    This song is actually 20 mins long approx. You missed a huge part and essence of this song in this shorter version. The longer version has much more higher notes , and soulful classical touches, its much more powerful to listen to. So please listen to one of the older version and also look up the translations of this song on Google. And yea, it is essentially about God.

    Nusrat is the Kawali king, he is doing Kawali here. Kawaii is a form of religious song. Basically praising god (Allah) in all ways possible.
    The clapping thing is the specialty and the trademark tradition of this form of music.

    • @ohbe187
      @ohbe187 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      There are tons of Qawali that's not religious , Qawali is traditional to us but not part of religion ( what you saying is called "Naat" and which our song for God and even that hold no value in Islam but it's sung optional )
      Qawali is purely traditional nothing to do with religion

      @@ohbe187 well thanks. All the Kawali I heard were all talking about god.
      Yes songs are nothing to do with any mainstream religion. Be it Hinduism, Islam, Christianity etc.
      But it do exists so obviously God's creation. Because the entire existence is the creation of God, be it good, bad, ugly, right, wrong, love, hate, left, right, sky, ground everything.

      Actually Owais is also wrong. "Naat" is the word specifically reserved for when it is about praising the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
      Naat = A "song" in which Prophet Muhammad is praised.
      Hamd = A "song" in which Allah is praised.
      Qawwali = A particular style of music that is, although mostly associated with religious songs and sufism, isn't always limited to it.

    You are missing out on a huge aspect of this type of singing due to lack of knowledge about what is going on and that is the different raags that are being recited. Do some research on the raags and the different notes he is firing at machine gun speed with the musician following after. There are several great videos of this as well.

  • @aali87
    @aali87 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Hey Carl. The classical traditions of Raag are central to this type of music; have a read up on it. Hard to equate it to something in Western musical theory. It comes from a root word meaning 'to colour' as it literally is designed to colour the mind. It's a melodic framework essentially. However the key notion and spiritual aspect of it is that it is believed to elicit and imbue emotions and moods. There are Raags for different times of the day, different seasons and of course different feelings etc. Hard to explain but it's music synergised to the metaphysical. Like trying to translate the physical feeling and ambience of a cold winter night into musical form, or the smell of a certain memory evoking fragrance into a melody. Essentially turning sensual and emotional stimuli into melody. That's the heart and soul of the sub-continent's musical tradition and history. Nusrat was a master of this science. His family are said to have been doing this type of music for 700 years. Have a listen to 'Ja Ja Ve Apne Mandirwa' by Ashwini Bidhe. Its done in a Raag called Bhimpalasi which is associated with a hot afternoon. Good example of the above. See if it colours your mind :) Enjoy! Love your vids

    This practice of clapping developed due to the performances of the Qawals in rural areas where there was no loudspeakers in earlier days. They used to keep the beats and divisions using palms. This has become a signature of Qawali singing nowadays. This form has widely used in Hindi (Bollywood) films too. Qawali has come from "Qaul dena" (calling out the supreme).

    That young boy is rahat fateh ali khan. Can u react to 'saari raat' by noori coke studio. Its on channel rohail hyatt the original producer of coke studio. I want to know about the vocals of Ali noor as he is not trained but sings and composes by the ear.

    The guy who looks like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is actually his father Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan. What you call texture in his voice, is actually what people fell in love with, not because it's texture, but because it's Master NFAK.
    If you follow his work, you'll notice that he leads the other singers and the others follow the tune he sets. He is one of the best ever, not because I say so, but because no one from us can call him by name without his title The Masters before his name; even though he is gone, but his talent and the amount of work he put into his work, makes him immortal in this part of the world.
