- Good morning everyone...and welcome to so many new subscribers! Thank you for subscribing and helping me and Peach get to 10k. Wow 🙏! I can hardly believe another week has gone by...time goes by so fast out here. I haven't heard the wolves for about 5 days, but Peach is still restricted to her leash for the foreseeable future.
I hope you enjoy today's video "slow-living" video!
Amanda + Peach (& Buttercup, in spirit ❤️)

Amanda. I really like your music choices. Thanks for another great video 👋😃🤗
Thanks so much! 😊
Was just going to say that too 😄❤️👍🏾
Glad Peach. Is still on leash, wolves are Very cunning, as you know.
you have a great job!!
Thank you and thanks for watching :)
Great story about the Bears, BC So much wildlife , Have Fun😘
Yes, I've got my eyes peeled for the bears. I wouldn't be surprised if they showed up early b/c of the warm weather this year. The amount of wildlife here in the summer is amazing... sealions, seals, orcas, humpbacks, bears and sometimes sea wolves.
Iam sure with your experance and awareness you will spot them, your so fortunate to see all this wildlife in the real, didn;t know there were Sealions in Canada, I learn alot from your Videos thanks for sharing Amanda
I am 84 and I long. for the home you maintain, thank-you
❤️
Me too at 63!
Looking good......sun, sea, views and smiles....
Yes, when the sun comes out here it gives you reason to smile :). It's so beautiful!
Thought you'd be out on the town. Oops wrong one lol. Most of us moved over into the slow lane. It's safer and less stressful!!
What a great place
We haven't seen any bears here yet, but I don't think they are far away! With this beautiful, warm weather, I imagine they will wandering around soon! We only get Grizzlies!
I'm amazed you don't have an incinerator! Do they haul garbage out in the summer too?
Have a great Easter weekend. The weather is beautiful isn't it.
yikes!! i'm glad grizzlies aren't a regular thing on this island. i'm cool with wolves, black bears and cougars b/c generally they just leave you alone. there is an incinerator on the property, but i think it was used for 25+ years and bit the dust before the current owners purchased the property. during the summer i have a boat so i can take the garbage myself. winter i rely on owners visiting or supply trips with my neighbours. do the grizzlies come onto the float homes?
Love your channel so much.❤
Beautiful scenery.... always looks so peaceful there....
It really is! Thanks so much for watching!
Always an interesting video. Have a lovely week !
Thank you! You too!
Good morning Amanda, love ur Channel 💖, peace in a mad mad world 🌎 🕊 🏕 🐋
Hi there :). It is a quiet world out here. I'm very fortunate. Thanks so much for watching.
Always great to see you...Hope you and Peach are both well 🙂
yes, we are, thank you... and thank you for watching!!
Saying ‘hi’ to you and Patch all the way from Malaysia🥰…so peaceful(just be alert with the wild😊)
Hello Malaysia :)... yes, I am very alert... all the time :)! Thank you :)!
Its so peaceful to watch your videos. A slow pace lifestyle, surrounded by nature, trees, water wildlife and a canine companion. Its pretty Magical!
❤️❤️ i am so happy you enjoy the videos!
Wow who knew the sound would travel that far across the water. Good to know :) Have a wonderful week.
i know it’s crazy! sometimes anchorages can be pretty noisy b/c of that. have a good week 😊!
I was shocked and had no idea! Science is so amazing!
Love to watch your videos, peach is doing good getting off and on the boat, she'll be a pro at it in no time. Stay safe!
Oh I hope so!! She's a bit afraid of new things, but I've noticed that if she is exposed to it enough she eventually accepts it as safe. I think she'd really enjoy exploring all the different islands there are to see in BC :)
Peach looks just like my rescue Max that I got from a Fed Ex driver who found him on the side of the road-the vet estimated his age at 6-7 weeks at the time he was found. Sweet, smart and a boat dog like no other. I had him for eleven of the best years of my life. On his ID tag, the back side read “Best Dog On The Planet.” He lived up to it, I miss him everyday.
what an amazing way to get a wonderful companion❤️❤️. i'm sorry he's no longer with you...it's a heartbreaking thing ❤️❤️.
Listening to you is like a fresh Breeze in my life.
OMG
Your choice of music is so serene & peaceful! Amen to the quiet!
Spring it here , Amanda.... Busy as usual. I'll soon start seeding vegetables in my little greenhouse. Peach is getting used to the sailboat. My little dachshund, Moose, was my first mate. He is now sailing in heaven. I miss him every day. He used to swim and then tried to dry off on the jib which was often lying on the foredeck while we were on anchor somewhere. Take care.
yes, same here! next week i am going to move some soil around. daschund's are actually the best sailing dogs. i know a couple that has one and she was a real trooper on the their boat (they recently exchanged their boat for an RV). sounds like he had an amazing life :).
So happy you've been putting the drone up. Thanks! Squirrel!! Lol Great coloring. :) yay!!! Peaches is checking out the boat. :) must be why it's called a sound. ;)
yes i’ve tried out the new drone and it’s pretty amazing. i haven’t sent it to far as i’m a big chicken - haha!!
Hello Amanda. Glad to see ur doin well! It's so peaceful there! Wish I could live there! But will enjoy ur vids for now 😊
Thank you! 😊
Hey thanks again for bringing us alonge looked like a great day happy Peach is starting to get use to your sailboat. all takes time eh. always awesome views where you are in B.C. take care of yourself and Peach until next time Amanda.
Yes, Peach will get there. She's not a water dog and the movement of a boat under her feet is a whole new experience for her :). Thanks so much for watching :)!
Very soothing to watch you work and care for all. You keep everything so tidy. Love your sailboat (nice size). I used to sail a lot in my 20-30’s. Miss it now. Stay safe.
I get that. I miss being out on the boat... thanks for watching :)
The older I get the more I am obsessed with local weather also 😂
Ah, the days of being young, not caring what the weather was 😅! Now, I am like my grandmother. Can tell you it will rain soon by my knees! 😬😩
Peaches is looking great! Y’all have a great week!
😆😆 i hear ya!! weather pretty much dictates what can and cannot be done on a daily basis here.
I sure love your videos. Music & content is beautiful, comforting and peaceful. God bless you sweetie ❤
Hi Amanda. Praying your upcoming week is great. Be safe. Great video.
Thank you! Will do!
Just great watching... thanks, Cher and (four legged kind)Bruce. We live the slow hard working life in rural Quebec.
hello to you and Bruce! i went to the Université de Montréal for a bit :). i loved Quebec!
What a difference Amanda between the first few videos of you splitting wood with an axe, to today! You’re a pro! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi Amanda, l loved at the very beginning you were on the dock looking out and Peaches was doing the same 😀. It was just perfectly cute!! Have a great week, cheers 😊
Oh thank you!
I know you’ll be super cautious of the Bears, Amanda. - We love ya gal! Thanks for sharing a bit of your life. Oh, and I’m sure in time Peaches will learn to Sail away with you. 😉🩷🌸🌷🌸
Yes! Thank you!
Hi Amanda, it's always nice to see a video from you. I'm curious, don't you ever get T-shirt weather there? You could cut down on your trash using a burn barrel. Burn all your burnables and you would have less to haul. Our bears are starting to wake up here. Thanks for sharing.
Hi John!! I saw you were live today, but I was so busy editing this video I didn't get a chance to check it out... maybe next time!! In the forest where my cabin is it's always quite chilly...even when it's warm weather, so I'm always wearing a jacket of some kind :). There is a burn barrel on the property...only issue is the pipe on the barrel has rusted and fallen off. I think the original owner used it for incinerating trash, but it eventually gave up the ghost. Normally the owners would come more often and take the garbage, but this winter not so much. Have you seen bear tracks yet?
@@AmandaOffGrid I see. Nope, haven't seen any tracks yet but a couple of friends have. I'm keeping an eye out. You and Peaches stay safe.
Always enjoy your videos Amanda ..stay safe.
Thank you!
I always feel relaxed watching you do chores. Hard worker !!
Good morning ! Love your videos, it talks to the inner me who wants to live closer to nature and enjoy simpler thing to the fullest. Keep up and thanks for sharing
Love that!
You work hard, but it looks so peaceful. I am a wee bit jealous of your beautiful surroundings.
some days i work harder than others 😆😊. thx for watching!
When you’re off grid or just traversing the world, it’s necessary to keep up with the weather!
I lived in my JGC w/my17ft trailer for almost 6 yrs before I financed this newly constructed home.
I’m getting older so, I figured to get indoors!
I Love the great outdoors so much!
Great music - and another great video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Peach will adjust if you do a good 2-3 walks a day on a looooong leash. I cut my dog way back when her recall was ( suddenly) not great and she is good. I do a few sprints with her on each walk, ( am not a runner and am 67) and she loves that plus the ability to wander 30 feet into the bush on leash. Then I usually do a sniff exercise where I hide treats. This mental activity helps. Plus I find spots where she can jump logs and sniff ferns. All this is stuff she likes and it keeps her happy. Hope Peach ends up loving the boat.
hi Jana 😊… peach is on a leash right now b/c wolves have been trying to lure her away. it’s best to keep her close to me with a short leash as wolves will still attack her on leash. peach has top notch recall (the rescue sent her to an incredible trainer), but she is very protective of me and the property, so i don’t trust her not to go after a wolf…she would be no match for a 🐺!! also in a worst case scenario it would be too late to recall. it sounds like your dog is a lucky pup to have 2-3 walks a day ❤️❤️
Great story about the Bears
Started watching your show and my Internet cut out and I was like what I just paid the bill….. It’s very important that I watch your shows even though it’s a repeat I like repeats. I guess I won’t be in Port Townsend until Sunday, so I’ll wave to you then I’ll be in Shelton before going fishing at a lake. Turned out I didn’t put the Internet on.😁🤣❤️. I like this little truck better less work than the four wheeler ❤️💯
Another relaxing video. Ok, at least watching it is relaxing. You’re working very hard. While watching this one I got to thinking the owner(s) must like being able to see how things are going around their property through your videos. Kind of an added bonus for them.
Wonderful to see how you’ve settled in there. I think you were anchored in Campbell River when I first started watching your videos. You’ve come a long way.
hi Don 😊… i don’t think they watch the videos 😆. yes, campbell river seems like it was many many years ago 😊😊.
I just watched a video of you telling your story and I want to tell you that I am in the same boat as you. After struggling for many years with a couple of illnesses, over time I realized that I really enjoy being alone and the tranquility that it provides. I am in the process of selling my house and going to live in the forest in Patagonia. I am from Argentina and is the dream place, I hope you continue well and enjoy your story and it was helpful in taking the last necessary step.
amazing!!!!!! good for you!!! i wish you the best of journeys 🧡🧡🧡
Maybe you together with Peachy can have a sailing holiday soon!
Yes, I hope. Have to get my boat back in shape and get her to the point where she doesn't want to jump off - haha!!
Great video and congrats on 10,000 subs!
Thanks so much!
Hungry bears should remember - people get hungry too, and bear roast reminds me of buffalo, similar texture and very juicy. Apologies to any vegans in the house... but I love me some bear, pot roasted with carrots, onions and potatoes...
My grandparents lived on a lake in Michigan... Grandma always said to be very quiet because sound travels across water! I am a new subscriber and I am really enjoying your video's. Thank you for sharing.
She was right :) - haha! it really travels! Thanks for watching :)!
@@AmandaOffGrid We used to sit on the dock and fish at night... barely whispering to each other. Good memories!
Hi Amanda! What a beautiful life you live! I’m curious about your diet and would enjoy a “what I eat in a day” video.
oh that would be a pretty boring video - haha! i eat 1 meal a day, but i could do a video of me making that 1 meal 😊😊.
You need a wagon to help transport all that fire wood!
Hi Amanda, love ur channel. Greetings from Italy❤🎉
Hello! Thank you! Thank you for watching :)
Love your adventures ❤
So love your videos/story!!! You are extraordinary gal, for sure!!! Coming from Massachusetts, enjoying your many adventures! You and Peach be safe!
Thank you so much!! 🧡🧡
I see you have another baby!
That’s grand!
I have to get a couple myself
Hey there just checked the weather for next weekend and it looks glorious. I think our spring has SPRUNG ❤🍃🌾
Just found your channel, I think you are amazing 😊
And she can use an axe too! You truly are an off-the-grid gal. Did Buttercup have to stay inside or on a leash when people came to the island or when the wolves were howling?
Buttercup’s mobility was so poor in her old age she preferred to stay inside on the couch. i don’t think the wolves realized Butter existed she moved around so little. Peach, on the other hand, is an explorer so her scent is consistently everywhere…i’m sure that’s why the wolves are poking around. butter was on a leash when the owners dog was around as he didn’t like her much. she was a gentle girl, but had zero tolerance for younger dogs. Peach is on leash 100% of the time when anyone other than me is around.
Hey wish the best from Louisiana 👍🙏
Wow there is truly so much maintenance and upkeep. Its amazing how hard you work almost daily.
i do take a few days here and there to focus 💯 on my freelance work… it’s a good balance i think 😊. thx for watching!
I worked at a fishing lodge in se alaska, in the kitchen we scraped all food waste into a plastic garbage can on wheels. Called " the swill bucket" then when full maintenance would take it up the bay to feed the crabs. I have rags around n my window sills and spray ammonia around my front door one wif and they go away. Also i tried the air horn when i go outside but am going to look into a bicycle horn bulb type instead ..thankyou for letting me share. 9:22
these are some amazing tips!! thanks! i like the idea of a bulb horn… it’s a pain when i run out of air.
Thought you'd be out on the town lol. Oops wrong one lol. We moved into that slow lane, it's safer and less stressful!
definitely less stressful :)!!
❤
Hey Amanda, please tell us about your boots. (Chopping wood) they look amazing. :)
:)... they're the men's Terra Patton Waterproof boots. they have an alloy toe. i got them b/c i broke 2 toes by dropping wood on them! finally smartened up and bought some protection for my feet :).
Every do any crab fishing and fishing for food. You should do a video on that
👏☺
Do the Bears, Cougars and Wolves swim between islands?
Yes. Black bears, deer, grizzlies, sea wolves and cougars all swim from island to island here. If the currents are going the right way they can ride them between islands :). I haven't seen it yet, but the owners have seen black bears hauling themselves onto shore after a long swim.
Hi Amanda I live in Alberta but I want to move BC soon. Do you rent out any cabins for a few days or more for people who want a little vacation? I love it where you are. You are blessed even if its hard work. I found your videos from Alternative living.
Hi there :), you can find my contact email in the about section. I can send you some info. The only thing that can be an issue is transportation to the island. You must have your own, very reliable, boat to get here.
Really enjoy your videos Amanda. So interesting for me to watch, coming from a hot country. I see tonight a California man has been killed by a mountain lion. So your vigilance about the wolves is certainly warranted💥
yah those cougars/ mountain lions are scary creatures!! a cougar will attack a human if it’s sick, really really hungry or sometimes even if it’s a young one that doesn’t know any better. luckily there are plenty of deer in this island for them to feast on. i’ve only seen evidence of 1 cougar here, but that doesn’t mean they’re not (weren’t) here!
Amanda, Do you fish? I'm assuming you eat a lot of fish as one of the perks of living healthy off the grid. Do you collect berries, mushrooms? I understand that you go with your neighbor by boat to town and go to grocery stores but just wondering what you harvest there.
Garbage problem sounds bad.Can there be no other option. ?
I did try burning it for the first few months I was here, but it was so messy. Also attracted a lot of animals. I believe the people that built this placed used a sealed incinerator, but it has rusted and is no longer usable.
My worst fear, taking on a dog and it won't go on my C30, well hopefully Peach will get it when it warms up, this weather has been crazy.
yes indeed!! i’ll be patient with Peach, but the gal has no choice 😆.
I never thought about your trash. I guess you have to be careful about what packaging you buy - cardboard is best for burning but even things that store well, like beans come in bags?
yes. meat packaging is really the most difficult thing to deal with. it’s toxic plastic so the only thing you can really do is wrap it up real good and put it in the garbage.
What happened to your first cabin sweetheart
Great vid, Do you sometimes feel lonely, separated from family parties etc. Do you sometimes wish to have children or a man to love...How do you deal with that?
Nope :). I don't have to deal with it b/c I don't wish for my life to be any other way. It's a question I am asked a lot :) and I understand why people ask. I think my answer to this question is tough for many to understand. We're all so beautifully different and each of us need different things to make us happy. I have found a profound happiness in silence and the company of a canine :). Both my parents have passed and I'm in almost daily contact with my amazing sister so there's that :).
You need some green paint
Yes, I think the decks are going to be a big summer project this or next year.
May I recommend an original song written about the mountain wilderness ?
