  • Four against Darkness is a solo dungeon-crawling adventure that requires a bit of organization so that all of the information you need to play fluidly is where you can find it. Initially overwhelmed, I came up with my own system of journal notebooks, character cards, and a token system to help track my playthroughs.
    My favorite part is the dungeon book! What about yours? How do you organize your game?

    Dot grid journals are an absolute game changer. I really like your system, and I'm totally going to have to copy it! Where I go wrong is that I use regular dot grid journals and it inevitably happens that the journal will end up with extraneous stuff in it and it turns into a mess. These Traveller's Notebook inserts seem to solve that! I sometimes do dungeon maps on smaller field notes notebooks, but I think you've found a much better (and more cost effective) approach!

    • @RollforDrama
      @RollforDrama  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comments! Yeah I am one of those people that wants to do it "perfectly" and I see other people's set ups and think i should have done that! but I've actually stuck with this system and still like it so I'm super happy !! Glad you liked it, I have links in the description although any a5 dot notebook will do.

      there are lot of links in the description. Was there something specific you were looking for? Before I started 4AD, I was debating between that and D100. May get to D100 someday...

    Nice vid and interesting set up. Right after you showed the dungeon name generator pages, @3:14 there was a page showing a blank dungeon grid. Do you recall where you found that?

    • @RollforDrama
      @RollforDrama  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I either got it from board game geeks or the Facebook group in files.
      Although I only used it once, the lines are too dark to easily differentiate the dungeon walls from the grid. If I can find out exactly I’ll let you know! Thanks for watching!

    After suffering from DM/GM burnout, I am looking for an RPG that my family can play together without the need for a DM. Will this game work well with more than one player? (3 in our case)
    Great video!

    • @RollforDrama
      @RollforDrama  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      thank you! Yes there are a lot of people that play this with their kids. The mechanics are simple enough and there are 4 characters in a party so each person can be one character and experience the adventures together without th eoverhead of having to set up a whole campaign as a DM.

    Why do you have the speeded up sections where we can't hear what you are saying? Super annoying.

    • @RollforDrama
      @RollforDrama  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I just assumed what I was doing then was a bit boring and I wasn’t saying much. Is it the speeded up sections that are annoying or the fact there is audio that’s garbled?
      Thanks for stopping by, I’ll see what I can do for other videos to make it less annoying!

    • @richardmullens4707
      @richardmullens4707 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RollforDrama Both. How can we decide for ourselves if those bits were boring or useful if we can't hear them and can't see what's happening because it's going too fast? It's like wait a second you did that and explained it but then you sped it up past something we couldn't see or hear properly and now you are explaining something else, what did we miss? How did you get from A to B? If you consider parts are not relevant then just edit them out completely rather than confusing things by speeding it up. Imagine if the Marvel studios filmed 4 hours of footage for a movie but rather than edit it properly down to 2.5 hours for release, they showed all the bits they considered boring and not relevant speeded up instead. See what I mean?

    • @RollforDrama
      @RollforDrama  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes I do, I’ll pay closer attention. The parts I speed up to me are where I’m doing something repetitive but I understand that it may not seem that way for others. I think Timelapse’s are neat when I see them in other videos but I’ll be more mindful of using them less often, and not because I’m afraid something is boring. I appreciate the feedback! (Also I do end up editing out about 50% when I’ve said the same thing over and over…but maybe that’s interesting too for someone listening.

      To each their own. :) everyone likes a different part of the game. I enjoy watching setup / organization / artistic videos of other gamer's channels so that's mostly what i've been doing. I have non 4AD play videos up for faster moving games.
      Come back in a couple weeks i'll have more up.
