  • In this episode I will show you how I replaced the water pump on 1994 John Deere 310D Backhoe. I also had to fabricate bracket and added coolant reservoir. I hope you will enjoy this video as I enjoyed making it for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me and I will be happy to answer your questions. I appreciate your like, share, comment and subscription to my channel. Please be safe and have a good day.

Thank you for making this video. I too have to replace my water pump because the bearing is noisey and loose. Now I know how to get the belts on, which I will be replacing too. Given how expensive the pumps have gotten I may just buy a rebuilding kit since I have a hydraulic press. I'll know once I inspect the old pump to see if it comes apart easy enough without breaking the housing, pulley or impeller. The kit comes with a new seal and tool to press it in so it shouldn't be too difficul;t.

Good morning sir, I bought the water pump on eBay which was cheaper than the rebuild kit that John Deere sells. I found a rebuild kit for it on eBay, however the price difference between the new pump and the kit didn't make sense to me to rebuild mine. I believe the new pump was about $200 and the kit was about $130 (these were the prices when I did the video). It should be easy and straightforward to rebuild yours if you have all the parts and a hydraulic press. Thank you for the feedback

Very informative, step by step water pump replacement and reservoir build/install. I wonder if you are going to disassemble the original water pump and inspect it for a possible re-bearing/re-bush/re-seal. Could possibly make for an economical spare. Thanks for sharing and all the best to you and Yours Salam.

I saved it on the shelf. I may do what you suggested. I built few water pumps in the past. I have searched for a rebuild kit (bearings and seal) however I couldn't find any kit for this unit. I probably can disassemble it and get the bearings from any bearing source. The seals for these should be two parts. One surface made from porcelain and the other from graphite. However, I have to find the part number to be able to locate the seal. Thank you for continuous support and have a great day.

Looks factory to me. I had to replace water pump on my TD8. Thank goodness for internet. I couldn't imagine tracking down parts for my old equipment at the local parts store.

I never understood why the dealership always charge 5 to 30 times for parts (or even more)? When I rebuilt the air ride for my backhoe, the dealer wanted $72 for 6 ball bearings. I bought the exact same ones (10 of them) online for only $4. Why would anyone purchase parts from the dealer?

I provided tips throughout the video regarding the disassembly. You can also reverse the installation process to disassemble. I always try to keep my videos informative and as short as possible.

I bought it from eBay. I searched for the John Deere part number R90783. If I remember correctly, there are many new water pumps with the same part number, I bought one with the double grove pulley (the title for the eBay ad was R90783 Water Pump Fits John Deere Tractor 2940, 2950, 2955....) I looked for the eBay order and the part is no longer available. You may have to search on eBay or other online stores. I hope this helps.
