needed to walk another hour after the hike + take a 30min bus ride to get there. anyway i make it there and of course the specific hawker stall i was looking for either wasn't there, changed their name, or no longer sold the specific dish i wanted to try. 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂still ended up with a good meal though bc its hard to find a bad meal in singapore. but its just another piece of evidence for your little theory lol

Great video, in all your years eating in Japan, what are the vegetarian or vegan options like? Are there many at all?

it's tricky but not impossible to find vegetarian stuff. vegan is harder, maybe borderline impossible outside of major cities. -E

“And those people are WRONG” lol Yes, they are. I wonder if they sell that peanut butter, they should consider it. I’m envious.
No wonder it had old dudes: firstly- they don’t cook their own breakfast, second- they can smoke, AND third- it’s QUIET ♥️
I tend to like places where old dudes congregate. And I try not to annoy them.
I think you and Katie might be “Spring” or “Summer” complexions...she looked very good in that lime top in another video. And I think she’d look good in a bright yellow too. You look good in the red hat that you wear sometimes. Black isn’t bad on you, but white washes you two out. Where my Mom looks extra good in WHITE or BLACK. I don’t look good in them either. I mean, you prob don’t care, but watching all these vids in a row, I couldn’t help but notice. 😅
In a world OBSESSED with “Green” (*cough* technology *cough*) as a pedestrian, it frustrates me how little walking places exist properly and how often one is judged or made to feel freakish for NOT using a car. 😠 So, I’m sorry that didn’t work out for Eric-san, but I respect his efforts!

Kyoto without tourist is like dream come true!
Well at least the burger at Smile Burger put a smile on your face so they delivered on their promise.
And that “Womanizer” is a toy for the female use, so in Japanese Engrish it makes sense maybe!

That's pretty incredible that you stumbled upon 耳塚. It is said that Japanese soldiers cut off the noses and ears of Korean civilians as well, as proof of a kill which could bestow prestige to officers and even financial reward at times. What I don't understand is, why doesn't Japan repatriate the body parts back to Korea? My guess is that Japan fears such a move could stoke more anti-Japanese feelings. Sad, all around.
