Good Lord, this is so profoundly beautiful. Kenny Barron is really so artistic and so professional. This is good for my head. I'm a nicer guy when I hear this. I feel grateful to this guy! ...and, of course, to Strayhorn/Ellington. I hear these songs as gifts to us jazz fans. Thank you Thank you!
0:00 - Lotus Blossom + 1:29 - A Flower Is a Lovesome Thing + 2:56 - Melancholia + 4:33 - The Star-Crossed Lovers. The Barron plays The Duke and Swee Pea so beautifully and just flows so seamlessly from piece to piece. A great upload. Thank you!
i know Im asking randomly but does any of you know a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost my account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
The always amazing Kenny Barron. He's so generous in his music and in his person. He shared co-writer rights with me for the lyrics to: Sunshower, Our version Morning Sunshine. Thanks Kenny Barron - great song. I'm honored. www.reverbnation.com/gracetestani/song/14243972-morning-sunshower
Happy Birthday Gran Maestro Kenneth Baron. (Get your act together TH-cam.) Let us not forget that "A Flower is a Lovesome Thing" the second piece is a Billy Strayhorn composition. Star Crossed Lovers was written by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. Lotus Blossom was written by Billy Strayhorn. I love Duke Ellington but to many of us give him credit for William Strayhorn's compositions.
No, "Star-Crossed Lovers" was also composed by Billy Strayhorn as part of a suite he was working on with Duke. ALL of the tunes in this grouping were composed by Billy Strayhorn. However, I don't think Duke was trying to steal anything from Strayhorn. Duke was a natural promoter and a gifted showman who truly loved what Strayhorn had created. Strayhorn had no problem with Duke's taking these songs and running forward with them.
Kenny Barron's version is fine, but I'm reminded of how beautifully these pieces were played by the great Tommy Flanagan and nothing here comes near that.

Thank you! These tunes are genius but they're not often heard. I don't know them but I will now!
Lovely.
🙌
This was for me a breath taking performance by a pianist at the top of his game.

Great
Preciosa canción de Billy Strayhorn. Llamado por algunos el alter ego de Duke
Incorrect title for #2. Correct is "A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing"
