I was born in Alice. Don’t say that aloud often but it was a great town and there are still great people there.
From what Avi has shown us there are some real salt of the earth people living in Alice Springs. I hope they overcome the problems.

I worked in Alice for about 3 months in the year 2000. It could be a bit sketchy at times, but for the most part I felt pretty safe. It was nothing like what this looks like. I'm in no hurry to return that's for sure. It makes me feel pretty bad because I loved my time there. The locals were great.

Perhaps taxpayers should cut off financial support for all the indigenous and let them go back to being nomadic hunters and gathers and live their culture and those that don't want to live in the bush can go to school, get an education, get a job and take some responsibility for their lives. problem solved.

Whenever anyone mentions first nations (Aboriginal) people it automatically becomes a debate about something that can't be taken back, which is colonisation. Now, this is a great diversion for governments and woke "activists" to avoid assisting these communities with actual solutions. It's much easier to appear that you care, instead of actually caring! I'm not pretending I know how to help, it's bigger than me, but guys like Allen are at least doing something to thwart or minimise crime in Alice springs, unlike the police whose hands are tied. I'm sure someone will call me a particular type of German from 1938 to 1945 for this comment.
