As someone who comes from the (i think they call it the P.U.L community), thats protestant, unionist, loyalist for those who aren't acronym aware, i think some loyalist people don't realise some people are loyal to irish unity and the irish government and sovereignty not just some people loyal to the British Crown, british rule and British sovereignty,
Some unionist people don't realise that some people think that union is between 6 counties unifying with 26 counties to become a united ireland not just England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland remaining united and when it comes to protestant religion*
*its a religion so technically you can vote sinn fein, want a united ireland, hate the British monarchy, speak fluent gaeilge and still be protestant so why no tricolours on the 11 or 12,but the irony is the same can be said about the Catholic religion*
*you can love the monarchy/be a royalist, you can speak english, you can be British and have a British passport and still be catholic so until the P.U.L community realise this reality then the British union is tettering on the edge of demise then the union between the 6 counties and 26 counties of the island of ireland is inevitable.

They will never do that, their ideology cannot allow for it, if it did they wouldn't exist politically.
If they've refused to sign the Good Friday Agreement and refuse to acknowledge that they no longer exist to represent a majority that shares their beliefs and this reality very clearly terrifies.

Unfortunately loyalists seem to say no to every single opportunity to move NI forward into a more modern, secular, liberal, equal society and they have done for decades. It seems to me that the only way they’ll be pleased is if a hard border is put on the island and Northern Ireland reverts back to the way it was when it was founded, ie a Protestant/loyalist dominated province where the Catholic/ nationalist population are again made second class citizens. This is not going to happen and the lack of forward thinking by the loyalist community is quite sad. A community that seems to be permanently chained to the past at the expense of their own happiness and prosperity.

I grew up in East Belfast and I'm really not in the mood for someone calling for NI loyalist vs Mainland British conflict.
