My best guest is that the game will be like Smash Brothers where this is the starting roster and you unlock the rest as you play. I think they said there’s going to be unlockable characters.
I still doubt that there any cuts whatsoever. For starters why cut Hugh who was a character that so many people wanted so bad that they petitioned for him to be in it. Also I refuse to believe that Leonardo, Michelangelo, Helga, Sandy and Lincoln Loud would be cut even though they were in the trailer. Yeah they were in the on the ASB1 portion of the trailer but why use them in particular and not SpongeBob, Patrick, Lucy Loud, Aang or any other confirmed veteran for ASB2? I feel like there's more to the roster than Ludocity and Fair Play Labs leads on cause if this is the "full roster" for the game, it would already be a disappointment. Not counting the DLC coming to ASB2 we know 25 characters for the base roster and the first game had 25 characters including DLC. Normally you add more to the roster for a sequel not the same.
“Including DLC” is the tricky part there, cause without it NASB1’s roster is 20/22, which is technically bigger. It’d be lame if that’s what they meant, but it’s not impossible
Fair point. I'll admit when it comes to fighting games, I compare the final roster to the base roster of it's sequel. I will say that even comparing just the base roster for both All-star Brawl games, yes ASB2 has the Biggest roster at launch, but I will still be disappointed because while we are getting some great characters, it's at the cost of so many characters from the first game being cut. I guess we'll just wait and see but I still refuse to believe that they will cut Hugh despite so many people wanted him in the last game. And that ASB1 portion of the trailer still irks me.
If we are still Going by Character/Stage Logic, then Leo, Mikey and Powdered Toast Man should still be in the Game because all of their Stages were in the Reveal Trailer.
this can't be everyone, I specifically remember we saw Lincoln Loud in the new gameplay. We could definitely see a few cuts though, that's common in games like this. If the game does well maybe they can all come back as DLC down the line

Awesome video, like always, QG! Remember in that video you made about the Polygon article how you said you don't think there will be any cuts because of what they said? I agree with you. Since this game looks to be a massive improvement upon the original, they should not cut any characters or stages. They should just keep everything and make it better, which is what they already are doing because they've reworked all of the returning characters' movesets and reworked the returning stages as you could see in the trailer. There may be 25 characters in this leaked image, but that's exactly how many characters were in the first game as well, so I don't see any reason at all to cut any of the old ones! They need to make the roster bigger and better, not the same size by getting rid of a bunch of iconic characters! Keeping everything and making it better just helps this game to make the original basically pointless to even play anymore, am I right?!

about the Angry Beavers being together of seperate on the roster your logic for them being seperate is not 100% solid cause Plankton, Jenny, Rocko & April are also all alone in their section of the poster

I think we might get some cuts, if so I'd guess PTM, Shredder, and maybe Korra, but I highly doubt this is the final roster. If it is, though, I'm still happy. It sucks that we got so many cuts if that's the case, but I understand why they'd prioritize newcomers in a game that revamps so many mechanics. If it was between getting an updated version of the last game with little to no additional newcomers vs this roster, I'd choose this one in a heartbeat.
I think that they have to keep some of the ones not on the splash art bc the world will explode in rage if Toph is not playable anymore, especially since I think she became meta

They did say there would be unlockable characters for the campaign, but no word on if that means the same for typical gameplay too or not
