Of course he does- not only does he have a bit in his mouth but he has a flash nose and keeping his mouth closed and unable to move naturally. Drawbacks of this piece often outweigh any benefit.

Training horses has always been a deep dream of mine. But I couldn’t going to school for it. Even after all these years it still kinda stings watching someone live your dreams. Glad it was in the cards for you to do this in your lifetime.

I over the silence while you saddled him....so peaceful and calming....maybe horses don't have to be constantly spoken to, after a while they may stop listening! Like children. Hands and legs more reassuring for them and I also breathe out to them.nice collected canter. Love the flowing mane!!

I rode a perchron stud for years I would canter and slow him down till he broke to a trot then back to a canter He learned to slow canter it was like floating on air.

Lord, that looks comfortable! On a Western seat, it would be just like a ride on a child's rocking horse . . . . .
PS: One of the reasons I preferred a Western saddle for trail rides was I'm lazy, and the girth was just so much easier to manage 😋
I ride english ..western girth looks complicated to me don't worry about the english girth its really really simple

@@silverkitty2503 Actually, lacking any buckles, a Western girth - not including the belly band, which is almost never used in pleasure riding - is no more than tying your shoe on one side once you have the saddle set up for the horse it's fitted to; if you have to make an adjustment, you simply reach down on the left side and either pull the girth's cinch strap tighter or loosen it. There's only one side to worry about and, without buckles, you don't have to worry about lining them up exactly.
There are things you do not do on a Western saddle, anything other than a very minor jump being one of them, but with a horn and higher pommel, as well as a much more pronounced cantle, they are much more reassuring for first time riders. There is also none of the more stylized formality and posture expected on an English seat, even for the most relaxed pleasure ride.
As I grew up on a family breeding and showing operation, our formal lessons included every saddle type considered common at the time. With my sister also showing, as she had to learn side saddle, I had to learn side saddle, an experience best left described as "uncomfortable." Our instructors and coaches tended to be very 'proper,' extremely rigid and demanding, mostly Europeans who would be with us for a couple of years and then move on as their visa/immigration status was resolved; I have to say the family spared no expense insuring we received the best training available as our performance directly impacted the sales [but things were decidedly different in the 50s and 60s compared to the mid-80s on].
@@Tara101 The 2 hardest things to learn and remember is a single-handed neck reining and the fact you do not 'post' - a habit I never did learn to stop without consciously continually paying attention, and that I never found to be a comfortable seat over any length of time [bounce, bounce, bounce hurts!]
@@dinganddoo2 All opinions are relative, based upon experience and the rider's history. I have the same reaction to what, in my generation, was an English saddle called "Park Seat," I swear the only tack with less between you and the horse is a bareback pad. What is comfortable is more is definitely an issue for the horse, with the rider's opinion a very far second. Personal observation over 60 years is that the wider and flatter the horse's barrel, the happier the horse will be with a Western saddle; second choice is what used to be termed an Austrian cavalry saddle [I apologize for ancient terminology, but what you learned when you started riding tends to stay with you for the rest of you life]. My favorite mount, a Morgan, would not tolerate an English saddle of any type, and the only guessplanation I ever came up is that she hated the girth for some reason of her own. And an unhappy horse does not produce the best riding experi
Human riders can adapt more easily than our 4-footed friends, and that should be what drives our decisions. After all, we owe it to them to ensure their comfort and happiness. I figure after 60 years if i can accept a bitless bridle over the curb and snaffle I learned with, I could adopt to anything - provided my companion is happy with it.

the traffic is a slow process. Apollo had a lot of traffic training in Friesland. I started Farouk in hand walking as a family outing. Then building up in hand (he wasn't' backed) with a busier road and so on. When he was back again his first outing was as a family outing.
Apollo I'm so beautiful and I collected cancer. But he's also very intentive to you you can just tell, one ear is going forward & the other ear is back listening to you. Love Apollo is just so elegant. Good job Tara!!! Hello Ren

Hi Tara and Apollo.! He is so beautiful what a joy to look at. When I was a girl in the fifties, I had a friend who's dad owned some Clydesdales. We would go into the barn. They were so big and beautiful. I think that is when I fell in love with horses. Of course I love all animals. 🐎🐾🐾🤗😊❤🧡💚💙💜
