    Thank you Pear for the clear explanation! I have just one remark. It would have been nice if you had included sentences with เดียวกัน as well. Just to show that there is another usage.

    I have a question about when using it as a question...
    If you want to say “do you want to go eat together?”
    Would you say
    ไปกินข้าวด้วยกันไหมคะ
    Or
    ไปกินข้าวกันไหมคะ

    • @ThaiwithMod
      @ThaiwithMod  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both sentences are correct. The second way ไปกินข้าวกันไหมคะ is more casual. :)

    Kruu, how will you say "let's help each other" in thai? Do we need to repeat gan twice? Like chuai gan gan? Hehe😅 thanks in advance.

    • @airacheking
      @airacheking 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I asked a native Thai your question and the reply I got was you never repeat กัน /gan/ which would look like this in writing กันๆ, instead you could simply say ช่วยกัน /chuai gan/ for “let’s help each other”

    • @airacheking
      @airacheking 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In general if you want to just say that you do something with someone else and that activity doesn’t require a second party you will use ด้วยกัน and to change that same phrase into a command of “Let’s” you just drop the ด้วย and only say กัน. The reason for this is because it doesn’t actually mean “let’s” but we can translate it that way since it still literally means together, where maybe it is easier to see ด้วยกัน as meaning with each other. If you say “we go out with each other ออกไปด้วยกัน” versus “go out together ออกไปกัน” one feels more like a command than the other, we can interpret it correctly into English therefore as “Let’s go out together”. I hope this helps!

      กัน adverb verb suffix to say Perform the action together by two or more people.

  • @franek1643

    Good lesson.
    How can I say this: "Let's cook together! "
    Hm, can I use gan and duaygan in one sentence?

    • @ThaiwithMod
      @ThaiwithMod  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you make a suggestion to someone to do something together, the structure "verb + กัน/gan/" is enough as it already implies that you will do it together. :)

    I don't think this is correct.
    Gan in second meaning is the short form for Duay Gan. 'invitation' is 'ter' in Thai and not 'Gan'.
    Let us is 'do together' and not invitation. Let's get out of her is not an invitation . Let is allow or permit.

    gin gan = eat each other,
    jub gan = kiss each other
    ;)

  • @fwwryh7862
    @fwwryh7862 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Gan is more like 'together'. Eat together. Share together. Play together. We don't 'play each other'. or 'watch a movie each other'.
    Duay gan is more like also.

  • @StephenRomary

    isn't "gan" also used to create a noun from another word? example:การตลาด So when we hear Thai speakers we must understand a fifth use of "gan" .... ???
