    Just a comment, the gasket O-ring is made of rubber and rubber will be turned into hard due to heat and eventually it will leak. So it’s good practice to replace with the new o-ring. Also, it’s included in the gasket kit.

      The auto parts dealers have a hard time figuring out which type of trans filter you need. There are two types. To be sure, take your old filter in to them so they can match up the proper trans filter.

    Hello again. I have 98,400 miles on my 2008 Colorado. I am not sure if the transmission fluid has ever been changed. So many people say changing the transmission fluid after 100,000 miles if it has never been changed will actually cause the transmission to fail. It is possible the fluid has been changed prior. I simply do not know. Could you please give me insight? Thank you.

      @@cantletherdiediy1050 correct! No dip stick. No drain plug. The manual says just to check the fluid by opening the fill plug, and fill to the bottom of the fill plug hole. I can't believe the oil is still good after 16 years.

      @@shanson51 OK, I wish I had a manual transmission GMC Canyon. I'd do a video for you. However, I have two transmission videos... the Chevy Colorado (with dipstick) and the F150 transmission (without dipstick). The most important part of your job is to make sure the fill plug is not seized. Can you loosen it? If not, you better not take any further action. If you can, you can proceed exactly like my Colorado Trans video until you need to replace the trans fluid. Then switch to my F150 trans Fluid video and fill it until it starts coming out the fill plug. You will have to use the proper transmission oil though. Do not use automatic transmission fluid. I'd call the dealership and use what they recommend.
      I wish I could be of more help to you. If I ever get my hands on a manual, I'll shoot that video for you. You Got this Scott! You are better than you think!

    • @cantletherdiediy1050
      @cantletherdiediy1050  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Joel, I had a similar problem of failure to go into 4x4 resulting in a blinking 4x4 light. This occurred a long time ago before I was handling my own repairs making my videos. It turned out to be the 4x4 vacuum switch. I had that switch replaced and I was good to go. I put my money on that bet but it is only a best guess based on experience. Is that the motor to which you are referring to? Perhaps you have already replace that. The vacuum switch appears to be the weak link in the 4X4 engagement system. There is a post on 355 Nation where they discuss the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) and blinking 4X4 lights. If I replaced the TCCM and motor and it is still not functioning properly, and I ruled out the vacuum switch. I would assume (or hoped) that I have missed something simple.
      Have you checked the vacuum lines used by that vacuum switch? Have you unplugged and then re-plugged in the TCCM as a sort of reboot? or perhaps the software needs to be reprogrammed by GM? This is required sometimes for other control modules. (ask GM about that) Is the wiring harness in good shape? Is the plug corroded in any way?
      Those are only guesses Joel based on the limited amount of info you have provided. In my situation, I had the vacuum switch replaced and that solved my issue. I hope I was able to help provide you with some possible next steps. Keep chasing down the problem and report back when you have her fixed. Don't give up...You Got This!
