@@brandons2411 That had some merit way back when plenty of cars only had a mirror on the driver's side (plus the interior of course) but not so much nowadays where ALL cars are equipped with mirrors on both sides.- if only people would use them as well....The splitting lanes method (when it works) has the advantage of being able to go to either side without having to cross back over the other lanes again(and having to wait for ****heads to make room again).

I think y'all made scene in pretty good time considering the distance and the traffic on 141 and 95. What I will never understand though is why people can not seem to GTFO of our way. Other countries do it so much better than we do here. In Germany I think it is, if there is stopped traffic on the highway, you are supposed to move left or right and leave the center lane open for emergency vehicles. Here, forget about them moving right, they almost never do. Lights and sirens don't mean anything to anybody. You don't know how many times I just want to push them out of the way. But you know, the same ones that refuse to move out of our way are the first ones to complain when we don't get to their dying relative or burning house on time.

I remember all too well how that traffic is. I live in San Antonio, TX now for half the year, and the other half I'm in Tampa/St Pete/Clearwater area in Florida. San Antonio drivers are bad, and I remember the drivers up there. But the worst are the ones in Florida. Honestly I think it's old people that should not even be driving any more. I really think it should be drilled in to people when they take Driver's Ed about how to react to emergency vehicles. I think when I took my National Registry exams, I had about 6 or 7 questions about driving the ambulance. I don't remember ANY questions about emergency vehicles on my driving test when I got my licenses (which I have had in several states.) Like I said, I just want to push them out of the way sometimes!

One reason why I love how we do it here in CA. Almost no departments run code on the interstates and freeways unless they are about to go on scene or in heavy traffic. Once you hit the on ramp everything is shut off. You can hardly go as fast as highway traffic when everyone is going 70-80 around you. Not even ambulances roll code on the freeways.

Why there are trucks on left lane? If trucks are on the left lane its imposible to go around them. In Poland for this and few other reasons trucks are prohibited from driving on far left lane, if they are not overtaking other vehicles or turning left on a crossroad. When there is emergency vehicle coming you are obligated to give way by driving to the right side of a road (single lane; right lane on dual lane; two lanes from the right on 3 lane) or left (left lane or far left lane on 3 lane road) to make corridor in the middle for them.

I'm not a fan either. This apparatus was spec'd by the state Environmental response coordinators , not the fire company. At the time of spec,this set up was on their fire company issued vehicles.
