This was great. Very funny and relatable. You should definitely do this again if possible. Love Izzy being there and just destroying those nails. The microphone/ screwdriver bit was hysterical
To all those that thought " I could've done that". Hold your horses. Everything changes under pressure. I might've been able to get the 8 power tool companies and if SAE was accepted as imperial, that 1 too, maybe. Amazing how simple tasks and questions provided me with 16 minutes of entertainment. Thank you Jon. BTW we're breathlessly waiting for another build off with your kind neighbor.
What a fun video. Reminds me of the days before framing nailers in the early eighties. My boss told me I had to get 3 inch twisted nails in three hits into 2x4’s. Then after the sheathing he would walk around and fake tripping over any nails that weren’t below the deck. I learned real fast how to do it. Probably couldn’t now. Thanks for the good entertainment!
On the 2x4 size question, it depends on when it was made. They used to be bigger than they are today. If you look in a house that’s old enough, you can find ones that are actually 2x4 inches.
Loved bringing Izzy in as the surprise ringer. Especially since he casually sinks all 3 nails in one hit right off the bat. Would have loved to see a competition between him and Larry Haun. Izzy's arms are 3 times the size of Larry's but i bet Larry could have still kicked butt, he was the GOAT.
Super fun video! From the questions, the challenges and epic slotted screw finale!! And I guess I'll give extra points for the screwdriver microphone!!

To be picky, the USA uses the U.S.Customary System, not the Imperial System. They’re close, but the units of volume of Imperial and U.S. Customary are different
I love that somebody knows this! When I was a kid, we were taught "Standard" vs. "Metric." I didn't learn the term "Imperial" until adulthood; but it seems obvious to me that it refers to the units of the British "Empire," which used inches, feet, miles, etc. before going Metric (if I'm not mistaken).
@@jtotheb-ip2hh The Brits use a mixture of metric and imperial. Imperial pints (different from U.S. pints) are used for drinks, and road signs are in MPH.
That's a good point I doubt most know. I'm in Canada and we use both Imperial and Metric, and hate that their volume measures aren't the same. A US gallon is 1/5th smaller than an Imperial gallon. That cascades down to baking....when I'm following a recipe, if it's a US cookbook, I have to convert every measure to match all my Imperial measuring cups/tsp/tbsp

This was far too entertaining 😂I would of failed the second you mentioned "pocket holes" - I have some sort of natural aversion to competency at drilling them haha.
Really well done competitions and chosed good questions. It was fun to watch, without any awkwardness or humiliating moments. I think everyone had some fun to participate to have change to win something.
Oh but just the fact that americans can't even name the measuring system that they fight so hard to keep going around even though it is flawed says a lot. And sorry to say, but it is really funny to the rest of the world except in Liberia and Myanmar who are the only other countries still not oficially using metric😜
Then again, most people got the right answer on the fractions more quickly than I did, and I'm an engineer - we just don't work with fractions anywhere near as much in metric countries so processing them is much slower.
This is a great twist to your normal content! I'm not going to lie, though. I'd have been reaching for one of those hammers for that flathead challenge. Never said anything about having to drive them with the drill!

I for one am glad to see something like this. It's entertaining and it's woodworking related. I am not saying that the winner didn't deserve to win but I think some of the one's trying to be woodworkers are a bit overlooked. There are some out there that are struggling to get half decent tools and the ones winning them are the ones that probably don't need it. I do understand the dynamics of it but it is something I've noticed. Anyway, great video so keep up the great work. Stay safe and have fun 💯😁

Dovetails: I used them in 1960s and early 1970s. In the days of animal glue and various powder mixes they were essential for pulling drawers out and pushing them in. They were never about strength to resist breaking apart a right-angle joint or standing on the joint as the peak of a triangle. Since then they've become decorative only - which means the really fancy dovetails (concealed mitred) - are completely redundant.
Man, I only wish there was a Rockler (or anything like it) in Japan. You guys have it easy in this regard! Getting woodworking tools here is very challenging. So far, for major items I either have had to build them myself (Router Table), or order them from out of the country and have them shipped in (US and China).
