No, the reason is greedy corporations who want skilled labor for the minimum cost. We are not filthy. We are not lazy. We value our skills and time. Most of us would prefer NOT having to call a center in India. While my experience is that call center reps from these centers are nice, professional people - the language barrier is quite significant. And, though we all rail against stereotypes, the problem is that there is some truth to them. I have received som rather moronic support there.

Once had a TracFone operator or tech support guy in Jakarta Indonesia and he was extremely helpful and jovial. I said it's hard to believe that he's that far away. Sounded like he was literally a few feet away.

I know this is a parody but the most irresponsible thing here was placing the gal calling the suicide hotline on HOLD. In the US call center I'm @, we would NEVER have done that; we would have tried to calm her down & offer her a free on the spot session with a counselor. We also consider 5 minute hold times excessive; it was tactless to say someone was "with a client" - what is the other client, chopped liver?
