I've been pleasantly surprised by this show. Not everything works for me as well, but I like enough to look pass those elements. I agree with you, a separate series about the parents would have been great. I do like that there seems to be fans of the original show and books behind the show. I hope it sticks the landing when the next episodes come out. I think an overall review would be better, but wouldnt be upset with episode breakdowns either.

I personally really like this show. The only things I would personally change is to handle it more like Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated, where the show mainly focuses on the goosebumps creatures and hints toward the overarching story at the end of each episode. Also there’s a bit too much teen drama, but that’s more of a nitpick. As I said, my only real issue is that there’s not enough focus on the monsters.
Haha ironically, thanks for mentioning the ghost island season of are you afraid of the dark. Didn’t know that final 3rd season of the revival existed until your video. Since I have finished this Goosebumps revival, I’m gonna watch Ghost Island starting tomorrow
I want a take on "Attack of the Mutant", but I know that's not going to happen. That story has NEVER been revisisted outside of the PC game and the tv show. Slappy gets brought back a million times, but not the Masked Mutant. :(

I found the new show to be extremely boring and I couldn’t get past episode 2. I found that the episodes are a little too long. Trying to stretch 20 minutes of material into a 39 to 45 minute episode might explain why I was snoozing 😴 towards the end of the second episode. The intro is….. Well what intro? That generic/ bland copy and paste ink blot of the Goosebumps logo doesn’t qualify as a Goosebumps intro in my book. It didn’t give me the Goosebumps vibe in the slightest. I think Disney wanted a Stranger Things, so they had Sony create one for them and used the Goosebumps name to draw in more attention and play on the heartstrings/ nostalgia of the older crowd as well. But yea…. Maybe next time I’m glad you enjoyed it tho.

I love AYAOTD (including the 2nd reboot), and I also love goosebumps (including the movies as well)....When I heard Disney was going to make a goosebump show, I was a bit nervous, they gonna ruin one of my favorite franchise. When the first 5 episodes premiered I was pretty much disappointed, a lot of that mostly came from the tone of the show reminded me of either Netflix's Fear Street trilogy or the Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark movie. So with this show there wasn't anything about it to stick out from the rest, which I do find it a bit ironic because the two IPs I listed were only made because of the popularity of the first Goosebumps movie. So call this a rare example of what was once the trend setter became the trend follower. As for episode 6, it was definitely an improvement. I found Slappy's portrayal in it to be the highlight of the episode, he kinda reminded me of Sideshow Bob in terms of vocal performance. So overall for the time being I find the show to be "meh" so far, hoping they will eventually give an actual explanation for why the kid from 1993 die with a (to use a praise Doug Walker used) "Casper the friendly explosion".
It does feel like it's emulating one of those types of shows doens't it? Like seriously, I don't mind Goosebumps having a darker tone, but this was written not like Goosebumps at all. And yeah, Justin Long is just having a blast during all this, it's infectious.
I really don't blame Tamara for trying to move on from TH-cam honestly. The underlying longterm shit-show is starting to kick through the translucent tarp TH-cam put up, to try and save face, after being exposed time and time again for playing favorites and doing as the sponsors tell them the past decade or so.
Sorry Walter, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you. This show is nothing like Goosebumps, this is generic high school teen horror that has things from Goosebumps. At least the movies tried to be more in spirit to Goosebumps with the somewhat comic and over the top scary stuff, but the show just feels lacking and clearly was written to be as generic and pandering to what old people think Gen-X folks like. I'm not saying Goosebumps can't work with a darker tone, but everything done just rubs me the wrong way.
...Have you ever read a goosebumps book? Have you ever seen the original series? 90% of both are "generic school children horror". I changed it away from "high school" because goosebumps was never meant to try and scare anyone over the age of 13. This was middle school horror at best dude. I suggest you go re-read some of the books and re-watch some of the original series. Because most of it is completely mediocre. Practically phoned in.

Lukas is the only person I like in the show. Maybe Isiah’s dad and Mr. Bratt, but Mr. Bratt is ruined by literally every character except for Lukas having an annoying version of his personality. Not really good screenplay if I’m honest, and Lukas deserves a better girl, no offense. But something about the show is hooking, gotta give it that. Maybe it’s just Lukas
If I'm being brutally honest, I think it says more about a fan base than it does a show when people solely won't watch a reboot because "the theme isn't the same!" I love the goosebumps theme. There are so many sleepovers I remember being creeped out by best friend Derricks VHS copy of Werewolf of Fever Swamp. Some of my favorite childhood memories since my mother had a blanket ban on Yu-Gi-Oh, Goosebumps, and Power Rangers. Even so, lacking a theme isn't a reason to skip a show. It let's the new show develop it's own identity. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the final episode opens or closes with it somehow or works it into the show

it's not bad but the casting is terrible. they all look like adults but everyone is pretending they're teens and it's distracting
