    Greta tip on the gaps! I have a few gaps that opened up on our Pergo laminate I laid in our basement 5 years ago. Gonna give it a try. It has held up extremely well.

    Flooret Modin Ridgid LVP is the best in the industry. There is no acclamation required, e.g. you can bring in from your cold garage directly to the house and start installing! That’s partly attributed to the 70% limestone core.

    Joe Latendre “So That’s How You Do It” does use clear gorilla glue for some of these joint concerns. Seems like a very plausible use. I am trying to narrow down colors to work with kitchen cabinets now. Thanks for the one year review!

    We put Flooret Raeburn LVP in our kitchen and laundry room (California) in 2019, and have had zero scratches, stains, separations, etc. The separations must be a climate related issue? We have lots of people living in the house + 3 dogs with long toenails, who have scratched up our hardwood floors in other parts of the house, but haven't done anything to the Flooret. We have made so many messes on our floor and they still look like new. Super happy using waterproof Flooret in kitchen and bathroom. (The floor does show dirt pretty easily, as mentioned, but also so easily cleaned.)

    Glad you didn't cry haha. Idk why I'm watching this, I just love home reno stuff. It could benefit us in the future, the house we are currently looking at needs an upgrade in the bathroom so maybe this will come in handy

    I installed 2600 sf of vinyl plank and had ONE end joint that opened up three times. I only had to do a "cha-cha" on the planks to close it up but it would return again quickly (also a high traffic area.) I'm not suggesting anyone do this but what worked for me was to work some glue into the end joint before closing it. The problem never returned. Thanks for a great review.

    Thank you for doing this review video. I have a question about scratching. I know you mentioned that you did not have any problem with scratching from pets, children, etc. What about furniture? Do you have protectors under the legs of your dining chairs? Can I slide a small cabinet out to vacuum under it without it scratching? I currently have bamboo floors and we are looking a replacing with vinyl plank. My biggest concerns are separation and scratching.

    We have Bruce hard wood floors. They were only 4yrs old when we moved in and any of it near a window already had faded. Within 5 more yrs all of it needed refinished but we didn't. Now we've lived in our house for 15yrs and we want no more carpet and the wood floors need too much maintenance so I think you made the right decision. Also my wife wants wider planks and you can't beast this price. How is the sound though. I put life proof in our bathrooms. They don't have as thick of a top wear layer but they are thicker and very sound deadening. They feel solid but they are more expensive. Did you compare Home Depot's high end Life Proof to this?

    Quick question.If you happen to read this and have the time to answer.
    Did your husband use a backer rod around the perimeter of the floor?
    It is like foam/rubber strip to fill in the gaps between the wall and the vinyl.Curious if you guys did and still had/have the separation of the planks.
    Either way thanks for sharing your experience.I'm in the process of debating what to install in my own home.Rather have hardwood.But the cost is a little out of reach.
    But real people's experience is more valuable than any sales pitch.

      @FastingFoodie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, no he didn’t use that. maybe it would have helped? He left about 1/4” gap as suggested and it’s covered by our baseboards. Our separation is in a high sunlight area & we suspect the heat has a lot to do with our issue here.

    When installing, how do you avoid beveling?

  • @martylucas8557
    @martylucas8557 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The clicking and popping could be attributed to your subfloor. Possibly you needed to screw down portions of your subfloor prior to install.

      Jackie of All Things Domestic Glue will not screw up closing. But it does prevent future separation. The more you close the weaker the joint becomes. Glue is your best bet.

    Quick question..do you have any boards coming apart on the sides not the ends like you showed? We are building a new house and I’m searching flooring options. Our house we’re in now has vinyl plank that is separating on the sides, and I don’t want that happening in our new home.

    • @FastingFoodie
      @FastingFoodie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don't have that issue. Out sides are pretty close together; we haven't had any issues with gaps forming there, just the ends.

    does food get trapped in the enhanced open bevels?

  • @williamkaiser8490
    @williamkaiser8490 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also I would pull it up and replace the plank with a new plank it has a missing lock edge and maybe the installer did damaged it and didn't think it would be an issue and your left with the issue later. I have had a snap together floor for 20 years and window from floor to ceiling south sun all day long.It's a floating floor so maybe your spot near the vent is damaged when installed.Sun and cold do make a difference but not enough to separate unless it was not installed correctly.

      Yes! We did tons of research and felt like flooret was a good product for $$
      We do have exposure to sunrise and early sun. That is where we actually experience most shifting as shown in this video (in our bay window full of sun)

    I build Early American Reproduction homes, farmhouses, cape codes, vikkies etc and used to install actual pine board flooring but it’s so expensive now I was so happy to find a wide-long plank. HOWEVER, why is there a beveled edge at all? It’s a dirt groove and apparently doesn’t hold the color. A groove or crack between planks was something didn’t want! It’s an engineering flaw and very disappointing.

    • @FastingFoodie
      @FastingFoodie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My husband really liked the look of a beveled edge. BUT ALL THE DIRT LIVES THERE :(

    • @SgtZima
      @SgtZima ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a design choice, I believe, that many laminate and LVP flooring brands have adopted to make it appear more like hardwood planks. I don't think beveled edges were an option when I installed my laminate floor 20 years ago.

    I cannot recommend this company. We had their flooring professionally installed (floating) in our kids' playroom about 3 years ago - nearly 1000 square feet of product. I reached out to Flooret a couple of weeks ago because we had planks separating at the sides. Flooret's initial response was to suggest that I glue down the separating planks. When I pushed back on that, they offered to send an inspector. The inspector's report states that the gaps were caused by an installation problem because the tolerance for level on this flooring is only 12/64" difference in a 10 foot span. The inspector managed to locate FIVE instances of areas exceeding this standard (none of them by more than 4/64" or 1/16") - OVER NEARLY 1000 SQUARE FEET. So, Flooret now recommends that we "simply apply a wood filler in the gaps that is in a matching color." That's not an acceptable fix. If the flooring is moving because the interlocking installation system is defective, there's no way filler won't simply "pop out." Really disappointing and a very expensive mistake to choose Flooret. So much for a lifetime residential warranty.

    • @teresadavis9779
      @teresadavis9779 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would think that is an installation issue. It sounds like the planks were not put in tight enough to prevent them from moving. Have you reached out to your installer?

    • @SgtZima
      @SgtZima ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an installation issue. The subfloor need to be extremely level before laminate or LVP are installed, or they will separate after a while. Installers need to check before the install and fix any issues before the floor goes down.

    • @edosdonkey
      @edosdonkey ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have to agree with the others. You would've had this same issue with any LVP, so unless Flooret recommended this installer, it's not their fault
