I’m a Colorist , Actually dye is something you do to clothes or shoes! Color is a process of changing the color of the hair by penetrating the hair shaft. The types of color depends on the molecular structure of the of the product meaning a rinse is more of a stain sets on top of the hair and fades up to 10 to 12 shampoos depending on the brand, Color can come in Semi, Demi and Permanent based on the condition of your hair as well as how long it takes to fade and loses shine. Color I would only recommend a licensed professional Colorist to do your color service because it’s easy to damage your hair if you don’t know what your doing. Also a lot of box colors metallic salts to it which is drying and damaging to the hair. A professional colorist is gonna use professional color which conditions as it deposits color or as it lifts color. I have twenty years of loc journey and use only Jamaican Black Castor Oil, after washing once weekly, during the winter and twice during the summer. I love the fact that the locs turn brown to red during the summer and that's because I love being outside in the sun. I've watched many videos concerning loc mantainance and I feel yours is very much in keeping with the way I maintain mine. Much love Yannie, bless up!!!
I love watching your videos. I may not have locs, but they are an art in themselves. The time and dedication spent I feel there will always be meaning held within each strand of hair from that point onwards. I think you're great and the locs you make and maintain are glorious. :)
As a professional cosmetologist 31 years the word dye is an ingredient in the color. . People missed use the word dye saying they dyed their hair , we color hair coloring locs doesn’t damage locs or natural hair unless it’s a double process and done unprofessionally. Coloring hair can be Demi permanent , Semi permanent, permanent etc . I used Aveda color on my job for my guest and myself it has 4% dye in it . And we dye clothes , flowers, shoes etc .

But I won’t 🙅🏾♀️I’ve been burnt twice now where my Locs have broken off I’m still recovering from the trauma, 🥴 but like you said Yannie do your research. I wish I researched a bit more before I coloured my Locs! I’ve done the box dyes, semi permanent and the bleach peroxide colour. 🤭 and yes I went to a Professional but not a colourist. Krystin Grant CPC is not wax or a gel. It’s made from cocoa seed butter, Shea butter, magnesium and a few other ingredients. All ingredients are on the website. I use it and my locs are thick. It washes out easily with no build up.

Creme of Nature is a Permanent Hair Color . There’s Permanent, Semi permanent, Demi Permanent. Color don’t lift color, so in order to achieve a vibrant color you must lift the hair by using a developer or peroxide. Dye penetrates the hair shaft and color coats. Thanks for sharing, what moisturizer / leave in conditioner are you recommending your clients to use after their color?
That's why I mentioned people need to do their research and find PROFESSIONALS at dying. I'm NOT a colorist. I stay in my lane. I'll touch up my clients grays, add a lil color and call it a day.
Also, I want to add, everyone please find a colorist who has worked with YOUR hair type! This is so important, because hair has extremely different porosity, and the wrong dye can damage locs. And some kinds of henna can leave "chunks" in dreads that feel like sand are almost impossible to get out. Always research, because we love our locs and want to keep them happy and healthy. 😘 Awww, I'm so happy about the new puppy! ♥️ Puppies are a lot of work but so worth it!

I use Henna, and it has a strong smell that stays for about a week.
HOBBY! MONEY , Add a few drops Peppermint Oil or Lavender Oil to the mud or to the final rinse-out.
