@@mattplus09 I appreciate that. I have seen 95% of the bands I love but the stars never aligned for ELO until now. This video rocked. Can't wait for the show. Take care and keep rockin'.
Definitely in my top 50 of all time fav tracks.... Gets to me every bloody time.... Probably has also something to do with my age when this came out.....
You are right, his songwriting has so much Beatles influence in it. Jeff went on to produce the Beatles and was one of George Harrison's best friends. John Lennon called ELO sons of Beatles.
Jeff Lynne is among the stellar performers playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the R&R HoF ceremony. Please watch it if you haven't seen it. Peace, all 💕
I got tickets to see ELO at the Forum in LA in October 2024. I can't wait to see them. This has been on my bucket list for years. I listened to them in HS in the '70s but never got the chance to see them back then. It's going to be epic.
Jeff Lynne who was about 70 here and comes from my home City of Birmingham, UK is a great musician and producer. E.L.O. had loads of great songs and sounded just as good live as they did on the studio versions. My favourite is 'All Over The World' which is a very happy song. Jeff was also a member of the super group 'Traveling Wilburys' along with George Harrison (The Beatles), Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan.
What an amazing light show -- an ELO light show. I loved this song from the first time I heard it in 1977. A perfect blend of nostalgia (doo wops), lush orchestra, vocals, and the light synth touch. Altogether a moving song for sure!
Jeff Lynne's ELO is touring this summer! I am going to see them in Portland, Oregon next month. Can't wait! This will be my fourth time seeing them live, and they are always amazing and totally rocking in a beautifully sounding way. Their mind-blowing show at the Hollywood Bowl about 10 years ago is one of my all-time favorite concerts. Like you said, impossibly lush and Beatlish - what more could you want for a few hours?
Can’t wait to watch this through. Did you notice that the bass player, Lee Pomeroy, is the guy who played bass and guitar on Hackett Supper’s Ready too. Nice coincidence 😊
Uniquely Beatle-ish!!!.....yet totally original......an enigma that is hard to really solve. Another ( Beatles) similarity is Jeff Lynne is as prolific as McCartney & Lennon as a songwriter.........great stuff.👏👏👏
A brilliant song. I remember when this was new. It felt magical. Even though the lyrics are sad, the music is such a joy. Enjoyed seeing you basking in the moment.
To appreciate this song even better you have to understand at that time there were only landline phones no cell phones and not even answering machines so if you called someone (a girlfriend a boyfriend) and no one was home it just rang and rang if you think of it like that it gives a different Nuance to the song and its meaning❤
This year is his last US tour. If you have the opportunity to attend, do it; it will be an experience of a lifetime. Unfortunately I won't be able to be there, which for me represents a real tragedy, ELO's music has accompanied me for more than 50 years. If you miss it, you will regret it for the rest of your life. Big hug alongside my blessings.
ELO does sound somewhat Beatlesqe and Jeff Lynn worked with George Harrison back in the 1980s so it is no surprise. Before ELO the band name was The Move and they were excellent as well.
Just as The Move morphed into ELO, my fandom morphed right along with them. With as big as ELO became it’s always been surprising to me how few people recognize the name, “The Move.”
Just going off the top of my head with this . Original ELO drummer Bev Bevan might have "the rights" to the name Electric Light Orchestra ( I have a Live cd done by the band he lead after the original bands break-up and it has that name) This is why I think this band was called "Jeff Lynne's ELO"
Telephone Line was released in May 1977. ELO was founded in 1970 by Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, and Bev Bevan. ELO disbanded in 1986. Jeff Lynne reformed the band in 2014 as Jeff Lynne's ELO.
Classic Jeff Lynne - he sounds identical live to his records, amazing production and amazing musicians. Lee the bass player also plays in a friend of mine’s band, he’s a great player and singer… you should hear him yodel! 😂
Jeff Lynne was heavily influenced by The Beatles as you could tell from this song. He actually worked with the remaining Beatles (Paul, George, and Ringo) on their Anthology project in 1994 and produced the 2 new songs Real Love and Free as a Bird for it.
Fantastic reaction Lee as u Never disappoint with your honesty and intelligent analysis always shining through...as well as very REAL DEEP feelings being expressed❤....Super job!!! Cudos as per usual!!!
Go back and look at the bass player's bass. He's a left-hander playing a bass strung for a right-hander. The strings are upside down.... He's got a great band with him. Jeff is on his last tour right now. See him if you can....
Jeff Lynn, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Roy Orbison....The Traveling Wilburys... Handle With Care and End of The Line. Have you reacted to them yet?
Beautiful song. Interesting that you felt it was ‘Beatlesy‘. It was written only 7 years after the Beatles broke up and has obvious influences. Jeff Lynne worked with the three remaining Beatles in the 90’s for the Anthology albums and he was in The Travelling Wilburys with George Harrison too. Many tie ups
Check out these Electric Light Orchestra songs: Eldorado, Rock and Roll Is King, Roll Over Beethoven. Jeff and ELO were the first to take rock backed by strings to such a high level.
ELO wrote some beautiful music! But people if you like this you must check out the Incredible musician 'Karl Wallinger ' who passed away a few months ago at the age of Sixty six, tragic! He was a big part of the 'Waterboys ' initially and then formed the amazing band 'World Party '!! He wrote all the best songs that the Beatles, Stones and Elo never did!! Give yourselves a treat and give him a listen, you won't regret it!!...
Ah fabulous! More music from my childhood! My folks did good😁Oh I thought of another song of my childhood you should check out, if you haven’t already that is! Dire Straits - Tunnel of Love on the Alchemy Live album. Keep up the good work man, I do love your reacts🙌
Not to take away from this Jeff Lynn's ELO, but this is not the ELO band proper, You should see ELO's official band videos. "New World Record" was released in 1976, and the single from the album was released in 1977. The Album is Phenomenal!
If just Lynn heard you say it was Beatles -le he would smile and shake your hand and probably hug you! He said that's the best compliment anybody could ever give him is to say some of his music sounds something like the Beatles. High regard for this man! Peace!
It’s hard for those of us who remember the 1970s to watch this wonderful performance and video without getting a bit teary.
Amen.
Indeed! Saw the Lamb and Eldorado tours just a few days apart. Inconceivable nowadays ❤
This concert is available on bluray dvd.
Yes yes yes love this hole band
Love vintage ELO.
1977 + 40 years = 2017. Telephone Line is 47 years old in 2024.
And now I am 67 years old.
Even before answering machines...it was torture trying to get ahold of someone. Torture!! ❤😊
Been a fan for 50 years. Going to my first ELO show in October.
I'm totally jealous and I hope it's everything and more you hope it to be! Good journey :) Peace!

You will love Strange Magic!
Jeff Lynne is a treasure
You are right, his songwriting has so much Beatles influence in it. Jeff went on to produce the Beatles and was one of George Harrison's best friends. John Lennon called ELO sons of Beatles.
I love this song & the other ones he did at Wembly during this concert. He does sound like Paul McCartney!👍♥️
It's called Jeff Lynn's ELO because he wrote almost everything, recorded, produced, orchestrated. It was his vision.
Saw ELO live back in 1978. Amazing concert❤. Meat Loaf opened for them.
What was meat loaf like?
Meat Loaf was excellent back then . He did the entire Bat Out Of Hell album. Great live.
ELO was one of the very first groups to include strings etc in its live shows, back in the 70s - the music lives on!
Anyone who doesn’t know ELO = Electric Light Orchestra
Jeff Lynne is among the stellar performers playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the R&R HoF ceremony. Please watch it if you haven't seen it. Peace, all 💕
SO good! Yes, their music does sound "Beatles-y."
The studio version is an iconic track. The story really comes to life in it.
I wish people would listen to the studio versions first, THEN go back and watch live versions.
What a performance brilliant great review so many more great elo tracks ❤
Jeff's one of the great melodic songwriters of all-time. And he is a terrific musician, singer, producer, etc. A one-of-a-kinder indeed!

ELO always had a very Beatlesque sound. Paul McCartney said it himself.
@@gregfagan199 So did John Lennon!
Pretty good for 40 years later.

Fantastic performance.
It’s my ring tone….always gets a smile out of people who hear it.
"Turn to Stone" live is phenomenal!

Jeff also wrote "Free Fallin" with Tom Petty.

This tour came to the states in 2018: I saw them when they stopped in St. Paul MN. Jeff and the band is coming back for one more U.S. tour this year.
"Beatles-y"
Yeah, I've always thought of ELO as Hyper-Beatles.
This song came out right around my 18th birthday. Great song! It still brings tears to my eyes whenever I hear it. Excellent reaction, young man.
The whole Wembly or Bust concert is incredible… you could do an entire weeks worth of reactions to it.
What an incredible show, an incredible light display.
The chorus resembles All the Young Dudes…
Glad to see ELO live once---SUPER Show---record quality always.
I'm so glad someone remembered to plug the spaceship in.
Want to know when a band made a difference , and was a sound track to a Life...watch 70,OOO, SING every word, dance, and remember. ❤
He was big friends with George Harrison especially. They are such a fabulous group and Jeff an amazing musician and producer.
This whole show is a MUST watch❗️❗️❗️👍😎
ELO (Jeff Lynne) use a chorus effect so well that you don't really know it's there.

@@gsparkmanI never lost my love for Roy Wood though.
love the tapestry 🌸
Great song I love ELO
ELO is always a good use of time.
Lennon called them the junior Beatles. You can certainly hear the Beatles influence all over it for sure.
John's exact words were: "....and it's a nice group -- I call them "Son of Beatles' -- although they're doing things that we never did, obviously."
wow

I absolutely love ELO thank you for reviewing it I love to see young people experiencing it for the first time 💗
25.5K!!! Up! Up! & Up!!! 🎉🎶❤
This is my favorite ELO song .. such a good melody and touching lyrics. Love it.

That bit you liked so much is Amaj7 with a beautiful Dmaj7, those two really love each other.
I am not a big ELO fan but I do love this song.
Junior High School years!
Jeff Could have been one of the Beatles, lol He produced some of their songs, and collaborated with George Harrison. As well the travelling Willburys
OMG this song is epic🎇

Jeff Co-produced the Beatles reunion Anthology singles. Free as a Bird, Real Love, and the recent Now and Then. I’m going to see ELO in September!
the doo wop
ELO Rockeria and Boy Blue
Hey Lee, so proud of you, I too am fighting the battle if you know what I mean! Try Triumph, Lay it on the line, fantastic song

Seeing their final tour at the Forum in Oct. Amazing show!
Maybe my favorite ELO song especially to sing along too. This does not compare to the original version back in 1977!
Please react to Handle with Care, Traveling Wilburys.

If you haven't explored the traveling Wilburys yet, now is as good of a time as any.
Woohoo!! Back from Blocked Land!!! ❤🎶💯
Need to do Eldorado and Fire on High, please
Oh what humans can create when playing real instruments.
Jeff Lynne to me is a better composer than any of the Beatles ever were.
Same bass player as the Steve Hackett video
No shit really? That’s funny. What a small world.
This isn't ELO. It's Jeff Lynne and some hired hands!
Jeff has made it clear that his current musicians are just as amazing.
Not to take away from this Jeff Lynn's ELO, but this is not the ELO band proper, You should see ELO's official band videos. "New World Record" was released in 1976, and the single from the album was released in 1977. The Album is Phenomenal!
