Im 35 just now i have it...my body was broke...i have to set limits..and lost lot of people...my nerve systheem is broken and i hope it gets better ..immuunsysteem and my gut...did you tried probiotica ..the gut and the brain...tis helping me a lot
Being a female on the spectrum can look alot different. Alot of us are better in social situations and understanding of sarcasm , ect. This is because we are more socially motivated to begin with so we find ways to fit in. We copy what we see. I'm still having a hard time taking off a mask that I didn't know I was wearing. In my case where Mental Illness ends and autism begins I'm still not sure. I think it's common in other women as well. We tend to be misdiagnosed bi polar. We are often sensitive to hormones and can suffer from pmdd. We usually have eating disorders , OCD , and ADHD. But the biggest for women is the anxiety. It eats me alive daily.
Oh yes the pmdd is the worst. With no birth control I have manic and psychotic episodes before I get my period. It's truly the worst especially now that I'm considering having a child
Yep gotta girl i know of....anxious about everything...scared of everything. So much so she,ll bully others to do the things for her that make her anxious.
After talking to a psychologist and showed him a test that he gave me where I was graded "autism likely," he straight up told me "you don't have it. We would have caught it earlier. Even if you are, you're already in college, it doesn't matter anymore." Honestly the guy needs to lose his license. He's the whole reason I haven't yet been able to get a formal diagnosis.
Try to find a psychologist who has experience or specializes in diagnosing autistic adults, and girls/women. Don’t give up, and believe in yourself! You know who you are 👍🏼 Other people (especially “professionals”) just need to be educated on it more, and throw out their old stereotypes.
Remind him why Asperger's is called the invisible disability! And diagnosis with support is important. But yeh, I've had the same experience with a doctor, very disheartening. Keep your chin up!
Sez Francis very interesting interview. I am also female on the Spectrum that also has Auditory Processing Disorder(APD). When you talk about your listing problem it sounds a lot like me in noisy rooms. Thank you for your prospective!
She speaks like me !!! I live in France and am 28 and wondering a lot about Autism, I know I have ADHD, but I've met a LOT of ADHD people...And they still manage to live their lives. I live secluded, extremely socially retracted, terrified of work and passionate about tattooing but the anxiety is such a Huge step back from concentrating since I've been told so many times that I'm good for nothing and also I get SO EXCITED when I'm drawing, it stop me from drawing, like I'd need to run a marathon at the same time... I never had an eventless school or work experience, I make everyone angry, I'm always, always, always overwhelmed by ANY emotional occurence. I always get told that : "tu devrais arrêter de te prendre la tête" (you should stop overthinking) WELL THANK YOU !! You've resolved 28years !!
Thanks for this collab. Love seeing more and more women/girls talking about autism because it's so underrespresented. My daughter has autism and people were surprised because they only "know" of boys/men having it.
I will actually write a super unpopular opinion here - I regret all the support I received as a child with a lot of different mental issues (I'm diagnosed with 20 including both low functioning autism and asperger's and I believe most of these are wrong). Due to spending the majority of my childhood with therapists trying to fix me, I was never able to reach my full potential. The minute I left all these people trying to fix me, I was finally able to succeed in all areas of my life, including professional, academic, and social.
Pronunciation. She has it. Seriously though, acting does help, a lot, but it's as much a curse as it's a blessing. The more you pass as an NT the more reluctant people around you are to believe that you're not, and when you do something wrong you get more backlash than you would've if you'd been 'weird' from the start. I've been called 'capricious', 'attention wh***', 'child throwing a tantrum' and the like enough times that I just stopped bothering to act around people. Mostly. There are still situations where it's inevitable, like a job interview.
I would have loved to have support throughout my school life, however I'm not sure the support that I needed the most could be given, or realistically how it could be applied. I was a good student, though I zoned out frequently and was called a "dreamer". What affected me the most in school was the bullying and the social issues. I struggled so much that I was suicidal by the time I was 12 and most of it occurred at times when a support worker would not have been around, including out of school hours. Awareness and acceptance of peers would have been most beneficial to my well-being so I think teaching tolerance, inclusiveness and acceptance of difference for school children in general needs to be worked in to the curriculum
Very interesting and well presented. I am a 63 year old female who was diagnosed at age 38. It is good to finally see more people talking about their experiences and to finally know that I am not a "freak who talks and thinks too fast to be sane" - that is a quote of what one teacher said about me when I was 8. Thank you for all the useful information too.
Personally, I choose to go undiagnosed and rarely tell anyone, Especially at work. People are dumb and prejudice and you can be really screwing yourself giving people ammunition to discriminate. It's a viciously competitive world, and if your like me, with no family, no friends, and little money, you need every advantage in life. This is the only way Can survive. As far as helping public Awareness: GOOD LUCK! Unfortunately. Mental illness is more the norm than the exception with the general population. I honestly think NT's share a different type of mental illness.
" It's a viciously competitive world, and if your like me, with no family, no friends, and little money, you need every advantage in life. " This is exactly why an autism spectrum diagnosis can help you in the workplace. It can help your workers union negotiate better workplace environments for neurodiversity, and it can help you negotiate with HR about things as simple as different lighting for your sensory issues. Even something as simple as a different desk lamp! From the training I've received, you don't HAVE to disclose to everyone. But you deserve to get the accommodations you need to be the best employee you can be. And my friends in my Adults On The Spectrum support group all agree - if someone is going to judge you for your needs, they can **** off. You don't have to say that to their faces, but you don't have to take their malice personally either. I'm being hypocritical - I'm still acutely aware that they will call this my weakness instead of workplace diversity, and I still view myself through that lens and judge myself harshly, knowing that they will too. But we are gaining very little by being brutal with ourselves in a world that is already very harsh.
This ☝️ (Original Comment) But also how would oneself know if they are autistic without a diagnosis :( Alot of people want proof and stuff to prove a point
I've told people I have autism when I was in a dyslexic school (bc I also have dyslexia) and they always told me "that's weird. Mostly boys get autism" which made me kinda hurt. Getting told that you shouldn't get it because of your gender does make me kinda feel bad that I was able to get it...
Don’t listen to other people go to see your doctor and ask for a referral. Thank you so much for the comment! Make sure you are subscribed and have the notifications turned on :).
I'm 60, and when I was young "only boys" got it. Then they realized girls got it, but it was still classic (nonverbal) autism. Then they had Aspergers, and I kept saying, "that's me! That's me!" but "girls don't get Aspergers." Even people with family members on the spectrum would tell me, "oh, you may have a little Sensory Processing Disorder, but you're not on the spectrum." I totally am. I haven't even bothered with a diagnosis because I have my coping strategies, and I'm cool with being the weird, annoying old lady that talks too much. Believe what *you* know. Nobody else lives inside your head.
As a girl with autism I want to thank you for making the videos you do. They are what helped me get diagnosed. Thanks so much, my life makes sense now and I’m at a really good place right now :)
Somehow, I have just found out I had aspergers a month ago or 2. Yet I was actually diagnosed with it when I was in around kindergarten. It is something to have aspergers kept somewhat a secret even to yourself. But when I did find out I had it, I was really relieved in a way since I was never good socially in general Your videos really helps me learn more about aspergers/ASD and on other people's experience with it, keep up the awesome work!
I love this video so much!!! I am really lucky that both me and one of my best friends have Asperger syndrome!! Him and I went to primary and are in secondary school together, and we have what we call “our logic” so it’s great to have someone that I relate to and we can have a laugh!!
Oh gosh, that part about getting told off for not remembering every single word that was spoken to me... Me TOO, so much... I need people to either write down the instructions, or allow me to ask for them to repeat it... also, I cant write when someone else is talking, so expecing me to write the instructions down while they are talking is asking me to do the impossible for me.. Even as I type, I have to pause the video while typing, as I will miss what is said while my focus is on typing. One word processing task at a time please, and please don't get upset if I ask you to repeat something that was spoken, as I can miss what is said if there is anything else around me making noise or something stimulates thoughts in my mind, or I simply need more time to process the new info, and I cant process the new info AND listen to more words at the same time... if only others were more understanding about how this works for me, or doesn't work. With the traditions of the world and society as they are, most of the time verbal instructions don't work well for me.
Green Roc we need written instructions and not too many at once. Lists are great that we can tick off as we go to see in black and white what we have accomplished
Also don’t expect us to multi task like an NT we are already multi tasking by manually performing what tasks you do automatically without even thinking while you are speaking to us
"Mixed up words" She has that struggle too? I always thought it was a medication I had taken a long time ago (was one of the side effects). I know I have said the wrong word as soon as I hear myself say it, but with how quick other people can be, they react in objection sooner than I can correct myself, and even when I do correct myself, sometimes they are so iron clad on what I "had" said, they wont accept my own correction of my own word... and sometimes, the thing I was trying to say gets derailed by the sudden conversation about not having said the correct word, and the previous topic can sometimes be lost and never picked up again (happened too much when talking to my mother). It can be so frustrating for me.
Green Roc written communication is much easier though if you’re given the appropriate time to collect your thoughts. Sometimes we may struggle orally but with writing we are poets and artists
Comments of people saying how soon they got in. I am sitting here like "why does it matter? I don't care." Can we just talk about how awesome the video is for once. I get that it makes people feel good but please can we for once not say who was first or not for one video?
Thanks for all the suggestions, I have to pass them along to my granddaughter! Sez:" You go girl!!" All the best! Thanks so much again Dan! Happy to see this video, there's much help for Autism through your videos! Happy for the collab!!
The content on your channel is top notch! I received my diagnosis later in life and the information here is so valuable in helping me to understand (and accept) myself.Thank you so much Dan!
awesome work girl. You did well for answering the questions and do agree with you in some parts you shared. We need to do more women coming in to share their experiences with Autism etc. Keep it up xx❤️💕👐
I'm going to get tested for autism pretty soon. Some of my teachers are boarding school (I'm 16) thinks I might have asd, and so dose my mom. lol. Been watching your videos in forever! Keep going dude.
My difficulties mostly relate to having conversations. Like any time I try to talk to people, after some awkward small talk my mind goes blank and I can't think of anything else to say. As a result, this has lead me to be that really quiet and shy girl for fear of being judged. I've tried to highlight this issue with a teacher but she just brushes it under the rug, and I don't think she truly understands the issue at all. Also, my mom is putting pressure on me to be social even though I possess NO ability to do so whatsoever. She wants me to have a million and one shallow friends whereas I want just one or two really good friends. Is there any way at all to improve my prospects at having conversations?
What you said was exactly happened to me. And everything you said describes me. And I was being hated on for being “anti-social”. But i can’t help It I was born that way. It’s just me. I acted like that since I was born. I don’t act “anti-social” on purpose. And my parents would talk about me saying how I don’t have many friends and tell everyone they know. Until I finally got myself a good friend group and that took a lot of effort. My mom got mad at me for being “anti-social”. Like what?! But I suspect that I have autism. I’ve been doing weeks of research I even took online tests and it says I likely have it. I wrote down everything about me that are signs of autism. And everything I wrote down sounds like someone who has autism.
What i did was ask someone a question and then strike up a convo. Or I’d complement them. I also pushed myself to talk to people in my class. But only in some classes cause some ppl I just don’t relate to and that’s ok. That’s how I met my friends was in class. That Really helped. I only have a small amount of energy and when that’s gone I’m just quite and I don’t want to speak. So I put airpods and listen to music to cancel all the noise out and it calms me down. So I try to talk to people while I still have energy.
So, something that I've had trouble with is a lot to do with discovering I am actually autistic and a self diagnosed aspie. One thing that's hard with support is when you don't have a mother figure or parent in place for support in these matters. I lost my mother 5 years ago to a horrible disease called ALS. The shock of stuck in my house unable to express how I felt while watching her get weaker and weaker every day scarred me. Since then I've felt this need to get out of my house to have fun to keep moving keep running, maybe from the loss. When you're left with only one parent who's a more strict male figure that doesn't quite get emotions as a father, well there's not the support i need. I could tell him about my issues in full analysis detail and he would just try to push me and deal with it his way. Females don't get seen as having issues because we're so good at hiding it. We have emotions on top of emotions we can't express it especially if we're one of those on the spectrum. I've found I can only get support from friends my age or adults that help support me for girl time. Transportation is a big issue too. I'm dependent on my family and I've not much knowledge of the outside world how things work, learning how to drive it causes great anxiety. I'm wanting to get out of the house but I'm terrified, and not much support or a mother type figure to lead me. My dad wouldn't see my issues as a real thing, he'd shrug it off. And I wouldn't get the transportation to go to consoling or the emotional and mental support I need.
Shannon Smith Hi Shannon; I’m sorry to hear about your Mum. I had friends and close relatives who had cancer so I can understand. Your Dad sounds like he needs to understand you more; I had a person who was like and it was usually because she was anxious about me. So what I did was that I had a heart to heart talk and explained how I felt and what we can achieve together. It’s still tricky though we’re getting there. Its worth while having a chat (even though it’s scary but that’s what makes you brave). Never give up in what you believe; and you’ll always have a lot of wonderful people who will help you on your journey. 🦋✨
Aspire World is one of my favourite TH-cam Channels! Dan, you give so much support and appreciation for the viewers. I am in Canada 🇨🇦 I’m an older female, omg I’m nearly 55, and late diagnosis has been a total bummer! I’m so glad I found your channel. You’re doing a really good job!
I'm going to check her channel out. It's Interesting to hear about how other females with autism experience things. I don't know really know any TH-camrs on the spectrum, just you, and offline I only know three people. Only one of them is a girl, so I haven't really heard much about this topic. From my experience awareness and support is fairly poor, so it can be very difficult sometimes.
Hi, Dan! Thank you and Thank you Sez Francis for a great job covering an important issue concerning autism in girls. To sum up, I totally relate to the experiences expressed here. Oh, I love Snoopy, Wallace & Gromit, Warner Brothers and Tom and Jerry. My favourite Marvel characters are Spiderman, DareDevil and Captain America.
I feel SO frustrated as an Aspie girl, because every time I think about it I identify my needs, and am reminded of the lack of support and means to meet them, so I tend to try to not think about it, and just continue masking
I seem to present so much of what is known to be typical asperger traits. Actually did a few online quizzes, ones provided by autism websites and scored way off the charts. Met a psychiatrist, who diagnosed me before having met with bpd and refused I meet a neuropsychologist and also totally dismissed my thinking I am on the spectrum. Defeated. 😞
Try to find a psychologist who has experience or specializes in diagnosing autistic adults, and girls/women. Don’t give up, and believe in yourself! You know who you are 👍🏼
Honestly I feel quite bizarre for being an autistic female. I tend to be quite extroverted and talkative with a wide array of topics I can discuss fluently. This means that a lot of advice isn't useful for me. What would you say the best methods for learning how to read body language and being a good judge of character are?
Dan, I absolutely love that you have a consistent opening introduction monologue, in every video - SO DAMN MUCH!!! As One who has worked in entertainment, since I was a teen - IT DRIVES ME ABSOLUTELY INSANE when TH-camrs don’t introduce themselves, first and foremost, and state the foundation of their channel and video. I find it incredibly rude, when they don’t. I mean, I’m not offended and it doesn’t make me mad, or anything; though, I simply think it lacks an incredible amount of professionalism, from my perspective.
Oh heck no to a career involving children! 👀 That would be impossible for me to do. What a nightmare to think about all the ways constant exposure to children would wreck my nervous system! I remember being pressured to go into nursing. It was a horrible suggestion. I was lucky enough to somehow have awareness that a career in nursing would be a disaster for me even if I couldn’t say WHY at the time. I resented being treated like I had some sort of disappointing flaw over my refusal of the pressure to go into nursing. I settled on a clinical lab science degree at end of community college. I struggled a lot with feeling out on my own what career would be my best fit. It was really difficult for me to decide. I lucked out and love what I chose at the eleventh hour. It often has a nightshift bonus opportunity to work ALONE in the small hospitals. I think better career counseling in HS years would be an awesome improvement if it can evolve to consider the needs and differences of nuero divergent types. Just paying attention to the sensory needs of an individual and discussing how different careers would affect that person’s nervous system and wether they can realistically tolerate the working environments would be useful. I hated stumbling around blind trying to pick. I feel horrible for anyone that got pushed or encouraged into a degree in a field that isn’t compatible with their non negotiable needs that will never change. No shame analysis of appropriate career options should exist. The whole “do what makes you happy” shit is too vague. Not useful. How about be cautious to avoid careers that might make someone miserable because of sensory/sensitivity issues they can’t help or change? Consider options that are compatible with personality and nervous system’s needs.
Thanks for this vid both of you. I'm 46 and struggling right now w major changes in ownership at work. My previous teammate is now my boss. He is a naturally succinct communicator. I am not. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells, I can't trust he wont fire me for some reason yet he is never available to talk about this new personal understanding of how I best function on the job. I cant afford to loose my job yet Im burning out working with someone who I find impossible and overwhelmingly frustrating to deal with. Its made the last 10 years of work more and more toxic. I'm not one to quit and my stubborn side refuses to quit something iIm very good at. I've been looking for local resources but so far its all aimed at severely affected children, not a somewhat functional adult woman. Anyone know of a contact in the midwestern/northern usa?
just thandie hi just thandie I’m sorry you are going this at the moment. I know another friend who is going through the same thing. It is tricky to find the right resources for this but it’s never too late to give up. I’m not an expect in US law but (if this helps), I found that the two laws that are worth looking at are the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Civil Rights Act of 1991. These are the things I can find but I hope 🤞 these resources help. I hope your boss realises what he’s putting up with; you don’t deserve to be treated like that in the workplace. 🦋✨
When I mentioned to my close friend that I suspect I am on the spectrum, she said, "I don't believe in labels". This upset me a bit as it took me a lot to get to that idea, like my 52 years of struggling in many ways. Oh my word, I had to work in the storeroom behind the classroom in grade 1. Teacher despised me. Anyhow, away from the rest, I finished first.
I feel so bad for females with autism. I wasn't diagnosed until 39, so I can really empathize with all of the serially misunderstood and misdiagnosed women out there. Male TH-camrs were so incredible when I was still in the self diagnosis stage of research, but for me, female TH-camrs have done the best job of helping me navigate all of the ramifications and emotions of a late in life ASD diagnosis. ..and it was a female who finally convinced me that I should look into whether or not I'm on the spectrum in the first place. I'm kind of atypical and mask very well, so I've always been told "Oh, you can't be autistic because _____". I have lots of empathy and love sarcasm, so I can't poooooooooossibly be autistc. :/ I went through 35+ years of feeling like a broken person because my stupid "medical professionals" didn't understand how the spectrum works. I feel like females go through this crap all the time too - and I'm really thankful for all of the female TH-camrs who have helped me understand myself better in that aspect. I hope that women and girls start getting the help and recognition they need now that we're all starting to understand the spectrum better. I had no idea about the struggle they have to deal with until fairly recently. From what I've learned so far, it seems that the testing and diagnostic protocols for females need some major F-ing overhauls.
I have an eye syndrome where autism is a symptom of it. I would really like to go and see weather I’m autistic but my Nan doesn’t want me to as she’s worried I’d be labelling myself. But I do think that some of my behaviour traits point to the fact that I might have autism.
I have noticed a trend towards when telling one of one's autism that adult men and women will respond we're all a little on the spectrum or real little all autistic. Has anyone else experience this?
Good question, I created this store by step video guide. th-cam.com/video/ybhtwsO_4QM/w-d-xo.html part 1. Thank you so much for the comment! Please subscribe to my channel to see more videos from me :).
The Aspie World thank you, I'm subscribed. I know this is strange, I'm 53, and the more I hear different symptoms of Autism/aspergers, sometimes I wonder about myself, especially thinkin back to when I was a child. I don't like my primary doctor, and at the moment, can't find a new one. I'm just super curious and am in no way diagnosing myself. I just see some similarities.
Sherry Krook psychological testing it takes a couple of hrs and you write answers to a series of questions taking your time. You get answers on the spot and you get follow up appointments to ask questions. This has to be done with a clinical psychologist who specialises in autism spectrum disorders in adults and children. It makes the world of difference.
Yes, Hi Dan, Ive commented before, Im still going through testing, bc im female Dr's tent to shrug it off bc its more in males. Either the Dr's aren't really aware of the update that females can have Aspergers, thatvwe are not amused to this disorder or they are lazy & do not want to do the testing...IDK Thats my opinion. Anyway, I could go on & on but Ill get back on track. I do relate to these topics Such as noise, loud rooms trying to retain what was said, I can retain some things but not other, trouble learning. I to had to sit at in the front of the class room so i wouldn't be distracted. I also do mix up my words so bear with me. I know what i want to say but does not come out that way, which often gets me in trouble. I have Dyslexia myself and I realize it, so I always double check my Spelling thank goodness for spell check and I double check especially my numbers, i often reverse them. I like math and I do a lot of counting of things lol Do you know how many times i had to double check this comment...? I could have sent it an hour ago. 🤦♀️ So, yes I do relate & have many common traits. This was a good video. I also liked the 1st comment you read at the beginning of this video (Sorry, I can't go back to see what you read or it will disregard this comment... I don't want that to happen) Along with hypersensitive noises, to smells touch... I also was always been accused of lying due to the fact I don't look ppl in the eyes. Has that been an issue for anyone? Thats one thing i know is im as honest as they come. So I was Just curious. Thanks
*amuned Not amused OMG🤦♀️ I'm sure this is amusing. Ok, there is probably more mistakes but I trust you know what I'm talking about & what word should be there.😊
Gwen Scott so being left handed people whow are lefties look right when trying to remember something, for me along with not looking people in the eye looking right also makes people think I'm lying.
@@shannonsmith924 wow that's interesting I didn't know that. Don't you just hate when ppl assume that, to me its just a natural thing for me not to look at someone, i do catch myself then I just look at their mouth & occasional glance at their eyes, its a hard thing for me, is it for you as well?
Best thing for anxiety is exercise! Nothing compares. Anxious? do 50 push ups, and 100 sit ups( you could do them at work) i guarantee your anxiety will be eased. Problem is that people are lazy, Fat slugs who don want to do nothing but complain. Anxiety? Stay away from caffeine, alcohol, high fructose corn syrup, and make sure you eat well and regularly. Personally, I don't get hungry, just anxious.
I've watched a lot of your video's, I find them very interesting. I have just one question. on the intro to all your videos, you real of the list of things and you say you have aspergers, but due to inconsistencies in the diagnostic criteria they no longer diagnose it (since 2013). Now its under the unbrella of asd, so are you going to update your intro to that?
@@TheAspieWorld Cheers Dude. I'm in my 40s and waiting for my assesment! I have mixed feeling about it. On one hand it would make sense of my life, but on the other i may feel damaged goods if that makes any sense? Got refered a couple of year ago. It's one big head f@#k at the moment not having the answer! Thanks for the reply
Hi, my name is Jane Vold. I have Aspergers disorder. I am also an OCD and I am 23 years old and just been diagnosed with autism. I wanted know how old were you when you were diagnosed.
Are there functional benefits to getting an ASD diagnosis as an adult? For example, if I am being treated by various doctors for the symptoms/traits, but not under the umbrella of an ASD Dx, would it be more helpful to pursue a diagnosis? My twin boys both have been diagnosed as being on the spectrum as children, and as a result they’ve had various therapies to help them learn to cope in a neurotypical world. It has become obvious to my family that I exhibited many of the same behaviors, etc., as a child, but I’ve learned to “mask” effectively over the years. Still there are other issues, that have little to do with the perceptions of others, that I struggle with. Are there helpful treatments available to those with a diagnosis, that I am unable to get by seeing different doctors who treat each issue separately?
This girl reminds me of what my mom often says to me. My mom says that my brain goes too fast and that she has a hard time keeping up with what I'm talking about. :P Igh! I tried drama club when I was about 10. It was a horrifying experience. For one, I was required to touch people's faces with my eyes closed, and vice versa, and I've never been able to do pretend. I only know how to be me, honest and in the moment. My little sister tried to teach me to play barbie's when we were little, but she eventually gave up and I ended up as a stylist and a dresser, which I was more than happy to do :P My sister always tried to include me and explained my situation to her friends if needed, and we're still very close today.
I'm 60, so from my experience, a diagnosis for males is a welcome explanation, but for women or girls, many seem to see autism differences as an invitation for abuse, judgement and being seen as having character defects.
Hi , does anyone have a long list with the most common trigger (women). I have to write down why i think i have aspergers. That would make that easier.
Some girls/women with verbal autism (I'm confused now about how to name it...Aspergers...) say that they had trouble being seen as autistic because girls tend to be pleasers; they "mask" more, because girls either naturally or by conditioning, want to fit in, so they study people to figure out how to seem typical, and they learn to *act* typical, and hold off their stims in public. I still don't have a diagnosis, but I can say that as a child (and now) I was more likely to be seen as annoying than neurologically different. But I have done most of the things. I "fidget," which is basically lowkey stimming; I either study something intensely or ignore it completely; I seem indifferent at times to others' needs; I overexplain; I have sensory issues; I don't like random touch (although if I expect it, it's ok;) I'm very routine dependent. I really dislike large shopping establishments, but that's a sensory, too-many-humans thing. But I do know how to socialize. I get jokes. I pay compliments. I grit my teeth in brightly lighted, noisy places, and smile and stay calm. Then I go home and stim. Yes, I stim. I've even caught myself flapping, and realized I've always done it in private, I just never thought of it as flapping....
This was a really hard video to listen to. It felt too chaotic for me, anyway. I would love something more recent and maybe w some of the newer youtubers, women diagnosed later in life. Thx!
I work out of town . I'm in a hotel 6 days aweek. My roommate has asperger. . Just an amazing friend and Co worker . But last week he got in a felony car reck. He was scared and run . I've never experienced anyone like this. Weres the best place to learn about this. It like neopolin dynamite on Crack.

Thank you so much for the comment! Make sure you are subscribed and have the notifications turned on :).
I have really bad anxiety and am bipolar on top of suspected Autism.
Yes^^^
After talking to a psychologist and showed him a test that he gave me where I was graded "autism likely," he straight up told me "you don't have it. We would have caught it earlier. Even if you are, you're already in college, it doesn't matter anymore."
Honestly the guy needs to lose his license.
Katherine Montgomery go to a clinical psychologist who specialises in autism in adults and especially women it makes all the difference
Katherine Montgomery def get a second opinion. You deserve to know the truth 💛
@@SirNancelot I got a second opinion about a month ago and was diagnosed! Im finally getting the help I need and it feels great!!

Sez Francis you're awesome and happy woman international woman day! ✨✨🌹😊😊

This made a ton of sense to me. After all, trying to fix something means it’s being viewed as a problem. 🤔
Thanks a million for the videos on women with autism, really underrepresented topic, much appreciated

I could have learnt quicker with a positive peer group around at any time in my 34 years .
Oh that’s interesting. Thank you so much for the comment! Make sure you are subscribed and have the notifications turned on :).
I agree.

But also how would oneself know if they are autistic without a diagnosis :(
Alot of people want proof and stuff to prove a point
I've told people I have autism when I was in a dyslexic school (bc I also have dyslexia) and they always told me "that's weird. Mostly boys get autism" which made me kinda hurt. Getting told that you shouldn't get it because of your gender does make me kinda feel bad that I was able to get it...

I'm 60, and when I was young "only boys" got it. Then they realized girls got it, but it was still classic (nonverbal) autism. Then they had Aspergers, and I kept saying, "that's me! That's me!" but "girls don't get Aspergers." Even people with family members on the spectrum would tell me, "oh, you may have a little Sensory Processing Disorder, but you're not on the spectrum."
I totally am. I haven't even bothered with a diagnosis because I have my coping strategies, and I'm cool with being the weird, annoying old lady that talks too much. Believe what *you* know. Nobody else lives inside your head.
Why do u wanna be diagnosed?

Somehow, I have just found out I had aspergers a month ago or 2. Yet I was actually diagnosed with it when I was in around kindergarten. It is something to have aspergers kept somewhat a secret even to yourself. But when I did find out I had it, I was really relieved in a way since I was never good socially in general
Your videos really helps me learn more about aspergers/ASD and on other people's experience with it, keep up the awesome work!

✌🏼
Green Roc we need written instructions and not too many at once. Lists are great that we can tick off as we go to see in black and white what we have accomplished
Also don’t expect us to multi task like an NT we are already multi tasking by manually performing what tasks you do automatically without even thinking while you are speaking to us
Green Roc verbal instructions don’t work well for many of us, we don’t always process everything through the auditory channel
Yes me to actually takes a while to edit a video.

Guys, this was a brilliant video that I've learned so much from! You're both awesome!! Thank you so much for being informative and candid! :-)

I have no friends because of my autism, where I live everyone thinks I’m broken so they ignore me all the time. :(
I am sorry 😞
I feel SO frustrated as an Aspie girl, because every time I think about it I identify my needs, and am reminded of the lack of support and means to meet them, so I tend to try to not think about it, and just continue masking
I seem to present so much of what is known to be typical asperger traits. Actually did a few online quizzes, ones provided by autism websites and scored way off the charts. Met a psychiatrist, who diagnosed me before having met with bpd and refused I meet a neuropsychologist and also totally dismissed my thinking I am on the spectrum. Defeated. 😞
I'm sorry you've faced so much struggle in getting diagnosed! Just keep trying and eventually you will be heard

I went through 35+ years of feeling like a broken person because my stupid "medical professionals" didn't understand how the spectrum works.

Sherry Krook psychological testing it takes a couple of hrs and you write answers to a series of questions taking your time. You get answers on the spot and you get follow up appointments to ask questions. This has to be done with a clinical psychologist who specialises in autism spectrum disorders in adults and children. It makes the world of difference.
Yes, Hi Dan,
Ive commented before,
Im still going through testing, bc im female Dr's tent to shrug it off bc its more in males. Either the Dr's aren't really aware of the update that females can have Aspergers, thatvwe are not amused to this disorder or they are lazy & do not want to do the testing...IDK Thats my opinion.
Anyway, I could go on & on but Ill get back on track.

Such as noise, loud rooms trying to retain what was said, I can retain some things but not other, trouble learning.
I like math and I do a lot of counting of things lol
Do you know how many times i had to double check this comment...?
I could have sent it an hour ago. 🤦♀️
So, yes I do relate & have many common traits.
This was a good video.
I also liked the 1st comment you read at the beginning of this video
(Sorry, I can't go back to see what you read or it will disregard this comment... I don't want that to happen)
Along with hypersensitive noises, to smells touch...
I also was always been accused of lying due to the fact I don't look ppl in the eyes.
Has that been an issue for anyone?
Thats one thing i know is im as honest as they come.
So I was Just curious.
Thanks
Oops, missed one...

Hi Daniel how are you? it's almost 10 in the morning and where you live it's 6:00 Daniel tomorrow we change our clocks forward.
My daughter is 3 and I already think she may be autistic and ADHD so I hope she gets relevant testing at some point for hers and our sake.

OMG JUST NOTICED THE LOST MERCH!

That's not usually true but ok
Yeah!! Thank you so much for the comment!

Hey dude yeah for sure, check out my latest videos I mention this labelling change and also I say autism
Question about the gumis, how often can you take them and do you ship to the US?
Yes they do and you take one a day.
@@TheAspieWorld I might look into this next month then.
Love the video Dan
Edit:❤❤
Thank you!!
This girl reminds me of what my mom often says to me. My mom says that my brain goes too fast and that she has a hard time keeping up with what I'm talking about. :P
Igh! I tried drama club when I was about 10. It was a horrifying experience. For one, I was required to touch people's faces with my eyes closed, and vice versa, and I've never been able to do pretend. I only know how to be me, honest and in the moment. My little sister tried to teach me to play barbie's when we were little, but she eventually gave up and I ended up as a stylist and a dresser, which I was more than happy to do :P
My sister always tried to include me and explained my situation to her friends if needed, and we're still very close today.

I'm 60, so from my experience, a diagnosis for males is a welcome explanation, but for women or girls, many seem to see autism differences as an invitation for abuse, judgement and being seen as having character defects.
Thank you this is helpful.
love you bunches dan you are amazing and awesome

Hi , does anyone have a long list with the most common trigger (women). I have to write down why i think i have aspergers. That would make that easier.
I have a whole list
I've even caught myself flapping, and realized I've always done it in private, I just never thought of it as flapping....
wish you'd post Canadian links
You have a troll doll!I collect troll dolls and have 81!
^w^ I love this ☺️❤️
Yay!!
She seems cool
Why do ppl wanna be diagnosed??? I don't get it???!!!
So that they're more aware about how to cope with it? It has benefits
This was a really hard video to listen to. It felt too chaotic for me, anyway. I would love something more recent and maybe w some of the newer youtubers, women diagnosed later in life. Thx!
Weekly videos? More like daily?
Is that not good??

She talks a lot but doesnt say much. I have this problem at times.
Why r ppl proud to admit it??
So they can show people that it's not inherently a bad thing, and can also act as role models for others with it if they want to be.
why not?
