      ldsclarinetgirl yeah the packaging looks like what essence use for their mattifying powder which costs less than $5

      it might be notable that the product is 24 dollars in Europe, which is much more acceptable for that kind of packaging. However, that raises the question as to why the hell its so expensive in Australia or the US.

    Silicone plus silica = every mattifying primer ever. If this was in a roll up stick, nobody would think it was unique. I'll pass on this one. I loved seeing you destroy it though!

    Maybe you could have put a dewy foundation on your arm to show the shine better? The foundation could be a bit darker than your skin tone to show where u put it on your arm x

    • @PearlsBeforeDiamonds

      I feel like it's good for makeup artists who need a truly translucent mattifying powder for clients. Cause other transluscent powders are too ashy for deeper skin tones. For individuals it's probably not nessecary for that price though

    • @autumnautopsy
      @autumnautopsy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      If it's really good, I'd be willing to splurge. Price is not only about the ingredients but also about the way something is produced. If it works really well, it is worth 55$.
      (I develop paints and lacquers so I know what I'm talking about - with exactly the same ingredients I can make a cheap, crappy lacquer and a great quality, expensive lacquer, just using different techniques, putting in more time, using more complicated technology, and so on.)

    • @jennistone8740

      shanigold it’s nice having in my kit. I do weddings a lot, and it’s convenient because it works with every skin tone as well women of color which in France we have a beautiful amount of. Also doesn’t layer/ cake up. I’ve been sent it before release and all my clients react very well to it, for a wedding a matte yet natural finish is key, and this product helps with the longevity of that finish. I like it, don’t think I would recommend for an everyday costumer because that much silicone daily would age you and maybe clog pores, but for special occasion, amazing product. (Also if you think about it less cheaper than buying mattifying powders all across the color spectrum and trust me, translucent is barely ever translucent in makeup. Also has absolutely no flashback!

    • @ftcmua
      @ftcmua 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Laura Scronce exactly. That’s very strange marketing, esp since I’d think much of the appeal would be that it’s not powder. Mally has the same product - has for years - and they definitely market it based on it NOT being powder!

  • @chickennuggets7092

    Lisa Eldridge mentioned this in her glass skin video! The reason why it's so expensive is the technology behind it. I don't think the average user would use this (or know how to) but I guess it might be useful for makeup artists who does editorial looks

  • @laurascronce5372
    @laurascronce5372 6 ปีที่แล้ว +89

    Quite annoyed that the original product this is mimicking cost so little (like $13 or $14 usd), and that it’s now $55 usd. I understand that the formula is probably different and may have caused an up in price, but this just seems like too much. I can also get that this is a brand that likely generally has these higher prices anyway, still doesn’t make it seem better to me though. I would be interested to try this because I enjoy reducing the look of my oil. For $55 though, it’s not worth trying.

      High quality cosmetic silicone is not cheap to make and can easily degrade when exposed to fluctuation to temperature. My hypothesis is that the ingredients didn't change but the silicone is more pure and refined to make the product more stable.

    • @Mel-pb5xw
      @Mel-pb5xw 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      valentina ciccarelli actually Mally makes one that is the exact same. It’s $40 but you get more product, better packaging (w/ a mirror & an application sponge), & it’s often on sale. I got it for $19 during ULTA’s 21 days of beauty

  • @karlabyrne6029
    @karlabyrne6029 6 ปีที่แล้ว +89

    Not for me at all. I'm confused as to how it picks up on a brush if it's solid silicone aswell. Also, I may be wrong but doesn't silicone clog pores?

    • @estherstreet4582
      @estherstreet4582 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Depends on the person, but some people get breakouts from dimethicone so yeah

    • @Mel-pb5xw
      @Mel-pb5xw 6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      There are some individuals that have issues, just like many things, but in general it’s not bad for skin. It’s actually used in medical products designed for wound healing! As for application it applies best with a sponge; only the smallest amount is needed & it’s applied by pressing. Mally has had the same product for years now - The Poreless Face Defender - & it really works quite well...both under & over makeup or simply on its own.

    • @nicksshit
      @nicksshit 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      The reason dimethicone and silicone get a bad rep for clogging pores is because they definitely fill in pores really well, so it's really hard to wash it out. When cleaned out properly, silicone shouldn't cause you a problem. Of course there are individuals who have an allergy to dimethicone and silicone or sensitivity, but unless you have an allergy it shouldn't affect your skin.

    I'd suggest trying it on your face next time. Probably would've gave the best results? I tried an ulta knock off and didn't mind it. Bought it twice. Used it as a primer in certain spots. Gave my skin a velvety feel.

    This is the same thing as the Mally Poreless Face Defender. A silicone/silica pat that you can put over your makeup to take down shine. They have a mini available on Ulta for 19.00$ (0.07 oz). And that's a good value actually because it takes FOREVER to wear down if you just do a small pat-pat over your face once or twice a day. So the outrageous price tag is just that outrageous. Even the full size by Mally is 40$. I don't know how that would translate to AUS dollars, but still.

  • @shelliecornatzer
    @shelliecornatzer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mally has had one of these out for years in the US called the Poreless Face Defender and it's a little cheaper at 40.00 US. I would never use one, but it's an alternate option if people are interested. The ingredients seem very similar.

    Reminds me of a liole primer I have, except it comes in a big tub and is a lot cheaper. I guess you have to try it in person to experience the uniqueness of this product.

    I know this is mostly a makeup channel, but I would love to see you both review brand name purses, tear them apart to go over the materials and things and do durability tests, like if it gets wet, or if a pen busted in it how good and easily will the stain come out of it etc.. just an idea!!

    Bliss made one of these called Bliss Un Buffing Believable Smoothing Finishing Balm. It was virtually the same thing. Silicones. I think you can still find the Bliss product in the US at Khol's stores or online for around $30 USD.

      The point is you can use it through out the day like a blotting powder where you can't do it with a primer. Though, I wouldn't pay $80 for a blotting powder. Especially when Mally has the exact same product for half the price.

    • @Mel-pb5xw
      @Mel-pb5xw 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Monina similar but it’s a bit different. If you’re interested in checking it out Mally sells the exact same thing for less; it’s called the Poreless Face Defender & is in store @ many ULTAs so you could see it in person. FYI it’s been included in their 21 days of beauty several times for half off; I picked it up a few years back for $19 $ do quite like it, esp for touch ups!
