Some sounds of the Waldorf Microwave XT Keyboard. All sounds programmed by Artyom R (fka Veell) Subscribe to my new channel: go.raveny.net/... - that's my new solo project.
Folks, this synth doesn't sound very analog because it's a digital wavetable synth. You want analog, buy an Alesis Andromeda, or Prophet-5 for that matter. One may argue that digital is no different than a computer, but this synth's real power is in the fact it has 40 knobs and 18 buttons, this allows for immediate interaction with the instrument for both expressive playing, and quick custom programming. That's why hardware synths like this are coveted by many synthesists.
thanks for this video. i just bought one, coming from the UK-mainly from seeing this. i was seriously thinking of an OB12, but when i saw this-the lightbulb went off. -wavetables, wOOhOO ! :-)
the Microwave 2 or XT sound a lot better than the Blofeld, the D/A is so much better and the rev 3 MW2 and XT have some very nice sounding effects too, all in all the best synth I have ever owned...and I have owned and used quite a few!
Totally agree. Have a Blofeld, sounds narrow. Something is wrong with the stereo image; Perhaps it are the DACs, who knows... Not happy with the Blofeld. will probably sell it in favor of an MW2Xt.
I recently purchased a Microwave II for what a Blofeld desktop goes for. Really happy about my decision to go with the MWII instead. Much more stable synth.
It's not the converters... I've a Microwave XT, but also a Microwave PC, and that have S/Pdif outs, and it sounds equally beautiful thru any converter I connect it to, and even when I record directly to a daw digitally.
@damienmmm just to answer the question... the start of the video does sound like a lot of the underground resistance sorta outta space sound, just remember dude.. its the proggramer not the synth. so yeah that synth would do the job well. but you gotta know how to get the sound outta the synth if you get me bro..
@leerique - I don't know that this instrument needs to sound very analog. To paraphrase John Foxx of Ultravox, I believe it's going to be a challenge of today's generation to learn to understand and program digital so it sounds good...as digital. Not just as VA. Nice demo, btw.
@leerique Have you used it's wavetable envelopes and user wavetables? ;) Or those modifiers which look like mathematical formulas +, -, *, /, XOR, OR, AND, S&H, ramp, switch, abs value, min value, max value, lag proc., diff. etc..? I would say that this thing could be complex..it just depends on user if using all of it's possibilities. Gladly it can produce marvellous sounds with just subset of its parameters. =P
01 : 57..... so deep bass-beautifull!! ... i wonder about virus user's, hahaha! btw i own a Q , its more trippy i think but ths becomes a quality synth also* thanx for posting this.
Where can I get this synth? What would be its compatibility with a DAW like logic? Also, does it have XLR compatibility??? Thanks. Also, nice keyboard skills. Wish I had learned those somewhere :P
How do you mean? It has midi in and audio out (which isn't XLR btw, i've never seen a synth with XLR outs) You plug it into your midi interface and then plug the outs into your audio ins.
Very fluid and spacey synth.
I've had two Xtk's in the past, looks like it's a target for the studio again! Love the video! :)
Excellent eargasmic retrofuture session
fantastic programming.. one of the best XT demos on the net.. my favorite digital synth bar none.
One of the best sounding synths out there... BEAUTIFUL :)
Incredible sounding synth. Glad I still have mine :)
Nice job, very creative programming. The XT has a great sound and lot of knobs for tweeking. One of Waldorf best synth.
5:34 - 6:05 I would listen this drone forever
Gorgeous sounds. No other synth can touch it.
I gotta tell you man, this vid convinced me to get one, currently waiting for it. Those patches are solid.

Gr8 demo.. BTW your band sounds epic!
Very Cool Demo!!!! A++++++++
I still have yet to even sea one of these in real life. And if I did, I wouldn't stop playing with it.
I had a excellent condition XTK a few years back and sold it. I regret to this day. I'll prob get a XT soon though.
Most amazing range of sounds I've heard in a single synth demo.
I've hire you if I could ^_^.

Wow someone who knows how to program their synth!
Veeeeeeeeeeeery well done !!!!!!!
Awesome sounds my friend...always wanted an XTk

It's also a heck of a lot easier to program, thanks to all that knobs. Something lost on a lot of people.

The 'modern' PPG. Even the newer Waldorf M doesn't come close...
4:00 sounds like it could be an autechre song!

hi, very niice sounds!!!
Reminds me a lot os my Waldorf Q.

@benyamin tiegh ....well the filter is v.a.
5:35 ...!
@orientalflux who gives a fucking shit if it sounds analog?.. this is a digital wavetable synth and has no intention on sounding "analog".
Hey, is there a place you can get more wavetables for the XTk? Thanks
Well it's a digital synth and it isn't a virtual analog either..
10
lol
Lush filters on this Waldorf..
err... who cares? if it's not analog?
