I found it interesting that the warmer it got the faster it would run.
Just bought one new. Breaking it in with a 20x6, kinda scary engine so powerful !!!
Phenomenal definitely describes this engine david 👌
I have one sitting on my bench i scored it yesterday,,i see you run that engine for approximately 6mins..im amazed how much glow fuel it didn't use..amazing..my original thought was to convert to gas..buy i am only going halfway and installing an ignition system with spark plug i live the way an engine behaves on spark ignition,,and im sure i could even swing a larger prop on gas ..but il be testing this engine in a hangar 9 30cc ultra stick, i believe it will work a charm
Great videos david 👏
I just scored one of these . . . very low time and appears lke new. :) Came wit everything in the original box. Gonna scratch build an Ultimate Bipe for it this winter. ;) 8200 RPM . . Impressive with a 20x8 Prop . . . and the idle is sublime.
It sounds REAL Happy! ! Thanks for making my day!
Sounds great
It puts out similar power as a DLE35 maybe even a bit more. I never ran a MAS on my 35's to know for sure. I used to run a Falcon CF on them and they were in the mid 7k or so. Been a few years now.
I'm really looking forward to finding a plane for my 220!!! Awesome video David.
Wonderful job David.
Awesome Saito quality, performance and reliability... I'm installing mine in a Seagull 33cc Hurricane... it should be pretty good 😊
Nice❤️🦅
That engine is awesome!
This one always gets me revved up! Would you be interestedin a 20 x 8 wood prop? I have an extra.
At I:35 I say Coolpower Omega 10%. I did not mean to say Omega. The fuel is Morgan's Coolpower 10% which is a fully synthetic oil fuel, no castor. Then at 1:45 I state the fuel in the tank is synthetic and castor. It is not. It is straight castor oil in the fuel, no synthetic at all. These could be important clarifications and possibly an explanation for how the engine runs in this video. If you compare RPM figures from the last 220a video to this one you will see a higher value in this video. Is that due to the fuel and oil? Those are the only things different.
It's just murphy's law! - as soon as you try and show something to someone...
Hi Dave, Awsum engine! Am looking forward to seeing it in a suitable model! Could I just ask a tech kind of question...lt looked like the max revs you got were about "810"(8100)...would you not normally then richen up by some 300 revs - so back down to 7800 ("780")? for a "safe" flying setting?
That is normally the rule of thumb when setting up ANY glow engine.
@@dmrcflyr2 ...but you didn't do that in the video...or did you...?
Why would I do it in the video? I’m making engine runs only. I’m not setting these up for flight.
@@dmrcflyr2 Got it! Thanks Dave.
Does anyone know by any chance the compression ratio for the 220? I've always felt mine had a colossal amount of it, but what is it in plain numbers? Thankful to anyone who can enlighten me. Also David whenever you do the next run of your 220, try an OS F plug with 10% Nitro so that I can compare numbers with my 220, if possible please ;)
Sounds like a plan. I have plenty of 10% fuel.
@@dmrcflyr2 That's awesome, and thank you in advance. The difference is my 220 has ~ 32 hours running time, your's probably not even an hour :) Even so, it will be most interesting.
Regards Harry
@@Irvine7214x6apc I’m planning on taking it out today. 10% cool power and a 20x8 prop. I’ll install a new OS F plug also
@@dmrcflyr2 You're the man David ;) Already "rubbing my hands" in anticipation :D Thank you so very much, I bet everyone that follows your channel has missed the big bore thumper already. Cool power though, I seem to remember your RPM dropped with that fuel - anyway very much looking forward to that video, naturally.
What does turning the prop backward accomplish?
Flipping it backwards (bounce off compression, not thru it) is the best way to start ANY model engine, in my book!
@MikeG4936 most of my experience has been with .40 to .60 sized engines (or smaller, a few bigger). I normally use a starter and seldom hand start at all. Does it work on the smaller ones?
@@dcdurbin1 sure does! It's really fun when you get the hang of it! Easiest when you have a nice spinner to grab hold of.
Do you do the awesome YS engines?
Do you know how to use the search feature on a TH-cam channel? :-)
@@dmrcflyr2 there is no search on mobile app
@@earleclemans4836 Well then I guess you have to use a pc or Mac then. Gee I just did a search on my iPhone in TH-cam for YS engine and found several from my channel…. I also have a playlist for them.
@@dmrcflyr2 ok cool i will check the playlists
