    That is one heck of of a vice stop. I think that would stop a Renault Dauphine at top speed. Great job on the installation. That 90degree head is a great tool

    Great video, Mr Pete. I've used a right angle attachment in a CNC before. We even had it set up so it could tool change. Having abilities like that can give you an edge over your competition. Please don't take this as criticism because it's not meant to be. I just wanted to inform your viewers that if you write on an andodized surface with a Sharpie, you probably won't be able to get it off. It soaks in. I'm sure it doesn't matter for what you're doing but I've had to scrap and re-make parts before because of it.

    Yet again, another fine looking shirt you're wearing. Makes me think you make all these videos after church on Sunday. It's way beyond the typical youtube shop standards. Great video, as usual.

      Mr Pete is the best! May Jesus continue to bless him with gifts that ONLY come from Heaven.
      For he is a cut (from) above! He does not bore you with theory and deep detail. He simply simplifies it so any layman AND experienced machinists can understand it.
      IE: He SHOWS it more than "talks" it; which sadly, is one of the problems on all too many DIY videos.
      GAR-OWN-TEED!

    Mr. Pete,
    As always great video, nice stop!
    And guess what, my first car was also a Dauphine ( 1959 ). I just thought it was funny!
    What I liked the most was it came with a crank, you did not have to use it, but sometimes I would
    start it with the crank for fun. GOOD TIMES!!!

    Nicely done Mr. Pete. I think if I had designed that vice stop I would have put the grub screw that secures the slide on the top so not to wrestle trying to put an Allen wrench into the bottom of a bracket I could not see. Even if they had to make the slide a bit wider on the top to accommodate the screw and avoid the rod hole.

    Nice vice, a good set of parallel's and that stop on that awesome casting . Having a stop of some sort (or a combination square set to the fixed jaw) if your making more than one . the stop takes less effort to be repeatable I like that.

    After seeing the Edge Technology stuff featured on so many TH-cam channels and watching the Edge videos, I purchased a table mounted vise stop from them directly. I am happy with the product and thought it was too inexpensive for what it is until I found and became very disappointed that it was made in China... sad, I'd pay more for one edge actually made here in our country.

    Another way of doing that would have been to hang the vise off the edge of the table and swing the head around. As for the bolt size you could make a nice bushing with a shoulder if you didnt have the room or tap for those large bolts.

    Dunno why they used those monster socket head cap screws back there, the aluminum bracket will surely deflect anyway before those babies shear off, a couple of 5/16" would give all that's necessary given the simple function of the stop- anyway, free is free so...

    • @chrisc4088
      @chrisc4088 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      BeachsideHank They use those big shcs because they are sized to fit the holes on a Kurt vise

    • @BeachsideHank
      @BeachsideHank 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris C
      Makes sense then, the Kurt can be jigged up for more flexible operations than the old design of the Bridgie.

      You are very correct

  • @franksalterego
    @franksalterego 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I suppose I'd be wasting my breath, pointing out that good machinists' practice when tapping screw threads, you always 45° chamfer the hole to about 1/64th larger than the major diameter of the thread, so you don''t kick up a burr that might interfere with the mating part... It also lets the tap "ease in," reducing the chance of breaking the tap... In precision parts, it helps maintain tap alignment.
    Frank

    • @mrpete222
      @mrpete222  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I often counterbore my holes to the major diameter of the thread. This greatly helps you tap it straight
