She laughed and said “Oh my God you’re so superstitious you think it’s gonna affect the game? You and your crazy mojo. I’ll do it, but I think you’re crazy.” She hung it up, and a minute later, the Leafs scored the three goals back to back. THE MOJO IS REAL!
I was wondering why this games LFR was 20 minutes, and then the ending happened, and it was time to cry! Thanks for everything, Steve. As an islanders fan from long island I couldn't see myself getting hooked on these videos, but it's been 2 years of watching these and im about to graduate college so I couldn't be more thankful for these videos and the podcasts.

The Sabres while bad for a historic amount of time are more profitable than they have ever been. If the NHL moves them Bettman must be fired immediately and the team returned to Buffalo. The team doesn't need to be moved. Fire the entire management team and start from scratch.

Watching Steve freak out about when Toronto is down and then celebrate when they come back… it feels good. He’s spent too long crying and being disappointed with Toronto blowing leads (2013, 2018, 2024 and that’s just in the playoffs to one team) and he deserves to have a little happiness in his hockey life.

My first, and only, Leafs game was the game with Waffle guy. It was amazing to see him throw those waffles from out of his pocket then pull the empty box out from his pants.
Steve, you mentioned wondering about how many shots the Leafs miss, so I figured I would nerd it up. The Leafs have their shots blocked at the 5th lowest rate (27.17%), they miss their unblocked shots at the 15th lowest rate (32.10%), and overall they are 10th in the league in terms of how many shot attempts (including those that are blocked) actually end up on net, at 49.45%. Either we have to go a bit deeper to figure out if there are certain types of shots they miss more than average, or this is just confirmation bias. All stats are from Natural Stattrick.

Cut Dylan Cozens some slack as he was manhandled by the Caps on Saturday night. In case you missed it, 3 Sabres went after Marty Fehervary near their own net, one of the Sabres left leaving Ryan Johnson trying to hold Fehervary in a full nelson and Dylan Cozens facing Fehervary and cross checking him. Marty says, "you wanna go?" Dylan says, "yes." Johnson loses grip on Marty and Marty takes Cozens to the ice, manages to get up, and Marty takes him down again.
Here's probably why I'm a fan and not a coach, but I'd consider scratching Robertson for Dallas with the intent of playing him against Buffalo, win or lose. Guy seems to respond best when coming back from being scratched. I'd see if I can harness that, at least in the short term. Not like the team's looking good overall right now. If you can spark this guy, that could be what you need.

We need to cline Bobby McMann. He works with M&M. He works with Tavares and Nylander. He works with Domi and Richardson. He seems to have chemistry with everyone and works on every line.

It's weird seeing Buffalo be this bad for this long, and yet not seeing hardly anyone question the ownership. Pegula bought the sabres literally the year before their playoff drought started. And when you factor in the number of different coaches, GMs, players, and countless support staff that have all been consistently recycled, the only real constant is ownership. It makes especially more sense when you consider that the teams president for nearly a decade was also the owners wife.

Since the introduction of the Salary cap (if this continues), the Sabres will have made the playoffs a total of 4/19 seasons in the salary cap era… with the drought streak continuing to 14 straight. The Sabres fan in me hopes I’m wrong, but idk man
