I think you might have mixed up something. "Crossroads" doesn't play during the Stag sections. It's the theme of the first major area, the Forgotten Crossroads, and the more exciting part is the battle theme for the few times you're locked into enemy gauntlets in that area. The stagways have their own theme.
I adore leitmotifs in video games because it's like the composer is giving you a puzzle: Why should this moment remind you of that other moment? The answer might not be explicit in the game itself. For example, the Broken Vessel music having a 'cropped' version of the Hollow Knight motif.
The "surprise flute" as you call it, in Greenpath, to me it always represented the more whimsical creatures in the area. The little birds and maybe the flying enemies buzzing about. I think it also fits the part where you are kind of chasing behind Hornet, trying to figure out what her deal is.
31:45 if I remember correctly the over-delayed flute melody is actually used while you are entering Fog Canyon from Greenpath, it slowly fades away, you are left with the coziness but also the danger of the Canyon. I might be mis-remembering here but that is how it made its place in my mind. Great analysis!
17:12 Another reason the "Hollow Knight" motif could be used in this battle is because the False Knight is _literally_ a hollow knight. It's a hollow suit of armor, being piloted by a maggot. Therefore, it's a hollow knight.
A wonderful and insightful reaction/commentary by a wonderful musician. Hollow's Knight soundtrack has a certain magical feel and sense of wonderment to it. I didn't pick up on the flute being used with delay at the end of the Greenpath track before! To me it sort of gives a bit of hope between the deadly pits of acids and the creatures roaming about. Definitely one of my favorite tracks in the whole album. 10/10 video
I love your interpretation of the little flairs in Dirtmouth being bits of "chaos", and it even adds to the central theme of take it slow. The song takes those interruptions in stride, letting them flow throughout it without breaking the peace. It's slow but accepting too, malleable and open to change.
Your channel is so underrated. I love your remixes (specially the deltarune ones) and the fact that you care about the games that you make your videos.
I've listened to your CastleVania medley and I'm out of words right now. The medley was brilliant, Every track had it's share of instrument choice's and you've nailed that CV medley. You my kind sir earned not only my respect but now a loyal subscriber, Keep up the great work. Please do consider covering the Dracula's Theme track from Super CastleVania IV. One of my all time favorite CastleVania game's.
Always amazing videos with great analysis and playing, SPG! The Hollow Knight OST sounds so magical. The word whimsical comes to mind. Beautiful game with amazing music!
Fun fact, pretty much every track is connected through leitmotif, the only ones not connected as far as i know are Truth Beauty and Hatred (small chance has the hollow knight motif), Nosk, The Hive (small chance it is connected to either Kingdom's Edge or Hive Knight), the distant village trap theme (it is possible the song is connected to nosk), and the shade theme. Npc songs do not have connections outside of Brumm if btw.
This game has such an amazing soundtrack! I’d love to hear your thoughts on every freaking song in this soundtrack, especially the song called Hollow Knight 👁👁

True. Music still amazing though.

27:10 its an interesting point, to me, those little staccated notes were representing the little living-bushes who only walk and never attack you
he needs to listen to pale court its music thats not used in the game but is an absolute masterpiece

I love to see you listen to Sealed Vessel, there's a lot of strings and it's one of the most tragic sounding (in a good way) songs I've heard.

Welp... Looks like I'm going to give this game another chance.
Totally worth it! The difficulty might not be for everyone but the music is definitely timeless now.

I beg of you to listen to sealed vessels
I haven't played Hollow Knight (prefer games where I have a chance of winning tbh) but the music is great.
But you do have a chance of winning it's all skill.
You have vastly overestimated my skill level.
i'm scared that silksong is not gonna be as good as hollow knight :c
it's weird hearing u talk!!!! also very cool
