How exciting. It’s been awesome seeing the evolution of TBS technology since I began FPV in 2011. There’s been a lot of advancement. Great accomplishment TBS.
Don't you worry dude, I'm sure they'll be on this video soon enough. But we all know they won't use it for a positive story. With the magic of editing I can see the headlines now... "DRONE CLOSE CALL WITH A PLANE ABOVE THE ALPS" or "DRONE ALMOST CRASHES INTO SPEEDING TRAIN". Its a shame something so beautiful can be twisted in to something so scary. But unfortunately we live in a world where fearmongering by the governments and media outlets control the masses.
@@slingitsideways And still there is a reason why there should be a real pilot on every aircraft. A drone just follows its Programm. Even with sensores and collision avodience i doubt that it would work in most cases. As long as there are nearly 0 flying around risk of an mid air is not to high. But stuff like this go´s in a direction i don´t like as a pilot. lucily those toy´s will have big troubles taking strong lee´s, Venturi´s, local winds, thermals downdraft´s in account. Not talking about quickly changing weather, Thunderstorms ect. Thanks to our complex mountain weather i hope this stuff dosn´t go comercial on a bigger scale in near future.
But, what exactly is a drone? What happened to the stingless bee being called a bullshit drone? Are you aware that 'drone' means a continuous and annoying loud sound? So, what exactly is a drone, a word or a radio controlled model airplane? It's a model? Really? PMSL @ the low IQ, ignorant illiterates 🤣👌 excellent, excellent not! Go back to school dunces and learn the definition of 'drone', it's a word, not a weapon of mass destruction, or an RC model. LMAO! @ drone, my ass. How many things are drones? It's like calling everything a John. LOL @ the poorly educated stooges. 😄
I've asked that same question, and only have this to explain - autonomous movement of any robotic vehicle, with condition-based reasoning. But the masses call anything with more than 2 propellers a drone, evil evil drones
Was this a/c flown on the ground via a transmitter or simply flown using a pre-programmed autopilot mission? Was a Vtx used to stream the video to the ground or simply recorded on a Go-Pro? Interested to see what the complete setup was for this flight?
No, actually the system compensate the wind in real time, with an algorythm that compare heading, ground speed and airspeed. We checked the weather for about 10 days before choose this day (big luck on super calm weather for the alps environment), to be sure the wind wouldn't make the life too hard for the drone.
@@damianomaeder936 wind drift compensation is enough for the plains, but in the alps you have to know whether you fly on the lee side, whether you fly into venturi flow situations etc. Using a calm day is kind of cheating. ;-) Not to lessen your fantastic achievement!
@@folkenvanvanel6611 Yeah, actually we was having ready a plan to fly on left side of those mountains, right before the glacier, since wind was coming from west. Other option was to increase altitude further that would carry the drone out of the venturi (maybe even let it gain efficiency if dynamic soaring the wind). That's also why it took 55% of battery to make the flight, the reserve was kind of jolly for unexpected weather situations.
I have only one question and hope i get an answer. Do you have flight plan to send the drone(wing) as i can do with my parrot disco i can send it on flight plan with a 4.0 3s batt and with softmod i can use LTE as long range signal
Yes, but it was only facing down and didn't acted on the low passes, those was all GPS planned. LiDAR was supposed to act only in case of need the auto landing.
