Another brand showcase where i'm on my first pair. It's always difficult to add the value you're looking for in a brand when i only have one. This is part of the process however of deciding the brands I'll acquire three shoes in.
So far the brands with only one are:
    Mezlan
    Löf and Tung
    Barbanera
    Cru Non Pareil
    Paraboot
    CNES (another arriving shortly)
    Fugashin
    Barker
    Gordon JimJun
    Acme
    Bruno Magli
    Cobbler Union
    Cheaney
    Michael Darren (another arriving shortly)
Vass (though i have an Ascot Kaan also lasted and welted by Vass)
Yeossal (i have three, but one is a Meccariello and the other unknown Italian brand vs Yeossal's handwelted line)
Heinrich Dinkelacker (though i've had another that i sold)
J Fitzpatrick (though I've had 2 others that i sold)
Just arrived or coming shortly with no Brand Showcase Videos:
    Corthay
    Aubercy
    Vahtia
    Norman Vilalta
    Ichigo Ichie
    Francis Waplinger

Another excellent episode, thanks. You have really captured the essence and unique skills of the Vass shoemakers. They have significant skills selectively seen in high end footwear.

I have the same shoe. Vass on sale is the best value on the market. Paid $265 and that included hand construction, lasted trees and JR soles. I wouldn’t strip Vass shoes to add patina. The leather appears to be “glazed” in the sense of being rolled to a compact semi-glossy consistency. (Like u also see with museum calf). Better to just overlay a darker polish than potentially damage surface with acetone.

I love the ethos of this brand: robust, handlasted shoes. By all accounts, it seems that Vass secure the highest quality leathers in this price range.

they're obviously very well-made but maybe a tad too utilitarian for the average European taste. I'm not saying they should be fancier, I'm all for minimalistic design, but perhaps if they were a touch more refined, more "Italian" as it were, they'd resonate with more people. Flat wax laces in slightly darker brown would also help and would be more fitting to a high end shoe in my view. I take it this is Vass's F last, which may not look super elegant if you have smaller feet like me, I'm size 41.5, 8.5 US, especially if you wear pants with traditionally sized openings and a half-break, in that case slightly more elongated lasts tend to produce more proportional looks. Excellent content at any rate, liked and subbed.

What is the SPI for Vass?

On the sole. 2.5 per cm or 6 per inch. Ok, but hardly impressive. Same as Meermin machine made.
