Thank you, as the only oboist in my highschool, it seems no one can agree on the fingerings for these notes. These work consistantly for me, and I will practice them first thing tomorrow.

It’s not that no one can agree. It is what comes before the notes you need, and what is the note afterwards, what that phrase demands. That’s what determines which alternate fingering you may need depending on the speed. The fundamental fingerings are for tone and melodic cohesion.

I understand how you feel about being the only oboist in your high school because I am also the only oboist in my high school. High C# confused me and so did high D# but this video helped :)

In the UK, the standard fingering for the high Eb is fingered like the high D, but instead of adding the left-hand B, we add the G# on the left hand.

I think the high F is the most important note, especially since that is what you need to finish the Mozart oboe Quartet in F. :-)
It’s all in the reed, baby!

This helped me so much. Though my reed is screaming in pain at high e and f, it helped so much. NGL-i am really in your debt

I’m a 7th grade student having to play up to a high e flat for a solo because they only had flute parts

      How is everything going now?
I'm a freshman starting oboe (played tenor sax since grade 6, and flute in grade 4)

All these fingerings are different from and simpler than what I have been taught. Would my oboe being a thumbplate be the difference?

as an oboe player in 8th grade, i dont know if this is right but it works fine for me, if you're on d sharp then all i do is switch my finger on the 4th key to the 5th key and then d comes out. dont know if that made sense but yeah lmao

Have you found a fingering that works for you? If not, here's mine: 3rd octave key, 1st octave key, RH1 and 2, LH 1 and 2. It's the best high note on my instrument.

@@spvcko Haha any time. It's surprising how many people are just never taught beyond High C, and if they are, it's always with dodgy fingerings that don't work half the time (or all the time)

    How do you do G#???

      Joshua Swan ... get:
      The Art Of Oboe Playing!!!
It has ALL the fundamental fingerings up to Ab/G#.
I’ve been playing oboe since 1965. There are other fingering charts for the oboe as well. I still play professionally. It is a very valuable tool if you are a serious oboist. Just take my word for it. :-) I started playing professionally in the United States Air Force Academy band when I was 19. Learn all of the alternate fingerings and ALL of the trills.
Have fun, and read and learn all you can.
      Vade-Mecum Of The Oboist
      For studies and orchestral excerpts!
Practice 30 to 120 minutes a day, when you are young. Take a day off once in a while.
BTW ... The higher register needs a well-balanced finished reed. If it plays the highest register well, it will play all the notes well, if you know how to finish the reed for performance. Good luck!

@@nomorebushz Thanks. But how do you play above G, as fingering charts do not seem to help.

@@ibariban Have a very strong embouchure and blow fast air and if needed, you can but your teeth on the reed to facilitate the high notes.
