    Wow this is special. How to paint acrylic mountains. My paintings changing and it’s frustrating me. It looks tatty but I know because it wants to become softer. I’ll have to go with the flow. Has anyone else noticed their style changing through this stage. I love Bob Ross he was my guru of many many years on TV whilst growing up. So I’m influenced by him. Chuck you are my best choice on u-tube and I have to say no second best to Mr Ross. Just beautiful, thank you.

    You have such a great way of informing us of each step...you have a great knack of instruction. I hope to one day have my art turn out 1/2 as good as yours.

    Fantastic! I'm painting my very first lanscape and I tought that blues of mountains were wrong, and I've scared and replace the blues with grey, but today I find your video and think I wasn't too wrong at elections of colors! I've failed maybe at all the further details . You're a awesome artist! Thanks for sharing your tips!

    This mountain reminds me of Wastwater, in Cumbria. Dad and I walked here when I was in my teens. It’s very testing with huge boulders and loose slate scree which slips downward into the deep lake. You travel on sheep tracks and narrow barely defined paths until you reach the head of the valley about 4hrs later. I’ll never forget it. Those who first climbed Everest trained on the crags at head and at the hotel there. We briefly met the tall slim gentleman who ran up and down more mountains in one day than one else. He was herding his sheep with his collies. I think the bluebird did the land speed record on this lake also. It’s moody and wild and ancient Moreland unlike other parts of the Lake District. Just a very special place almost spiritual really.

    Hi Chuck, I am proud to say that I just won the auction of this lovely painting. Have even, as recent as today, been watching the video, almost daily, for tips on painting it myself. Thanks so much for making it available to an avid student. Hope you are having a wonderful, safe trip into the wilderness.

    It was very beautiful, and more when teaching step by step, so many learn, others present videos with speed but neither learn nor want to watch your videos, but you, teach as a true Master, thanks for your videos, if you could present videos of landscapes, that attracts people, thank you Master¡¡¡¡

    Chuck thank you for your beautiful pictures of mountains, cabins, and wildlife that is what I truly love and hoping to paint one day. I am almost 64 so don’t have to much time to mess around. LOL. My question is when applying gesso to canvases do you need to let it dry between coats? Thank you for all you do for us.

    Hi Chuck, I am sure I have seen the finished product of this beautiful painting, I did try to follow it along, but I really was stuck when I got to the animal. I love your use of colors, as they all blend into each other and there is no sudden sharp shocks. Great tutorial. Thank You.

    I am deep down in Mexico and have trouble getting supplies. Do you hold workshops or better still one on one instruction. I kind of doubt that but thought I´d throw that idea out there. Really like your humble down to earth
    style and demeanor.

    Something you may be interested in is they form the brushes with corn starch and warm water when they make them, this may soften your brushes to that once new quality.

    wow thank uuu for those tips and all the tutorials you share. i enjoy watching you paint and talk,it's relaxing, however it makes me lose hope, or feel less eager to at least try to grab my brushes and Start doing some paintings. i indeed pay atention but it's Like your masterpieces are unreacheable or something i wont ever be able to achieve. i do have lots of pictures i took in my country they could be great reference photos but painting mountains is definitely quite challenging for me. i'm a beginner and it's a bit frustrating. :( anyway gracias gracias.

    Wow you REALLY have to grey out those colors in the distance. I screwed mine up by going too saturated . I still desaturated a lot but it just wasn’t enough. My colors looked incredibly muddy and unharmonized too

    Lovely, I’m trying to learn how to get distance into my scenes, but it’s fighting me. Also, how do you use layering and washes for mist and clouds? What colours do yo use. I tried adding cobalt teal but didn’t work very well for me. I’ll try these colours they obviously work brilliantly. Ta very much for your help, it’s very much appreciated.

    Can you tell me what kind of liner brushes you use? I cannot find a liner that holds paint the way yours do in the video. Maybe you are loading the brush more that it appears .

  • @catherinegreenup4608
    @catherinegreenup4608 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Daler Rowney brushes are great, Gold Talcon Daler Rowney are brilliant and not expensive but not cheap throw out won’t work ones. These synthetic ones don’t shed. Unlike goat and sable etc., wolf and pony hair. Why buy these ? Wooden handles with very secure ferrule. Yes, I love these. Royal Langnickle come a close second, especially their Dagger soft grip style.

    Chuck you blow my mind. I love and hate the attention to details. Because now I always look for details I missed. I do wonder why not use open acrylic paint. The soft body paints drive me so insane I have wasted canvases in my 2 year old temper Tantrums. I love the campfire in the last paiting I watched. The boat and the cabin. Do you sell these paintings? You put your heart and soul into them how do you let them go.

    • @chuckblackart
      @chuckblackart  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I don't like open acrylics, I own about 60 of them and never use them anymore, I hate the way they work for me. Just personal preference. Yes I do sell! I'm just grateful that others want to hang them in their homes and I have no problem sharing them with the world!

    • @BiologyalwaysWins
      @BiologyalwaysWins 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chuck Black well I am amazed. I told you my love and hate about your videos because you make the tiniest details very important. So I am in a huge funk. How do I know to walk away before I stab it like a crazy person. I am good at oils flowers I need to stretch out. I finally understand about tones value even after reading color theory. I am taking a month to do tone studies any idea? I want to plant like you whatever turns out to be my thing. It's not landscape you teach it's realistic life lessons. Why I follow you. Clouds hate me. Thanks for sharing. God you don't know how many people you help. Like disabled crazy person like me. Ok I am a grandma so not nutty. Hockey was on last night. Bruins come first.

    Hi Chuck, do you add any paint extender to your acrylics as they never seem to get tacky when you paint and it looks as if you are using the same paint you put out to start with. Really enjoying your work. Thanks again, phil from the UK.

    Hi Chuck, awesome painting as always. What did you seal your sketch with? Also, can you use same sealant for oil painting? Thanks.

    • @chuckblackart
      @chuckblackart  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      workable fixative and no after oils you can't use any acrylic based medium. Either varnish or just leave it like I do. No sealant is needed really if you use a tough medium like I do (alkyd)

    Really fantastic! I'm looking forward to the next video. I was wondering: do you ever use Pthalo blue for your skies? You did mention you were going to use oils over the acrylics, so am looking forward to seeing that. On a side note...take care, when you are out hiking. You mentioned that was a difficult hike, and we don't want you to get injured. I've seen some of your videos where you were in places only a peregrine should be :-*
