    Such a helpful video, thank you! Bfb sounds lovely, but Sonlight works for my brain, lol 😃. We love that it primarily is discussion based, just cuddling up on the sofa with me reading to my kids and weird and wonderful chats afterwards wards. We are over half way through HBL A 2022 World Cultures and the read alouds have been excellent.

      All those discussions and conversations are one of the best parts of homeschool! Choosing the Teacher Guide that aligns best with the way your brain works is a VERY good strategy when it comes to curriculum choice!

    I have used BFB and Sonlight. I love both. I currently have one child in SL W (world history) and one using BFB California History. I feel like SL’s grid is easier to use for the person who is a planner and BFB is better for the person who prefers flexibility. Lesson length can vary greatly in BFB. So I need to put a little more thought and effort into planning and scheduling. Also, I am planning my daughter’s readers as opposed to have them laid out with SL. Both have benefits, and I welcome a year to plug in some classics that I want her to read. She will go back to SL next year for HBL F. Obviously my children are older than the target age of the levels you discussed. I appreciated your thorough comparison. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

      BFB definitely tends to require more planning--the Teacher Guides are one of the most dramatic differences between the two curriculums and yes, they both have their benefits! Also--love HBL F!!

      I'm glad it was helpful! There are so many similaries and overlaps between the three...but also distinct differences. I'd had multiple requests to talk about how they compare, so you are definitely not alone!

    My favorite thing about Sonlight was the grid schedule! To the point that we aren't using Sonlight this year so I made my own grid calendar as my lesson plans for the year.

      That's awesome that you were able to DIY your favorite piece of the program! My brain also thrives with grid schedules. :)

    We are planning to use beautiful feet science history!!! I preferred sequence one due to the fact it includes other history to American history!!! I love that we can use it as a family and my older kids can read other books themselves!!! My older kids are finding the catechisms awesome!!! We are able to discuss them more deeply with them and I see it’s planting a seed in my youngest’s heart!!! I find sonlight’s guide is a bit too much!!! I don’t like the weekly grids!!! We love the verbal discussions with sonlight!!! I love the flexibility with sequence one!!! I grew up with art and I remember my favourite art book and my kids love the same one!!! They grab it at grammie’s!!!

      @@SevenInAll yes it is. I have found my children prefer the shorter books in first and second grade and I also don’t want to do that much history in k and 1. I love the new A and did not want to miss it. Now having looked through it I am so glad I waited to use it. It’s a lot of information!

    For sonlight, can you just do the history part ?

    • @SevenInAll
      @SevenInAll  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can, but the instructor's guide includes History, Bible, and Literature. You can skip any section or book that you want to.

    This was very helpful. How would you compare Peaceful Press Playful Pioneers with Gentle & Classical Press Sequence 1? I had wanted to go with Sequence 1, but then when I learned Sequence 2 will not be out till 2025, I hestitqted to proceed with it. Currently my kids will be in 3rd, 2nd and Kindergarten (she is an advanced kindergartener).

    • @SevenInAll
      @SevenInAll  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Playful Pioneers is another similar program that could be included with these three for sure--however, I haven't used any Peaceful Press programs so I don't feel as confident doing a thorough comparison.
      Playful Pioneers does cover a longer stretch of history, going further into modern US history, beyond the Civil war into the Age of Industry. Playful Pioneers also includes a broad range of subject areas, though a slightly different collection from Sequence 1.
      I know that Playful Pioneers is known for their recipes and for including lots of kitchen/cooking activities. They schedule the Little House series as read alouds, or the Little Britches Series for older kids, I believe.
