@@illford Of course EDM is a genre. DnB and Synthwave have quite a bit in common, but most specifically to your question that relaates them both into the same EDM bracket is, 90% of the sounds used in these sub genres is electronically generated, hence the name EDM.
Mate, you got to let me show you some EDM sound shaping sometime 😎 Be careful with OTT. It's extremely aggressive, so use it lightly. Depth of around 20% in most cases is more than enough. OTT is an Upwards and Downwards compressor... It's a rare situation where you need both upwards and downwards so be sure to have in mind what you're using OTT for and use it accordingly. I usually go: EQ > Compressor > Saturation > Very light OTT > Stereo imaging > Surgical EQ > Exciter > Sidechain

it's just a sawtooth wave with lots of usison voices. You could add a second saw tooth wave in a higher octave fiddle with the detune amount with the unison and your done. If you're really fancy you can add a filter connected to an envelope, or you can add an envelope that makes the pitch fade in.
