Great video. Been using Pica pencils myself for a while now after seeing TH-cam sparks using them. You can also get a scribe from Saker / Tracer amongst others so you can follow contours and draw arcs etc.
I have a staedler mars 2mm pencil and love it, I don't have a pica one yet and my biggest beef would be the size where you hold it. It looks so thin. Do you get used to it? I wish the bottom was beefier.
they are great , i have the red and black marker and the pencil , bought separately, the only problem is the refill pencils are impossible to get here in the netherlands , all (web)shops are on back order , so before investing in these , check reffil availability and if possible buy the refill at the same time!

Webster’s definition: pi·ca | \ ˈpī-kə \ Definition of pica (Entry 1 of 2) : an abnormal desire to eat substances (such as chalk or ashes) not normally eaten pica noun (2) Definition of pica (Entry 2 of 2) 1 : 12-point type 2 : a unit of about ¹/₆ inch used in measuring typographic material 3 : a typewriter type providing 10 characters to the linear inch and six lines to the vertical inch I‘be used this form of measurement in graphic design and type settings as well as when I took typing back in middle school where there was two type sizes, pica and elite. You’re not the first person I have heard pronounce the “I” as a long e sound. Of course the best form of precision marking is to use a marking knife or scribe followed by a fine wax based colored pencil to highlight the knife/scribe on darker wood.
Sorry, but a warning here. These are not very well suited for fine woodworking unless you like sharpening at annoyingly often sequences.. A round tip blunts really fast. A standard carpenters pencil (the flat ones) are much better at holding its edge. Use a knife and sharpen it with a wide sharp edge - and you’ll have that edge for much much longer. Staedtler is a very good brand with carpenters pencils. However, a carpenters flat pencil is useless for small and/or round holes. A cheap BIC mechanical pencil takes good care of most other cases. These Pica/Hultafors pencils are only good for deep narrow holes - so yes an addition to your pencil tool set, but no main use.
I have been quite lately, just getting over Covid again!! had it bad enough this time so I'm a few weeks behind. I'll have some project videos soon!

Hi John do the pencils fit 1mm holes? I have some rulers with pre-made holes that I need to use mechanical pencils and they always break.
