Super helpful dearest brother. Honestly, it's gotten to the point where so much of what we have access to keeps collecting dust and we have no idea what to do with any of it. Teaching is key. For this, you are my hero. (and other reasons too) xo

I purchased Step By Step Mixing: How to Create Great Mixes Using Only 5 Plug-ins four years ago. Great reference book!

This was the first EQ plugin I used that actually genuinely helped with the process and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to do a while back. I'm primarily in Pro-Q 3 now but Audio Issues EQ still has a special place in my heart and will always be installed. The "vocabulary" section is really helpful too since when I'm thinking in numbers or ranges I'm not always thinking in terms of how to explain it but rather "this sounds different when it's boosted or attenuated".
Fantastic video, Chris, and Björgvin is indeed awesome!

The idea to pair plugins with education is a smart one!
In this regard it would also be helpful to see the settings of the lower potis reflected in the curve above.
The most important factor as a beginner however is learning to hear. In this respect it would be super helpful, if a plugin like this would ship with examples for me to try and later reveal how a professional would solve the issue (there is always taste and context involved but the examples could be obvious - or even better - go from more to less obvious).

What is the difference between Audio Issues Plugin vs. EQ Wise? They both offer learning vocabulary. Which is better?

This does the same thing My Sonnox Claro EQ does even extra, still a interesting plugin tho because of those additive knobs. Good video.

Respect Sir. I have a quick question ❓ I mixed my vocals base on the sweet spot -18dbs or 0dbvu. However, the vocals are way louder than the beat I exported from FL which careful use FL meters to available distortion and clippings. How can I balance and blend both sounds together without loosing any quality. Thanking you in advance

Import the beat track and vocals track into your DAW. Since the beat is not distorted or clipping, keep the fader at approx -3db or -4db. Lower the vocal track fader all the way, then slowly raise it until you're happy with the balance. At that point you can eq, compress and/or limit to taste.

@@mixdownonlineare the descriptions like thump and power etc placed directly below their corresponding frequencies meaning that those are the frequencies being affected by boosting or cutting or do they leave those frequencies a mystery

I like the educational value of this plugin, but find it somewhat surprising and a pity that this is not extended to the lower part of the EQ. Although terms (thump, bite, ... air) are shown here, one cannot see how they affect the frequency response, and although it is mainly about "sound", the visual aspect (as a visual aid) can no longer be ignored in today's mixing. It would therefore be even more educational if one could also find out at which frequencies these terms perform their work. It would therefore increase the ease of use and the educational value if one could use the pre and/or post analyzer for that part (together with or with the option to switch).
