I found the gladiator comparison needlessly confusing. I don't need to know how important a belt is to a gladiator if you're talking about the theme. Tell me more about why the theme is important.

What’s funny is I think he had a much better metaphor (cars), but he wanted to have this “battling/fighting” metaphor and so used a gladiator - which is maybe the worst metaphor ever since gladiators never had consistent armor. They sometimes even fought naked. 😂

It does definitely look like the MF Doom mask. They were probably inspired by that scene from The Gladiator.

I did a quick search and found that MF Doom altered his mask to mimic the mask used in Gladiator. Saw that note a few different places, so it seems likely... or at least plausible.

Would the 9 points be the same for a screenplay with two protagonists or must something be changed?

I always ask the following questions before outlining the story:
    Who is the protagonist?
    What is their goal?
    Why do they need it?
Who/what is standing in their way?
What are the consequences if they don't achieve their goal?
Where does the story take place?
    Who's the antagonist?
    What is their goal?
    Why do they need it?
    What's standing in their way?
What are the consequences if they don't achieve their goal?

What is their goal? Survive until death arrives
Why do they need it? It is nice to be alive as long as possible
Who/what is standing in their way? Lack of skills and luck
What are the consequences if they don't achieve their goal? They die sooner than later
Where does the story take place? Building
Who's the antagonist? No one specific, but sometimes people sacrifice others to prolong their life.

A model is a model. The problem with all of them is they mix story and storytelling elements. And if you want to make a go of the screenwriting thing, you have to be able to decipher between the two, or it will take you too long to learn how to decipher industry notes and, more importantly, take you too long to learn how to identify problems in your own scripts and know how to resolve them. If anyone just follows a model and don't know why things work the way they do, they just toss up their hands and think, "Well, I followed the model, so it should be working... I guess everyone else just doesn't get my script." But 99 times out of 100 the story is broken.

Greaves ARE shin guards. What your gladiator needs is arm guards. Must be built like Popeye.
That time and place are the greaves is a bit of a stretch. The belt / theme is a bit underdone. For example, my story is an exploration of how different people react to foreign cultures, which is what ties everything together. Within that are lesser themes like escaping danger, finding acceptance in a new community and it is these latter conflicts that will probably end up on the cover, but the resolution is not the solution to these two conflicts, but the realisation that the power to resolve them lies within, not something to be awarded like a medal. And I am not hearing anything that complex in your exposition.

I’ve read “Save the cat” and Snyder actually explains very well all the elements in a detailed way. Your intro was a very good hook but at midpoint started to fall all apart. I think comparing two stories: a fail and a win would be more informative to understand the 9 elements.
