@-raecat- Ah, I see! I'm the complete opposite haha! I do like the school setting, but I LOVE the missions and events that happen outside of school and the stakes they come with. I can definitely see why the later arcs aren't as appealing to you if you like the school-action balance

I'm back on my Saiki K kick and was so unprepared for it to be mentioned XD I have to agree on the female characters getting shafted a lot- Teruhashi gets some character development at least? but yeah Aiura is one of my favorite characters I always think about how I want more with her (maybe her recognizing that soulmates can be platonic and her and Saiki bonding more over other topics)
Also I am now so tempted to do this myself if I could manage to keep the motivation- maybe as a little side project just doing head shot portraits or something since there are so many characters I've been wanting to do fanart of- I loved all of them but the Ib piece is just incredible!

GAKU! It’s actually embarrassing how I screamed when he popped up. You can’t just include a scene of him gazing intensely while leaning forward with his hand supporting his head without a warning! IDOLiSH7 is so underrated though. I’ve been going through a really bad obsession with it recently to the point where I can’t go a day without thinking about TRIGGER in particular
To be fair, nobody but kusuo has any depth in the show. It's just a comedy anime with a little bit of slice of life and sci-fi. • Kokomi is just the "perfect girl". • Kaidou is obsessed with having super powers. • Mera is poor and always working / starving. • Aren is a delinquent. Hairo is hard working. • Reita is a pervert psychic. • Aiura is another female psychic. • Chiyo is kokomi's opposite "imperfect/normal" girl. • Nendō is just nendō. They all have barely any character development, if any at all.
yeaaah, I get that, but all the boys had an added thing that made them different to the cliche where as the girls were just straight up the cliche. Like Kaidou acted like he had powers but lacked the confidence those type of characters have and cowered a lot Aren is a delinquent but he's trying his best to be a better person and to be kind but is struggling even Nendo was the head empty scary guy but was a sweetheart with a tagic backstory. (I could keep going with almost all the main male charas) all the guys had something to juxtapose the cliche that made them interesting and funny but the only girl that got that same treatment was Kokomi (I actually do really like her haha) with her being the typical perfect girl but she knows it and is a bit manipulative about it. I know there wouldn't be a whole lot of character develpment in this kinda show, that's fine, I guess what I meant by depth is that they had more to them than the surface level cliche. I hope that makes sense lol

I watch these kinds of vidoes all the time as just like random entertainment. And its always interesting to see people's favorite characters. But I often don’t know most of the characters because these vidoes are always very anime heavy (which is not really my thing) so I never expect to see my own favorites get drawn. HOLY SHIT DID I FUCKING LOSE IT WHEN I SAW MERLIN!! MERLIN?! MERLIN!! IN 2024?! FUCKING BLESSED!! This just made my whole day. I love him so much. Also this whole lineup aligns so much more with my own favorites than I expected lol. Such good art, such good tastes.

But I think more than anything it’s supposed to be a parody of anime tropes like even if it’s not as obvious they all have one like Kaido is a chuunibyou, toritsuka’s a pervert, chiyo’s the average one and hairdo’s the strong one. I get where you're coming from but sexualities are so rarely explicitly stated in media and he has flat out said 'romantic feelings elude me' and that he doesn't relate to the other kids when they talk about crushes and stuff and is actively offput by advances made on him, so idk how much more implied it could be lol. I don't think it would confuse anyone when they watch the show, I think most people would agree he's ace. (but tbf I haven't read the manga and I'm not active in the fandom, this is just my two cents haha) I agree poeple can have head canons but I do think ace people deserve all the rep we can latch on to XD and thank you so much!! I'm back on my Saiki K kick and was so unprepared for it to be mentioned XD I have to agree on the female characters getting shafted a lot- Teruhashi gets some character development at least? but yeah Aiura is one of my favorite characters I always think about how I want more with her (maybe her recognizing that soulmates can be platonic and her and Saiki bonding more over other topics)

GAKU! It’s actually embarrassing how I screamed when he popped up. You can’t just include a scene of him gazing intensely while leaning forward with his hand supporting his head without a warning! IDOLiSH7 is so underrated though. I’ve been going through a really bad obsession with it recently to the point where I can’t go a day without thinking about TRIGGER in particular

To be fair, nobody but kusuo has any depth in the show. It's just a comedy anime with a little bit of slice of life and sci-fi.
• Kokomi is just the "perfect girl".
• Kaidou is obsessed with having super powers.
• Mera is poor and always working / starving.
• Aren is a delinquent.
Hairo is hard working.
• Reita is a pervert psychic.
• Aiura is another female psychic.
• Chiyo is kokomi's opposite "imperfect/normal" girl.
• Nendō is just nendō.
They all have barely any character development, if any at all.
yeaaah, I get that, but all the boys had an added thing that made them different to the cliche where as the girls were just straight up the cliche.
Like Kaidou acted like he had powers but lacked the confidence those type of characters have and cowered a lot
Aren is a delinquent but he's trying his best to be a better person and to be kind but is struggling
even Nendo was the head empty scary guy but was a sweetheart with a tagic backstory. (I could keep going with almost all the main male charas)
all the guys had something to juxtapose the cliche that made them interesting and funny but the only girl that got that same treatment was Kokomi (I actually do really like her haha) with her being the typical perfect girl but she knows it and is a bit manipulative about it.
I know there wouldn't be a whole lot of character develpment in this kinda show, that's fine, I guess what I meant by depth is that they had more to them than the surface level cliche. I hope that makes sense lol

But I often don’t know most of the characters because these vidoes are always very anime heavy (which is not really my thing) so I never expect to see my own favorites get drawn. HOLY SHIT DID I FUCKING LOSE IT WHEN I SAW MERLIN!! MERLIN?! MERLIN!! IN 2024?! FUCKING BLESSED!! This just made my whole day. I love him so much.

But I think more than anything it’s supposed to be a parody of anime tropes like even if it’s not as obvious they all have one like Kaido is a chuunibyou, toritsuka’s a pervert, chiyo’s the average one and hairdo’s the strong one. Also fmab!!! I’m glad people still watch it 😭😭😭
that's fair! I do think all the boys have more to them than the just the tropes and the girls are pretty much just straight up the trope (although I still really liked teruhashi lol) and yesss, I've loved fmab since I was 12 it's so good!! :D

I get where you're coming from but sexualities are so rarely explicitly stated in media and he has flat out said 'romantic feelings elude me' and that he doesn't relate to the other kids when they talk about crushes and stuff and is actively offput by advances made on him, so idk how much more implied it could be lol. I don't think it would confuse anyone when they watch the show, I think most people would agree he's ace. (but tbf I haven't read the manga and I'm not active in the fandom, this is just my two cents haha) I agree poeple can have head canons but I do think ace people deserve all the rep we can latch on to XD

Honestly I found Merlin (the show) to be kind of goofy and dumb, but it didn’t take itself too seriously and it was very fun for awhile :) and it’s nice to see art of him!
