I gotta say, I was more impressed by the cooking skills of the chef at the 2nd place than the 3rd. The $100 one was good but the $20 batch had some real thought put into it.
Agree, the 2nd place you can tell they had passion for their rolls and were creative. Not to mention the ambience was so cool. 3rd place she legit just shoved “expensive” ingredients into a basic rice wrapper. And then the audacity to eat those overpriced rolls on the sidewalk outside.
Actually the third one have to be more creative. Since no one ever done it with those expensive ingredients so she have to balance the flavor and use brain more on it. The 2nd chef mostly just remake maybe inovate the classic version a bit

Words can't describe how much I love Vietnamese spring roll. I try to incorporate Vietnamese spring roll in my meal at least once a week even when I'm broke 😭 I'm Filipino (American) but damn I love Vietnamese food for years now... Always wanted to visit the country but I don't wanna travel alone in SE Asia lol

Gotta say that I really like the 20$ spring rolls. Although the 100$ one is totally worth it also, but the 20$ one has more twist and has more thoughts on it I think?

Gỏi cuốn is considered a national dish of Vietnam along with phở and bánh mì. Amazingly light and healthy since the fresh herbs are the main star of this dish, definitely one of my favorite!
I love how these springrolls are partly raw, whereas the ones we can get here in Europe are always deepfried and crispy (and VERY hot on the inside). Would love to try this as well!

I like how in the 2nd tasting, as they move North to South, the music style changes as well.
