It's the summer of 66 and the end of another world tour. They have had the Philippines incident to deal with, followed by The Beatles bigger than Jesus. Beatlemania is a thing of the past, the journalists have run out of questions and The Beatles have run out of patience. The fluffy playful Beatles, don't appear in this interview. This is one of the oddest Beatles interviews you'll ever hear.
The Beatles' flight from Cincinnati to New York arrived at 3.50am on this morning. They were taken to the Warwick Hotel, where during the day they gave the first of two press conferences. This is the first.

I've seen film clips of a press conference after this one which was open to a fan club and junior reporters, I think. Lots of energy in that one. Really interesting. Thanks.

Sounds like the audio is slowed down. Their voices are lower than usual.

I would be nice -- IF those annoying logos AND Next-up tags didn't show up on screen -- until AFTER the video blacked/faded out. Hard to enjoy hearing/watching a classic/vintage interview, etc., with things popping up all over the screen. 😐

Ah, vindication! Paul calls Americans unscrupulous bigots!!😘
I know I'm conflating two separate comments and taking them out of context, but people never believe me when I say that Paul used to make very subtle anti-American comments in his interviews. John would criticize American policies or whatnot, but Paul would criticise America itself. I love how when Paul makes these tiny digs at Americans, he always says that they know it's true, so he implicates the listener and allows them to feel like they're the exception, so they won't get offended. Later he says that The Beatles make these comments [John's more popular than Jesus comment specifically here] to be "helpful", not to offend anyone or be "destructive in any way."
Plus, for comparison, people should check out PAUL's interview with Maureen Cleave and see what he calls America in THAT interview. He even uses the n-word. It's amazing that John's comment was the one became so controversial. I guess there's a reason it goes God and country, with God placed first.
